Finally caught up with this, sorry I missed it live. I have a couple UH folders I like a lot, but I had a bad experience with a fixed blade hunter a few years ago. The handle looked sturdy enough, but fell apart under use. I was surprised that it was hollow inside and the brass “rivets” were just thin caps. Now that I know how affordable the vintage US made knives are, I think I’ll stick to those. I do like the look of that Canoe knife, my favorite pattern.
I got all 3 knives you got there the golden spike is an old one but the pocket knives are the same in the new stag I was disappointed in the Sr Rancher I like that stockman a lot but I put it up to the light you can see through the back springs cracks in it new just got the other was fine but I'm not sending it back only paid 20.99 and I can use it anyway good video I like the uncle henry knives I guess your going to get one like that now and then!
SMKW has an Uncle Henry real stag handle knives with D2 steel. It's pretty decent considering some of there very inconsistent quality on most of there newer products.
I just wish they were made of a better steel. AUS-8 or 440c would be even more acceptable to me then the 7cr or 8cr steel... heck why not D2? They have some blades in D2 allready and it has become kind of a go to budget steel that is pretty darned good being able to compete with 440c, VG10 and even has edge retention close to S35VN when heat treated right.
Thank you for sharing some nice looking knives.
You bet Gizmo thanks for watching.

Appreciate you having a look. To me the Old Timer Mountain Lion is a superior knife with a similar blade.
@@ThriftyKaniffy Thanks for the tip. Next on my list is the Mountain Beaver Jr you reviewed a few weeks ago.

Spring gaps can really be bad at times. It seems to vary with each knife. Sorry you had a bad experience. Thanks Timber.
You're welcome thanks 👍

Just a budget thing I suppose. We'd always like better steel.
