These are truly American classics. I got over 30 survival knives in my collection and when I'm huntingor fishing uncle henery goes with me LOL. There is 2 more American classics you should also have in your collection. The Buck 110 and the 119. Our fathers had these old classics and done everything with them. I wouldn't count on them for a shtf survival situation but they are great knives for hunting and fishing. Thanks for sharing and God bless 🇺🇸
Great knife. I bought one a while back and it was made out of the last production run in the Ellensville, NY plant. It replaced one that my wife bought me that was stolen.
Awesome review!I held out and looked around and decided on the UNCLE HENRY’S GOLDEN SPIKE myself and it’s THE knife I carry on all my adventures!Good luck in Idaho can’t wait to see the footage
For the last twenty years, I've been carrying a folding knife, with a larger fixed blade knife in my pack and I finally thought to myself, "What in the hell are you doing?" A hunting knife should be carried on your BELT, just like back in the day! I see nothing about the Golden Spike that won't hold up to custom knives costing several hundreds of dollars more than it did. Love it!
I think I'm general this is a great all around blade down to hunting skinning camping tasks and if need be most definitely self defense good blade to have for sure
I would definitely use this for SHTF. It's an icon and I've used them for 40 years. Even the new ones are very good for anything outdoors. I've never had one to fell, but then I don't do stupid things with them like the greenhorns do on the videos today. They need to learn real knife skills .
I carried the Uncle Henry during all last year's hunting season and didn't get to do anything more with it than cut some rope. However, it's headed out to the field with me again this year and if I get a deer or a bear, I'll definitely shoot a video of using it to dress that animal out!
@@THEWILDLIFEOV did you get to skin anything yet ? Muzzleloader season is in now and I just used my uncle henery to skin and process a big doe. And I used it yesterday to skin out 3 squrils. I'll be eating good this week.
Looks like I'm 4 years late lol, but I've cleaned a doe, 2 gator, and a handful of squirrel with the Chinatown version. I own both old & new. Chinatown schrade isn't bad at all , edge don't last as long, but easier to sharpen. I don't have a problem with the new ones at all
Cool! How do you like it? I've been carrying a folding knife on my belt now for years, and it sure feels goo to feel the heft of that sheathed Golden Spike on my belt now. Thanks for watching!

I could count on either Buck in SHTF, as long as you use a knife as a knife.

Buy a USA made old school Schrade Sir. That’s the China made one. Great video. I have whole collection of these 8 total so far. Have a great day.
We would, but you buy them all!

Older is almost always better! Thanks for the share!
That's exactly what I keep telling my wife! Hahahahaha!
Hard to beat old school. Now you can look for a vintage one to go with it. Thank you for the video, Ken
Not to worry, Shove. This one will definitely be "Vintage" by the time I get back from Idaho with it!
@@THEWILDLIFEOV I live in Idaho 😁

I love it. Thoughts from an actual hunter. Can we see some usage of the knife if you get your trophy deer?

Probablly full tang eh
I think so, but the tang is concealed beneath the handles so I can't be 100% sure.
Just bought one . Great knife, tang actually turns out to be a rat tail tang.
