@jonmel Adding on to this basically Josh (showrunner) had left Rooster Teeth (the production company for the show) and Josh said that RT determined it was too expensive to keep making so they cancelled it. Josh said it would require outside funding to make a season 3 (there's 2 seasons, this recap only covers season 1) but most people thought that would be unlikely bc it requires another company picking it up which would be appreciated but a lot of people thought that that would never happen since it requires Rooster Teeth more or less allowing another company to take their show. And apparently the TV run didn't do as well as the web show run so eventually it just got forgotten about so at this point there's no use in picking up the show since it's been a few years (season 2 ended in 2017 I believe). But honestly I kinda like how the first season ended cause while it is a cliffhanger its at least a cliffhanger you can live with and you can make your own conclusions from it. It isn't a cliffhanger like some shows where its like a "will they/won't they" situation or a character is literally about to die before the episode ends. This one you can just make your own conclusions and you could technically live without knowing the true ending. Like who knows, maybe this was a government experiment and that's why the Marine was safe. Maybe this was all a collective dream by the characters. You could do whatever you want with it. It's like a soft cliffhanger.

I've stayed awake for four days straight before and it really wasn't bad. The worst part is the exhaustion before you're awake for like 24 hours and then suddenly you're not exhausted anymore and it's like you're super wired. I've stayed awake for more than 50 hours and even though I didn't have extremely vivid hallucinations, I started hearing voices. They didn't belong to anyone in particular, just whispers and occasional sounds that sound like something really did happen, like a chair being moved or sound of door lock. I got really spooked so I called it there and went to sleep before it got worse.
Everyone thinks this is a movie but I’m here to set the record straight Rooster Teeth YEARS ago made a little show and I actually loved it when it came out, sadly they didn’t get a season 3 and that’s why the cliffhanger. It’s mainly because they were streaming it off of the rooster teeth website and not on UA-cam or something mainstream to a large audience (as far as I know)
I’m a veteran and when I was deployed to Iraq I was awake for something like 48 hours. There was a good reason, but I fell asleep sitting on the back of a MRAP and my commander effectively ordered me to go to my CHU and sleep. Woke up a few hours later because the generator went down and my AC shut off. I didn’t hallucinate, but staying awake that long is extremely difficult.
I’ve done some ‘things’ in the past that made me stay awake for long periods. Almost five days was the longest stretch without sleep. By late on day three the hallucinations were nuts and hearing music from the steady hum of a fan or refrigerator compressor was also crazy. I’m very glad I got my life in order twenty years ago after struggling for almost eight months otherwise I might not be here to comment on this rather subpar looking movie/show.
I feel like you stay awake a very long time on drugs. I know from experience that stimulants feel like a substitute for sleep, and even after running out 3 days later, it takes a few hours to fall asleep

(This was actually the last video for me before bed at 1:20am)
after looking this up, just found out this is a Rooster Teeth series lol. One of the characters shown here is Joel Heyman
I was wondering why so many people looked familiar!
Dunkleman was the rave chick.
and they got barbara and that bald dude is apart of them too. makes me wonder if some of the other characters are also RT just more off-screen staff
did Rooster Teeth themselves make this show though?
@@groyperfuhr4871Yes this was something RT made some years ago. It had quite a few RT staff in it.
It was something that always piqued my interest but never could justify paying for their “First” membership.
Bro Dave was literally just a slasher villain from the 80s but with sleep deprivation
If this happens in real life I'm just gonna say goodbye to my loved ones then I will go to sleep peacefully.
there was a tv show a while back, early 2004 (called shattered) it was just like the show big brother but instead contestants were challenged without sleep, the longest to go without sleep wins the pot and the catch was that any contestant which falls asleep the cash pot gets smaller. Anyhow the show went exactly how you would expect, after 4 days it became as dull as dishwater, everyone became lethargic, non responsive, not entertaining. They only made one season of the show for good reason. Sleep deprived shows are the worst.
If this ever happened in real life, i would have no desire to survive. Just let me sleep, its not worth it.
I've stayed awake for four days straight before and it really wasn't bad.
The worst part is the exhaustion before you're awake for like 24 hours and then suddenly you're not exhausted anymore and it's like you're super wired.
My brain was "lagging" while I was thinking and I was more paranoid, but it honestly isn't awful.
I once bought 3 grams of meth.... On the fourth day, I ate 5 hits of LSD. To see if I could trip while sleeping.... Well long story short.... I did not sleep, and I will never forget those hallucinations...
The Young Hackers Like “Phone Book WTF is That” 🤦♂️🤷♂️😂😂💀
I regularly stay up, up to 5 days, due to my work schedule. It's hell but getting easier to mentally handle
Bullshit
Stop lying
9:13 why they are going in the morning?
They don't need to sleep it's a waste of time being awake.
Doesn't make any sense
shouldnt have done a summary for this show if it was unfinished lol
so the girl at 18:18 was able to sleep peacefully right next to those rotting corpses that has been producing unbearable stench? wow, so realistic!
Isn't there a movie about this exact plot? Even has a "secret group of scientists" that are working on a cure. The difference is that the movie ends with the group discovering that the "Cure" is to basically Die & be brought back to life (Sort of like restarting your heart)
yes that is a movie (i cant remember the name), but the plot is the complete oposite of this show. In that movie everyone sudenly lost the ability so sleep. In contrast to this series where everyone could still sleep, but they just die if they do
Thank god for recaps.
The actor who plays Julio was also in Sicario. For 1 min of screen time he got his performance was the best in the entire movie
*The cure is called Meth* haha
I stayed awake for 72 hours straight when Oblivion came out lol
I'm laying here watching this because arm-surgery is making it hard to get comfortable and go to sleep. It's making me thankful for every wink I can get lol.
Everyone thinks this is a movie but I’m here to set the record straight
Rooster Teeth YEARS ago made a little show and I actually loved it when it came out, sadly they didn’t get a season 3 and that’s why the cliffhanger. It’s mainly because they were streaming it off of the rooster teeth website and not on UA-cam or something mainstream to a large audience (as far as I know)
Farewell, Roster Teeth. 😢 Thank you for this fun web series. 🙇🏾♀️
Never thought I'd see a RoosterTeeth production on this channel
I’m a veteran and when I was deployed to Iraq I was awake for something like 48 hours. There was a good reason, but I fell asleep sitting on the back of a MRAP and my commander effectively ordered me to go to my CHU and sleep.
Woke up a few hours later because the generator went down and my AC shut off.
I didn’t hallucinate, but staying awake that long is extremely difficult.
This felt like an entire serie in 18 minutes and of course without an ending for more seasons.
i was expecting a zombie horde after they threw in a serial killer...
When you have movies like Joe Estevez in them you can't lose!
Having to stay awake for days sounds like literal hell. I LOVE sleeping. This movie makes me want to take a nap
Wait! The recap ended so fast, so it was a military operation the whole time which is why Meredith slept and woke up at the end?
I have 72 hours record on being awake, when I was in uni I have bought xbox and played cod from froday morning till sunday night without a sleep.
Wasn’t expecting roosterteeth people in the cast
It was a RT production. The show was on their website. May not be there anymore; I haven't been on it for a few years.
I loved this show. Sad we never got a season 3.
I was up for a week back when I was a meth smoker. Terrible times. 😢
Thankfully I'm not one of the characters, because I'd end the movie in lees than 5 mins by just falling asleep.
TV series title = "Day 5" (2016); 2 seasons before they lacked funding, 14 episodes (this vid. covers season 1).
How is this not “edge of sleep”?
Just sleep. That's the answer to that riddle. No pain. Just sleep and move on.
Bro, the lack of sleep must have fried their brains too, teaming up with a sniper on a rampage. What geniuses.
Great video to watch before going to sleep
Rooster Teeth made this...and now they are gone
No cars, no people, green trees, high temperature. Hmm must be Christmas, bro really thought that one through
Movie/Show name?
Day 5
@@Arvyn992 Thanks.
Sam, the kid, is the true hero here. It's a weird story, though. As everyone attests, humans can't stay awake that long.
It's not a smart idea for me to watch this during nighttime. 😅
did you sleep tho?
I feel like you stay awake a very long time on drugs. I know from experience that stimulants feel like a substitute for sleep, and even after running out 3 days later, it takes a few hours to fall asleep
In the shadows the protagonist looks like Mark Pellegrino
The way I wouldn’t give a fuck and took a nap on the second day 😂
If falling asleep kills you, everyone's dead for sure after one week 🤔
I’ll just be dead. 😂
What’s the name of web series or movie??????
Day 5
What is the name of this movie???
I like how the drug addict leaves money on the counter for the lighter instead of just stealing it 😂
Was awake for a week in the hospital as a kid, couldn't sleep at all, with kids crying constantly in other rooms, sleep was not to be had. Thought I saw the Sun outside my window one day a BIG red ball of fire.
Even had a nurse ask me to turn the TV down, I replied, you quiet those kids down and I will turn my TV down, she never returned!~
If this happened tomorrow, CNN would still spend more time talking about Trump
😅
rooster teeth did so good with this idea
Is there a battle to see who's the awokest junkie on this thread ?
this was a rooster teeth web series and unfortunately season two did not wrap the show up well, another casualty of wb
So girl at the end didn't die in her sleep?
How tf did the dog stay awake for multiple days
one of the few true instances where Roosterteeth made a really good thing
My ex was in the USAF stationed in Germany, while on guard duty he fell asleep. When whomever came to relieve him, he woke up knowing he would be in big trouble, he said Amen. And they were like oh ok. Really?
any to tell me a name of the movie please!
If anyone is wondering where the actor that plays Jake is from I was wondering too then it hit me he was one of the wolves in season 6 of the walking dead that attacked Alexandria and he was the cop that corey held while michael myers killed him in halloween ends
Thank you for the recap! 😊
