- In today's mess of a devlog, I add new weapons, new enemies, and new totally intentional features to my game. Lots of progress, and many bad jokes, were made.

So yeah, devlog 2 of the still unnamed first person shooter thing. Last time, I added the basic gameplay mechanics and things like wall running. So this time, I expanded on them a little and added some new and very floppy physics based, procedurally animated enemies using inverse kinematics, ragdolls, and a bit of code. I also added some new weapons and mechanics like double jumping, and improved a lot of old things.

I really like the script alot, even though it's not something you usually expect to be the best part about a devlog. It reminds me of those animation channels that are succesful only based on their writing and not necessarily their artistic skills (Sam, Casuallyexplained etc), except you also have programming, and ragdolls. really cool 10/10 pls don't go extinct for 10 months

this is even cooler holy shit... i downloaded the game and i'm addicted already. i wish there was sound but it's not a dealbreaker at all. i love getting my revolver out and just blowing off the heads of the big dudes to instantly kill them, and then glitching on the corner of the walls to get to the top of the arena and jump down onto the platforms (easiest way to do it)
just another devlog, nothing to see here
next video will be a lot more exciting though, and hopefully won't take three weeks to make again

Terraria's pistols are good too. One of pre-hardmode's strongest guns is litterally a handgun dipped in molten bars from hell

There’s also a game that has a gun that uses aimbot without having to use aimbot.
When you shoot the head off of the big guy you should make his head turn into the little ball enemy so you have to focus his body
I think when his head popped off, his head would grow legs and follow you around whilst shooting at you with a laser

Maby you could make it so if you hit the heavy it is an insta kill for the big guy but it Spaans a little ball guy or bomb
so its a risk reward system

@@merlinthegray Just make the wagon one of those crawly enemies and make the player shoot the guy in the head with a shotgun. That explains why the enemies want to kill you.

Maybe I can offer a suggestion: When the players health starts getting low, have some type of screen affect to indicate this or, the hand and gun LEDs get dimmer like the enemies.
I can't help but love the detachable limbs when you shoot them, reminds me of the detail from Metal Arms: Glitch in the System (RIP that game. x_x)

I actually like the more rigid like movement, since it makes the robots look more robotic.
Suggestions! Add an "Alternate fire" say you have the shotgun equipped, you can right click to load a slug, it has longer range and higher damage BUT it is very slow || Add reload canceling, whenever the reload anim starts you cant switch weaponws and it kinda ruins the flow of combat when im reloading my shotgun for 5 seconds instead of switching weapons! Over this game is freakin amazing I love it to pieces, keep up the great work!
edit: the shotgun is a bad example but say the rifle it takes a few seconds to reload and thats time i could kill a few more and feel like a badass lol

@@alexanderuser1282 oh yeah, I actually found out about it after I made this video lol. which is kinda funny cause GTTOD also started out as an attempt to replicate Titanfall's movement. all the similarities were unintentional though, and my game is still very early on in development, so there will be many more differences later on.

i found a bug: when you run out of ammo like fully on ur revolver and you still have ammo on ur other guns you can't reload on ur other guns

I've actually wanted to start a little project of mine for quite some time now, but I've been really scared to start, since I thought the movement system only is gonna take me months. You make it look so effortless that I might as well start. I know there is a lot of effort behind this. But you show me that it's in fact possible. Also, if you know about some good resources to help me educate myself, I'd be more than happy. I still haven't decided whether I want Unity or Unreal, but I'm more inclined towards Unreal as of now. Thanks for motivating me. Also, love your project!

Suggestion: A flying enemy that could potentially spawn those bomb guys once every ~30 seconds or a more reasonable amount maybe? That way if you dont take care of them first then you're gonna be getting bombs on your head but you can also use them strategically to fight enemies

If your looking for some futuristic guns, the games series section 8 has some really nice ones, also this looks really amazing, looking forward to how it grows, it's the most interesting game i've seen in a while

hi. i just spent about 10 minutes playing your game(Also i just subscribed), and I though of/noticed a couple things that needed to be added.
1. When you run out of ammo(at least in the pistol), it won't automatically reload until you try to shoot your gun. i think it should automatically reload when you run out of ammo.(Kind of like in Overwatch)
2. I think the Wall running and double jumping mechanics are great, but I think it would make it that much better, if you added a sliding mechanic like in Apex(I did notice your Apex comment in the video)
3. I noticed while playing(I don't know what type of game your trying to make(puzzle, battle royal, story based) but I felt like you might want to make it so that their is a difference between walking and running.
4. if you made it this far thank you. now for the final thing i think you should add, is a melee type thing. now it could be simple add just the characters hand punch, or if you want it to be cool, then you could make the melee unique for each gun.
If you are reading this Steven, thank you. and i hope that you consider these ideas. can't wait for version 3!

I love this game, you basically also made my dream game as well. I only wish that maybe you could add a free play mode where you have to do parkour and shoot targets while doing that. I would also love melee weapons, and maybe like ranged weapons based on futuristics elemental energy, like a freeze ray, water torpedoes, earth smash etc. ooh, and enemies with ranged weapons that can climb and take you. I LOVE YOUR GAME CONCEPT I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT IT!!!!!!!!

Hey Steven! Pretty nice game! Physics used correctly! I could suggest a few things regarding designing
1. You could make surfaces a little more vibrant.
2. You could have an option at the start of the game to choose the colour scheme you like
By making the surfaces vibrant, you could just make the divider lines between the tiles, matching to the colour scheme. Overall good work! Love the game!

exploding dead enemies was actually not a bad idea - a lot of games do that, adding some element of surprise and caution. but you do you, this is awesome

Hi Steven. I played the demo and i most say im quite impressed. There are some glitches and you can see that this game is in demo but i really love that you can do parkour around the map, the enemies design and how weapons are made. And because you really want to add more things to the game and you really enjoy making this game, i think that this game will be great.

A 4(ish) person deathmatch would be so cool!!
The enemies are good as drones and stuff, but if you wanna make it highly thrilling, you'd need an elite enemy that could jump and chase you around the map/level. But that might be hard to code, so maybe multiplayer would be easier? Instead of complex AI

Hey Steven, there's a small problem in the second demo of the game.
If you go up to a corner in the map and just spam the spacebar, you basically wall jump up to the top of the map and kill the enemies from there. You might want to fix this, especially if you're going to add a health bar; making use of this trick will basically render you invincible
Imagine making a robot that drops health to heal the player when killed :O

Hunters in D2 with Exotic Handcannons: am I a joke to you?
Something noticeably missing is coyote time, if you don’t already know about it, it’s a system that makes it so that you have a half second of being able to jump after walking off a platform, it makes parkour a lot smoother. And even if it makes the game slightly easier there are extremely difficult games that still have coyote time, like Celeste.
oh yeah lol, I actually added that after people noticed the jumping was too hard, so it should be in the next update

I will take this moment to also inform you of my favourite feature in this game, if you go into a corner, face down and to the right/left you can hold S and spam jump to wall climb to the roof

Suggestion: Add multiple fire modes to the revolver, like a charge shot or ricochet, and a katana. No parkour fps is complete without a katana. The katana could also have multiple modes, like a mode that teleports you to nearby enemies after the kill, a dash move, or a bounce. If you've played super smash bros as Link, you know what I mean by bounce. Its super fun. Also, for inspiration, I found another really cool parkour shooter made in unity. It's called Get to the orange door, and I think it could help with your development to see how a similar game functions.

Idea: make a double barrel shotgun that deals massive damage and has limited ammo
Man this guy is a parkour legend.
This looks great, and i love it! But I do have some ideas. The black platforms in the arena are just floating there, making them easy places to camp and kill enemies from above. So how about you add flying enemies or just have some normal enemies spawning higher up, or give them the ability to jump. Some ideas for flying enemies would be drones that fly above you and drop bombs or bomb-bots, flying drones that try and ram you, bomb-bots... but with wings, or drones that just shoot at you. Also what if you made a sniper type enemy with a big laser cannon? Btw srry this was so long.
Idea: add a machete that is only used for melee or add a rocket launcher that can shoot several enemies at the same time, instantly killing them but it takes about 20 seconds to reload.
Idea : Adding A Shield That You Will Receive After Defeating At least 5 Of The Crab-like Enemies
