I've been living in Morelia since 2021. We rent a beautiful, nearly 4000 sq ft, 3 brd/3 ba home in a great neighborhood for $400 USD per month! Best move ever!
Hi Bill! Remember, you interviewed me at Stone Island not long after we got to central Mexico? Great report from Morelia. We stayed in Patzcuaro (in our RV) last summer for 4 months and loved it. Yeah, the weather was the bomb AND the summer thunderstorms AND on top of that FIREFLIES was so amazing. We left there in September of last year and spent time in Cholula and on to Santa Maria del Tule, Oaxaca and also spent 3 months at the Oaxaca coast near Huatulco in the "winter" this year. (Wow, talk about HOT....the Oaxaca coast is in the 90s (not too humid though) even in the wintertime....and the BUGS.... Yikes!!! I know Oaxaca is one of the most biodiverse places in the world but nobody on Instagram or UA-cam talks about the fact that that also means TONS of bugs. Yeah, in the RV too.... Anyway, nevertheless, we've fallen in love with Oaxaca and are spending the summer and fall here in El Tule (5,000 feet) at the edge of Santa Maria del Tule and 20 min. from central Oaxaca City. Perhaps I'll join your FB group and post some photos. Congrats on your new home!
Thank you for the update, Bill. I'm a Mazatlan escapee, too. I came back to California for the summer and looking for a cooler place in Mexico. I'll be watching your videos to see if Morelia will be my place.
Hey!(: Thanks for sharing us your video! I've been living in Morelia for 20 years and is a beautiful and peace city. You can go to visit 'La Troje' restaurant and also to Patzcuaro city and enjoy the peace of the small city.
Happy for you Bill. Nice place. My apartment in Queretaro has been from 675 USA to 916 USA, but went depends on the peso exchange. My apartment includes everything and a maid and security. Rent is all I have paid from November 2021 to the present. I order groceries etc. online for home delivery.
Even better for me! Patzcuaro! 35 miles from Morelia. 1,000 feet higher in altitude. Same great climate. instead of the noise and pollution from a million people, only about 70,000 folks. Pueblo Majico. Actually, it is wetter and cooler in the summer both places. Cheaper!. Safer!
Hi Bill, love the new place! It seems to have everything you need. I don't like the heat either, so somewhere central would be good for me too. All The Best Bill!🤗🌄🌞
Weather is very important, we were at Mazatlán this year and left right before the heat. Last year we got into the heat a little bit, but not this year.
Twice as cheap, Twice the square footage. Excellente, Bill. Your new pad looks super clean and modern. It even has a washer and dryer. I guess you'll save dinero on laundry nowadays. Glad to see you're doing better and better each day. Take Care & God Bless.
Always great videos with useful information. I have one quick question for you if you have the time: What is the air quality in Morelia? It seems that many higher elevation towns have poor quality air. Thank you and keep these videos coming👍🏻👏🏻✌🏻🤙🏻
Hello GP, I find the air quality of higher elevated places to be fantastic in Ajijic and Morelia. Ajijic has an altitude of about 5,000 feet, Morelia is about 6,100 feet. If you drive from Guadalajara to Ajijic, right before you get to Ajijic you drive up and over a big mountain, once you get to the top of the mountain, all of a sudden, you feel the air quality change for the better instantly. That´s just my experiance. Best, Bill
@@BillDallasLewis thanks so much Bill for responding so quickly to my question. I truly appreciate you taking the time. I just joined FB so I will look for your page.👍🏻✌🏻🤙🏻
I find it wonderful that many Americans are choosing to move abroad in search of better opportunities, but I am concerned about the long-term sustainability of this trend. For example, Bill has been living in Mexico for 20 years, and the cost of living has changed significantly since Covid. There is a possibility that rent in the next location could significantly increase too, leading to local AND expat residents being priced out of their neighborhoods. I worry that this trend may not be sustainable in the long run.
That's a great informative Video after you efforts in researching! Really love them! What safe Cities would you suggest for a moderate budget on the Caribbean side? Thanks
IMVU bill, I would love to come to Mexico I still have a couple of years before I can retire. Thanks for showing us your apartment. It looks wonderful there
Really enjoy your videos. And I love morelia! I've been there and spent some time there. My retirement is coming up in the next year and Morelia is definitely one of the options. I was hoping that you could share with me how it is you find these rentals. Do you have a special realtor you use? Do you use Facebook groups what are the resources that you use to find these amazing rentals? If you don't mind me asking.
Right now I am using the service that comes with my rent. That is only 40 meg, but it works very good. With in the next 10 days I will order my own service, then I will have about 200 meg. I could go much higher for more money but 200 is all I need. Thanks for asking, Best, Bill
Looks like a great place but I had to giggle when I saw a woman walk by with a spaghetti strap top, short shorts and also a dude with a t-shirt and shorts & then you go into why you wearing your layers 😂 too cute. Love you and your channel!
Hello Charrie, I am not sure, but go to Google Maps and look for Morelia and you will be able to see. The taxis are very affordalbe here, so you should be able to get to a close hotel for about $2.00 or less US.
Hi Keb, I rented an AirBnb in El Centro for 5 nights. I told the owner that I was looking for an apartment and I told him that I would only pay 9,000 pesos. That was about 500 dollars US at the time. He found my present apartment for me. He did say that he found a couple of apartments in El Centro, but they were around 14,000 to 16,000 pesos a month, that is about 650 to 750 US dollars per month. I hope that helps, Bill
@@BillDallasLewis it helps a lot! As soon as I get everything squared away I’m coming to Morelia and stay for a month and see if that’s where I want to stay. I do want an apartment closer to Centro, or I think I do lol. Thanks for the help!

Yeap, but I like it.
Great appartment, love the price, does the weather get warmer than 22 Celsius?
Ok, 22 c is 71 F, so yes, it goes up to about 80f or more every day.
wow, good for you.
Yes, thank you
Can you do a video on the health care system in Morelia? Private hospitals, clinics, Mexican insurance?
I will put that on my list
I liked El centro
Thank's for the vital information 🎉 bill is hotel walking distance to bus station. Going to the airport?.❤ let me know. Florida USA

Morelia is beautiful 😍 but how is the safety in there ??🤔
I would say the safety here is as safe or more safe than any city in th USA. They don´t sell AK 47s at Seven Eleven here.
Bill do you have an estimate on what apartments go for closer to Centro?
Hi Keb,
I rented an AirBnb in El Centro for 5 nights. I told the owner that I was looking for an apartment and I told him that I would only pay 9,000 pesos. That was about 500 dollars US at the time.
