Thanks for introducing and sharing us this video. At least we know where to go to whilst driving up north. We usually don't stop in Taiping as we were not aware of where to stop for a good meal. Hence, will avoid the town and drive straight to Penang. Now we are looking forward to try out the few places you have recommended. Looks extremely tasty. Also, definitely in my list will be 'Kakak Peng' . So authentic. Not sure how it taste like... like the idea of barley drink and coffee. 🤤🤤Looking forward to your next video on the best cafe. Hopefully it includes some authentic local coffee and tea.
You should eat fried Fish Ball Guai Tiao炒鱼丸粿條 at Larut Matang Hawker Center. The taste is found only in Taiping. Those olden day the 打包"take away" Fish Ball Guai Tiao packed in green big leave大婆葉子. When open it, wow! The fried fish ball Guai Tiao mixed with the leave natural smell. Good to taste!
Hey, it's great of you to do a recommendation of all the popular foods and drinks in Taiping coz I've not actually stopped over here for that! Thanksss!!
Love your video, very informative, entertaining and well made! We only made it to Larut Matang Hawker Centre when visiting relatives but after seeing the other alternative places we might try others! keep it up.
The Chew Teow Fried Kueh Teow next to the chicken rice stall is very nice. Each time I came back to Taiping, you have to wait 1/2 hr for the delicious fried even though you do not see much people around. They order the food first n went to buy kueh much (very nice n authentic). Stall Tim Kee sells nice chicken slice kueh teow soup
And this is just part 1 of all those yummy food and famous destinations, wow Ck! I make sure to watch your vids while having my meal as well or else I’m gonna crave badly for all the food you featured hehehe! Nice Episode once again! 😃👍🏻🥂🎉❤️⭐️ No doubt this city is your Top Choice! 😃👍🏻 So Charming & Genteel!
Opposite the former Rex cinema is the coffee shop offer the best fruit Rojak in Taiping not forgetting the lok lok, curry Mee, curry mixed with Laksa n it's famous red bean drink. U have missed the famous Bismillah restaurant near to the fish market (just famous for its cendol).. There is one apom stall in Pokok Assam selling in the market. Just ask anyone if you r not sure. The old lady(in her 80s) sells the best apom in Taiping.
I asked why my friend why the place is called Taiping. She said there was some industrial riots before and then it eventually ended so the villagers called it Taiping... somrthing like that.
A small comment though. Since you are doing solo to all the various towns in Malaysia, hunting for good, cheap & wholesome food. do a ballot for 1 or 2 persons to follow/accompany, & whoever is selected will have to pay for their share in accomodation, transport & food. The whole idea is that there are such persons who are interested. Thanks & Regards Rwws
Hahaha...I guess you are the only one that featured chicken rice stall in Larut Matang Food Court. But don't get me wrong, they are ok. For better chicken rice, they are not in the food court, they have their own shop instead.
How can you introduce Taiping foods without mentioning the 2 good cendol stalls there (Bismillah and Ansari)?? To be honest I think they are better than the overrated Penang Road cendol. In addition, it may be worth mentioning that Larut Matang food court has the excellent wantan mee, Ah Leng fried kway teow and Taiping Fish balls fried kway teow. The chicken rice was average at best! Lastly, may be I left Taiping too long but hot ka sai was never that popular in Taiping. It is big in Kuala Kurau (Perak) nearer to Penang.
@@CKology you are welcome. since you are from Penang, give the Taiping cendol a try and see if you like it. Food is very personal but I do think the 2 Taiping cendol stalls are decent and much cheaper to say the least. Larut Matang Food Court. If you haven't tried the jawa mee (or the mee rebus) @ stall no.50(?), give it a try too. It is not as good as what i had ages ago but its prawn cracker is still worth the price of admission! The wantan mee (with red sign) is the one i love most among all wantan mee in Malaysia.
Nope, to me Taiping chendol does not taste better than Penang ones. I’ve tried Bismillah, Ansari and Penang Road chendol a few timestamps before i conclude on my prefereance.
The Larut Matang market is not 30 years as you mentioned it is already 60+ years. You only show the chee cheong fun and char seiw fun, there are many other good food in this market. The teow chew fish ball fried koay teow only found in Taiping is really delicious. The best curry mee, kai see mee with the nice sambal and mee rebus in this market is a must try. The best nyonya koay in this market only in the afternoon.

Thanks for the info! I have to do part 2!
Which part of Pokok Asam? I have walked from Taman Assamara all the way to Taiping Town but never noticed anyone selling apom
If you see the Sport Toto shop, u can just walk a bit up the road. Aunty sells apom in the morning n evening.
@@josephinekok1578 Thanks
There is a famous loh bak stall and fried kueh teow in Peace hotel. Just try them. You will never regret. Uncle had been there selling for decades
Part 2!
is there good char kway teow in Taiping?
Yes at larut matang food court
Would you do a stop over in Kampar and check out one or 2 restorens if you heading that way?
Ah yes! Kampar is ON my list!
Corrections on HOR GA SAI: Hor is Tiger, Sai is Lion... & it's Tiger BITES Lion, not EATING. Cheers!
Thanks for pointing dat out!
What about the famous and one of its kind fish balls fried Kuey Tiow found only in Larut Matang Hawkers Center, Taiping town? Not to be missed! 😜
Timing was bad, they were not open … so part 2! Lol 🍴
True...this fish ball fried kuey tiaw can only be found in Taiping
Do you mind to recommend the best hotels to stay in Taiping ? Thanks!
Novotel!
Perdana hotel or ssl traders hotel or warisan hotel
I asked why my friend why the place is called Taiping. She said there was some industrial riots before and then it eventually ended so the villagers called it Taiping... somrthing like that.

Yes indeed Taiping meaning peace. Welcome to Taiping got so many hidden gem to discover 🥰
I trust it is Gang Fight due to Run Ore Mining. After big fight came peace...." Tai- Peng" in Cantonese, Big Peace.
For me the best Chee cheong fun is the one sold in the market behind Taiping Mall.
Oh I must try 🍲
Try to fried keow teow with salted fish next shop
Ah I heard about that!
Would love if you showcase some vegetarian eateries. Thank you 😊
Yeah I’ll try

I prefer going solo, if you have not notice! lol... but thanks for the suggestion
This is Covid Times....not recommended to go in a crowd. Solo Good Enough!..
Milo is not a local drink ,it originated from 80 years ago from Smithtown Australia.
Ah! Good 2 know!
Another brilliant Aussie contribution to world culture. 😉
What title of background music sir
I cannot recall
Hokasai 虎咬狮 (Hu3 Yao3 Shi1 in Mandarin) is said in Hokkien, so it's actually Tiger Bite Lion. Not Lion bite Tiger.
Thank u for the correction
You're most welcome, and thanks for the suggestions, in fact we just came back from Taiping whacking some food 😂
lucky you!
Taiping, ok la.

I saw so many people line up!
I am in Taiping at the moment. Where is this chicken rice resto?
this hawker centre more then 70 years already.
It’s really amazing
18000
18,000?
???? Hor Ka Sai, 好架世 as per my translation literally means something like 'Very Grand' 😀
That could be the case! LOL
Been to taiping. Not many singporeans know about this place.
Shhhhh... let's keep it a hidden gem
@@CKology That right less the place be 3 times more expansive!..

Maybe Hor Ga Sai was meant to be interpreted as "Very Grand" in Cantonese? Lol!😅
Quite possible ⛳️
Or is it "HO SAi Kai"??
It's actually the local version of cafe mocha.
Correction: is ka ka peng, not kakak peng
😂 alright!
Ho ka sai originally from kuala kurau and not taiping the first
Oh! Good to know 📌

Ah ok!
Malaysia first hospital also !
so true!

@@ooiyupeck9008 yes, love the mee rebus especially the prawn crackers
Hor ga sai Is tiger bite lion n not lion bite tiger.
thanks for pointing this out
Hor Ga Sai is Tiger bite Lion in Hokkien, you got it the other round but then u said it correctly after that haha
Sorry I got nervous with all the uncle staring at me while filming
Subtitle??? 😂
tak ada
Ho ga sai sounds like a Cantonese.
some say too
Not eating lion…is bitting lion
lol
Taiping lebih ok Dari Penang. Penang ada Ka no 3

Why always say boys and girls only? Uncles and aunties leh ... don't leave them out ma.....
