@@honeysuckle "dear Boston market: why haven't you responded about your trademark cheddar bay biscuits?! I'm starting to think you don't care about your signature Boston market cheddar bay biscuits!" 🤣
I worked at Red Lobster in college and believe me, the endless shrimp was too much. It made us servers and the kitchen staff have three times as much work added onto what was already hectic.
I remember seeing an old pop sugar video’s comment where a red lobster employee said that they just added shredded cheddar and old bay to nesquick biscuit dough, and brushed the shrimp scampi sauce on them afterwards!
What!!! I feel like that makes so much sense haha the biscuit dough texture reminded me spot of pancake batter if you reduce the liquid. I need to test this theory.
The thing about Red Lobster is they may have filed for bankruptcy but they're not gone. I still have one open near me and I get emails all the time saying hey we're still here, and we have this special going on. So they may be down but they're not out yet
Good to know! And I'm wishing them all the best to survive the struggle! I'm german. So I've only been there once. But I really liked it. Restaurant prices in the US have gone up very much in the US, recently. More than here in Germany. (Example: we where out for dinner, when my mom turned 90, last month. It was 130€ for the 4 of us. Including drinks. My brother said that lately they where likely to pay some 80 to 90$ for 2, over in KS.) A favourite place to go for me was (and I hope they are still around) "The Cow" in Edmond, OK. Amazing burgers and the best onion rings, ever!
0:33 I used to work at the wrong end of a phone line doing directory assistance at a contractor. The ways people would mangle "Buca di Beppo" was a source of infinite amusement for me.
You can dupe the cheddar bay biscuits by making Bisquick drop biscuits and adding the Old Bay and shredded cheese, then brushing with garlic herb butter. I still have a Buca location and several Red Lobsters in my area. I’ve never heard of the salad place, but I do miss Boston Market. I don’t have a Costco membership, so I can’t speak to their rotisserie chicken.
Oh mannn, Buca Di Beppo took me back 😂 we went for my friend's 16th birthday party and there was a waiter there who was SO cute (who didn't serve us) and we talked about him the whole time. Then he let us take a picture with him as we were leaving 😅
The one I really miss is Sweet Tomatoes/Souplantation. My bestie (soon to be sister in law! Yay!) and I used to go there like every weekend with our Starbucks tips and go absolutely ham on salad and soup.
There’s still a Boston market and red lobster in my area, we have sesame place here in Langhorne Pennsylvania so all the restaurants do pretty well here.
I worked for Boston Market for years in the 2010's. Costco chickens are decent, but Boston Market's were more flavorful. Handling the chicken wasn't my department, but they were brined in apple cider vinegar, I know that much. Costco's chickens are inordinately huge BTW, I remember people would see the half chicken meal and they'd get mad at us cause they were expecting a Costco sized chicken. That "added" in "No added steroids or hormones" has me suspicious, cause those things are definitely juiced somehow.
I ate at Bucco De Beppu only once and it was an extra-large gathering of family of about a dozen people. Everything about the food was fantastic. We had individual orders and several group dishes, which we all had portions of each was fantastic and memorable. They closed our only Bucco De Beppu operation, but their dishes are fantastic. One of the dishes that I loved was their Lemon Chicken. I wish I had gone more, but that memory of that Lemon Chicken will always remain.
The frozen red lobster cheddar bay biscuits are so much better than their flour box version you have to make. You should try them! My family bought some & baked them but idk where they got them from. They come already made & I feel like they are the closest to the real thing. If not better bc/ red lobster has been slacking w\ their biscuits even from the restaurant.
We still have Buca, Red Lobster, and Boston Market over in FL. We don’t have as many as we used to, but they are still pretty easy to find. Ok- do this again but do Sweet Tomatoes (those ALL closed, although I think a few reopened recently somewhere in the country) and Fuddruckers (they still have a few left, but they are pretty hard to find).
Omg I though if I'd ever get a chance to go visit USA I'd love to eat in some Red Lobster... what am I gonna do now ? 😩 Great video Dzung, fish taco and fluffy biscuits look very tasty !
And I do miss Boston market one of my favorite restaurant. They always had the best cream of spinach like my go to was actually their dinner plate. You get a rotisserie chicken too sad and you’re good for the whole day.
Hey love your videos btw your chocolate chip cookie recipe has been a MASSIVE hit with friends family and coworkers I’ve done a few tweaks and I’ll be honest the last batch I made I’m not sure I’ll be able to remake it
We have a Bucca in my town in SoCal. I can't believe people still eat there. We had a rubio's and a Boston Market too. We also have Red Lobster( Still open) LOL. Home of Magic Mountain and chain restaurants.
Red Lobster isn't completely out of business. There's still one here at least. I considered ordering it on Door Dash yesterday but got some chicken instead.
Costco chicken convert here. I also used to get rotisserie chicken from Sam's Club too, but Costco was opened close to where my mom lives (and where I visit to help her out when not doing shift work at a hospital near Atlanta)😂
Not bankrupt but not sure if it's the same with the current McDonalds Pizza compared to the 1990s version. Did found why the 90s version was very tasteful since it uses the same buttered crust like Lou Malnati’s Pizzeria as well as the same TurboChef ovens used by Subway. Actually a lot of those 1990s TurboChef overs end up being bought by Subway after McDonalds discontinued their McPizza. There's a UA-cam instruction video for the buttered crust pizza that got taken down(trade secrets) but it's just butter and grated parmesan cheese was put on the pan before the deep dish dough was placed in it. As for Red Lobster's Cheddar Bay Biscuits, I was told by one of the cooking staff is that having a convection/steam oven makes a big difference in making the biscuits moist&fluffy compared to the common dry heat baking oven at home. Something like the Dreo ChefMaker Combi Fryer would be ideal for home use to make Red Lobster's biscuits. Also for a quick Shrimp scampi hack, i usually use greek salad dressing(without the feta&bacon) and added butter to bake it.
The meat prices is America are ridiculous. In Austria zwei pices of filet chicken cost around 7-8€, which I actually find to be a fair price when you think about the animal behind the product
lmfao came here for this, i know that was just editing jazz and probably not real screen recording but im picturing the poor soon to be unemployed social media employee getting that dm and being even more depressed
You can buy a box mix. But biscuits are super easy. I make a grain free version. There's a bit of garlic powder in the biscuit, and cheese, and on top after baked, melted garlic butter and parsley added.
When people asked for it in the Restaurant, we were told to just tell them to use Bisquick mix, add cheddar cheese, after baking brush with a garlic butter sauce.
You should make a video at Fowl Play Hot Chicken in Gallatin Tennessee to do their challenge called the home run challenge it's so hot you have to sign a waver, and their food is amazing I'm sure that would be a good Video.
Man, I wish you were really doing the Boston market chicken. I worked there and know the recipe and I was curious to see if you had the actual recipe or not. I actually use it on my Thanksgiving turkey from time to time. Spoiler alert it was the brine not the rotisserie anybody can make a rotisserie chicken. You gotta know what to put in the brine.
Red lobster isn’t completely gone. They filed ch 11. The one in my area is still open. Also, you left out that private equity did what private equity does. It’s sucks the life aka money out of a business and then leaves it on life support.
I worked at Boston Market and that made me never want to eat there again. The chicken is the one thing made fresh but they keep a giant bucket of grease in the back from the chicken and it smells so bad
@honeysuckle I remember that the restaurant I worked at in the Netherlands would keep the grease, oil etc in a separate drum. You can't flush it down the drain because it would clog the plumbing. The oil from the fryers would get collected once a month and made into biodiesel. I would think the grease of chicken isn't allowed to be dumped since it can attract bugs, or even the risk of people slipping. Sometimes animal fat would be collected to put in dog food etc
They sell a box mix of the cheddar bay biscuits in grocery stores that tastes just like the original, so you don't have to make it from scratch! It's a 10/10
Red Lobster is still around here in Oregon. The box biscuits are probably a separate division from the restaurants. Kind of like how most Marie Callendar’s closed, except for the California locations, but their frozen food business is going strong in Walmarts. Though the restaurant chicken pot pie is way better than the frozen.
Lol girl, you dm’d Boston Market instead of Red Lobster!! But those cheddar bay biscuits did look bomb!! I gotta try your recipe!

Hi! I’d like to know where/brand of the small pink pot with cross cross handle on top? It’s so cute!!
The funny thing Olive Garden Ashley owned red lobster was actually on by the same company
Yes, Olive Garden and Red Lobster were both owned by Darden, the actual Corporation, until a few years ago, when Darden dropped Red Lobster.
in the grain free dupes of the Red Lobster Biscuits, there is no Old Bay. I think it's just a nod to being sea food
Red Lobster isn't completely out of business. There's still one here at least. I considered ordering it on Door Dash yesterday but got some chicken instead.
The size of the meatballs is a compromise. Big meatballs are easier to do in quantities, small meatballs gets more maillard browning.
