sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot my account password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
@Zachary Gabriel i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
I know this was 7 years ago. However, just wanted to say, "thank you!". You are the first one I have seen that tells people to let the cuttings sit for an hour and harden off before planting them. A very important step.
I have one. I put it outside in middle of april to get the sunlight and because was really hot, but a cold and windy day came from nowhere and i forget to put it inside. then my plant came to my mine and i went outside the next day to get my plant and it was dead. i cried so much for my plant. i never throw it always, cause i have faith that it going to survive . i get this plant like a gift from my boss when i have a cancer surgery and i name it survivor since i have it for 21 years. i know on my heart she going to make it like me. Everyday pass and i talk to her, the one day i saw two babies coming from the bottom. i cried again but for happiness. i jump like crazy and i always talk to with my plant. i told her you dead but she give two babies. i promise ill never will kill them like i killed you. already gave me 4. But im worry to remove the from her mom. but know with this video, ill prune her and have more babies. Im a survivor and my plant be with since. Thanks for sharing this video.
Thank you, Khang. My trees got in real bad shape on my front porch when some unseasonal cold temps came overnight. I hated that I had to propogate them, but in the long run, I'll have at least a dozen trees. This video is exactly what I was looking for. God bless you!
Yes I totally agree with you! Mine is dieing I think it will be my first plant for this winter. So I thought that was going on, cold. Until I seen this video. I pulled out the other little one & up root rot. So I cut all the slime off & maybe 1-2 little white roots. Now to the bigger tree size that has shoots starting to turn brown. So yes this video is educational in my opinion. Thanks for sharing.
I tried this process and it worked!!!! My cutting grew roots. I decided to insert the cutting straight into the same pot with the mother plant (there was enough space) and it rooted! Amazing. I kept the soil fairly moist. Thank you so much.
Great video for the common man without all the fancy tools. The scissors and simple pots are available everywhere. No need for fancy cutting tools or fancy bottles.
Thank you for the information! I am the third owner of my 20+ year old tree, my mom got it after my grandmother passed and I got it from her. It is over 5 feet tall and severly root bound, I hope to scale it back into multiple trees of more manageable heights.
This is how mine is. It belonged to my mom. It is over 40 years old and it’s grown out of control. The palm parts bend from the weight, but the main stalk of the tree is over 5 feet high and would love to chop it in half if possible. I’m so nervous to separate it since it is so old. Would feel weird to me separating any part of it since it’s so dear to me.
just perfect! now I wont be afraid to deal with my friends dragon plants, we been asking each other how to prpagate her dragon plants coz her plants grown so high and she doesnt know how to care for it, she will be moving to her new house and most of her plants grown so tall. thank yoou for this tip...very much appreciated young fella...
Your voice is out of this world. You should do voice-overs or meditations! Thank you for the upload. I should have seen this earlier when mine was tiny but see a new one now growing at the root. This one is going to be cut off and going into a new pot. Now I know how. : - ) x
Such a helpful video, Thanks! I didn’t realise you had to let them dry out a bit and remove leaves..probably why mine never grew. Hopefully my future cuttings will work now, thanks to this video :)
New to planting but this also looks like a great money saving tip. Buy 1 plant, separate it, wait for them to grow now you have extra ones to give as a gift to friends! :)
thanks for this video, I have this plant in the ground on my porch garden for the last 30 years at least. anyways the "trunk" of it is probably around 15" in diameter I've cut it down so many times, and it's got about 20 canes coming off it. I intend to start some cuttings, see which one takes, and then dig up the old one and start over from the single again. the stump/trunk of it is so big and gnarly at this point from all the years of cutting it down to the shorter canes it just looks weird and wrong now.
This is the most amazing video and so thoroughly done with Dracaena Marginata propagation ! In love with your demonstration ♥️🙌🏼🙏🏼 TYSM for the wonderful information 🙌🏼✨
Thank you. Your method makes so much more sense than water propagation; I tried that way and got soggy stems. 🤨 Don’t know why I did that because marginatas don’t even like to be watered much.
Thank you for this! So helpful. I have a huge dragon tree. About 5 feet. 1 branch has a boomerang shape & sprouted 2 shoots by the base. Not sure where to cut it. Can you help? Also, would love to see a new update on these if you still have them.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!! I overwatered my gigantic dracaena and thought it was done for. I was able to save parts of it thanks to this video! They are growing new roots now!
I neglected my lovely plant and thought that I’d lost him. The tips lost their leaves and shrivelled up! But despite that it’s thrown out new growth and I’m just about to pot on some of the growing stems. I’ve asked the plant if it’s OK, so it will be prepared!
Can I try it with just leaves? By some miracle that it would, what would be the best way about doing it? Just plant it in normal soil like if it had a stalk?
Thanks for the video! Propagating a pair of dragon trees I got for a dollar at a big box hardware store's clearance rack. Fingers crossed I can save them. :)
When I propagate my Madagascars, I sit mine in the window sill so they get good morning sun, and water them once a week. I don't recommend putting them in full sunlight for longer than 4 hours until they get big enough to handle more water 💜
I'm trying to figure out if I should cut one of the shoots off my dragon tree. I just caught a few of the other ones off and accidentally snapped on main one off that I didn't want off of there but I am going to replant that part anyway but now I've got one wildly growing sideways that I really want to trim but the plant is over 30 years old and I don't want to do something that's going to make it look horrible
Thank you for this video! However I have a question. I watched another video on repotting. And the guy said to not snip the foliage with scissors but to prune it by pulling the leaves downwards popping them off the trunk. Does it make a difference?
Kayla Bear yes, I’ve had a dragon tree for years, you should always prune by grabbing the leaf at the base and popping them off in a downwards motion. You can cut them off as shown in the video but I personally don’t recommend it 🌴
Kayla Bear - you can do either. My yard is crawling with dragon plants and I had no idea what I was doing for a loooong time and I tried both. If you pull the leaves off, it leaves the stem/branch with a cleaner look bc you don’t have little leaf nubbins sticking out. No matter how close you try to trim, you will never get quite as tidy of a look as pulling the leaves off. But both do work just fine with no ill consequence to the plant that I have found. The one caveat is that with itty bitty plants it’s tough to get enough of a pulling action without yanking the fragile plant around, esp if it’s a recent propagation without large root development. But if you pull the whole plant out of the soil, just stick it back in the dirt! These things are hardy.
That's cool Khang. I've been doing basically the same thing with yucca plants. Those things will grow in any kind of soil and the one I started with many years ago got no care at all as far as I know, except for when it rained. Of course they do even better if you water them. They will do well in any weather extreme, hot or cold. Its too bad all plants are not that tough and hardy. Thanks for the video man.
Great video.....I think I will trying rescuing one of those unlucky discounted Dragon Tress at my local Lowes on the discounted cart and propogate them as you have shown in this wonderful video. Thanks sharing.
Thanks for your informative video! ❤ i inherited one of these plants that has only one trunk and very tall - hitting the ceiling! The trunk is only about the thickness of my thumb, so I cut it down into quarters, with only leaves at the top of one piece of stalk. I’m trying to root each part of the stalk in water - do you think the parts without any leaves will live? Do you think I should use the dirt method or soak in water instead, since most cuttings have no leaves?
Thank you for the video. Could you please tell us whether it's better/necessary to do the propagation during a certain time of year? For example winter? spring?
I have a seven foot tall dracena marginata, it has thinner, smaller branches coming off the main tree branch, and the small ones are very thin and curly, should I trim them off and try to transplant them??? Thank you...
hola buen día, tengo de esa planta, cuanto tiempo se debe dejar para que tenga raíz gracias, muy buen video

Hello Khang! I have two of these plants...this vid was very helpful. Great job! Would you PLEASE consider doing a demo on how to cut new heads on a corn tree? I have one and am afraid I haven't been able to find a decent video on "how to" cut a head on a corn tree. Thank you!
A month ago I bought a dracena, and I repoted it, because it has it's roots trough the pot. I had two of them in one pot, small one and big one (booth of them had 4 parts). Both of them had beautiful leaves and growing new ones. But the smaller one started loosing it leaves, perfectly geeen leaves?! I repoted it, because I wanted to see what is happening..and the part was like rooten but dry at the same time..do you know what that means?!
I've just bought a thick stem dracaena with 3 stems in the pot. The new sprouts on the lower stems are getting intertwined and the whole thing looks crowded. Can I split them and repot them individually?
If I cut it the way you did, how long does it take the tree to spread again? I did cut my tree 3-4 months ago but since then the tree did not spread again.
Wonderful thank you i got my plant from a friend who no longer wanted hers, its tall, (over six feet),and very leggy but I'm gong to be very brave re-pot the tops leave the mother stem and the stems in the middle put them in some water and try some in soil.
I tossed a 5yr old dracaena cuz the leaves hung down (like hair) after I temporarily moved them to a higher light. I hated to throw an otherwise healthy plant away, but no change after a couple yrs. I have another pot of dracaena that had too many plants in it. I separated them & 1 pot looks great the other has the DREADED DOWNWARD DROOP. Any suggestions?
Nice work. I have store bought large one with three trunks, it was in a an east facing window almost lost all leaves, moved it to north facing window (no direct sunlight) seems to like. I am still learning this plant but seems to not like direct light. Do you have yours getting direct sunlight or only indirect?
Hi i found ur video trying to find something opposite to what you have done here, my dracaena marginata is one single shoot or stem, and I want to make it 2 or 3 shoots, is that possible and if yes, how. Thanks in advance 😃
I love that the two week update is in the same video.
sorry to be so offtopic but does any of you know of a method to get back into an Instagram account?
I stupidly forgot my account password. I would love any assistance you can give me!
@Xander Keagan instablaster :)
@Zachary Gabriel i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site thru google and I'm in the hacking process now.
Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Zachary Gabriel it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my account!
@Xander Keagan happy to help :D

You should do sleep videos. You have a very soothing voice.
😂😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 really...I was in a relax mood watching the video...ahummmm
Absolutely!!
I agree, very calming voice!! 😁
Like Bob Ross voice 😅

Were you able to propagate these ones successfully? Mine is over 7ft tall 😮
@@khart091 I wasn't 😢 I repotted and tried making some props as well and ended up losing the whole thing
just perfect! now I wont be afraid to deal with my friends dragon plants, we been asking each other how to prpagate her dragon plants coz her plants grown so high and she doesnt know how to care for it, she will be moving to her new house and most of her plants grown so tall. thank yoou for this tip...very much appreciated young fella...
I tried this in early May. It's December now and they're alive and growing tall! Thanks
Your voice is out of this world. You should do voice-overs or meditations! Thank you for the upload. I should have seen this earlier when mine was tiny but see a new one now growing at the root. This one is going to be cut off and going into a new pot. Now I know how. : - ) x
Excellent, clear video. Off to propagate my trees now!
I’m putting your videos on repeat to help relax. New subbie.
🤣🤣🤣
How is your dragon tree doing today?
yes pls show us
He sounds like a pilot... image him saying "Enjoy your trip and thank you for flying southwest airlines" 🛫🛫🛫
Highlife41
LOL....comment section always extend my life.
🤣🤣🤣
Sweet !
Lol...he does...
This is so awesome! I had no idea it was this easy and I love these Marginatas so so much! Thank you!
Well that was easy enough. I have a Dracaena and I love it. Definitely gonna be doing this to mine
Did you repot the mother plant in a pot without hole in the bottom? How often do you water them? Do you put them indoors?
Such a helpful video, Thanks! I didn’t realise you had to let them dry out a bit and remove leaves..probably why mine never grew. Hopefully my future cuttings will work now, thanks to this video :)
I very much liked your video, especially the way you came back in one hour and in two weeks
I water mine once a week fertilizer 3 to 5 months. And put it in partial sun. It's beautiful 😍.
New to planting but this also looks like a great money saving tip. Buy 1 plant, separate it, wait for them to grow now you have extra ones to give as a gift to friends! :)
hey, thanks for the video :)
can you share, how much do you water the new propegated plants?
thanks for this video, I have this plant in the ground on my porch garden for the last 30 years at least. anyways the "trunk" of it is probably around 15" in diameter I've cut it down so many times, and it's got about 20 canes coming off it. This is the most amazing video and so thoroughly done with Dracaena Marginata propagation ! In love with your demonstration ♥️🙌🏼🙏🏼
TYSM for the wonderful information 🙌🏼✨
This is the best video on this type of plant! Thanks for the update after 2 weeks!
I only discovered this channel by accident a few days ago and am learning lots....
Same for me, I overwatered and got root rot. Did your new plants survive this method?
I neglected my lovely plant and thought that I’d lost him. The tips lost their leaves and shrivelled up! But despite that it’s thrown out new growth and I’m just about to pot on some of the growing stems. I’ve asked the plant if it’s OK, so it will be prepared!

This video was very helpful l just bought a dragon tree and can't wait to propagate my plant. Thanks for your clear instruction.
I've started to grow my own Carolina reapers. And your pepper videos really helped me
Thanks for the video! Propagating a pair of dragon trees I got for a dollar at a big box hardware store's clearance rack. Fingers crossed I can save them. :)
What about the lighting of the plants during the two weeks growth you show. thank you.
I was just getting ready to repot mine. I didn't know you could cut and crow them like that. TY
Very helpful video. Just a couple of questions. During those two weeks where do you place them? and do you continue watering them regularly or not?
When I propagate my Madagascars, I sit mine in the window sill so they get good morning sun, and water them once a week. I don't recommend putting them in full sunlight for longer than 4 hours until they get big enough to handle more water 💜
came for the tips, stayed for your voice.
Cool video Khang. Surprised the parent plant did so well despite leaving no foliage. Thanks for sharing!
These are really unique plants and so easy to propagate. Yes, it's crazy how there is nothing left and it still live. Thanks for stopping by Rob!
Good work. You shared an update of the same potted plant in 2 weeks.
Could you show how the plant is locking today?
thanks I have a couple of dragon trees and always wanted to try this, now I know how I will be doing it this week!
I'm trying to figure out if I should cut one of the shoots off my dragon tree. Thank you SO much for this - it’s just what I needed to give me the confidence to propagate from my dragon plant!
Same! I paid $30 for mine and it's been exploding and had been wanting to propagate it to make more.
How often do you water these cuttings? I am about to do this to mine today.
Thank you for this video! However I have a question. I watched another video on repotting. And the guy said to not snip the foliage with scissors but to prune it by pulling the leaves downwards popping them off the trunk. Does it make a difference?

You're welcome.
Great video.....I think I will trying rescuing one of those unlucky discounted Dragon Tress at my local Lowes on the discounted cart and propogate them as you have shown in this wonderful video. Thanks sharing.
Flo Saforo nice .. i just did that and now I'm researching.
Omg...perfect vid! I have the exact plant and needed guidance to propagate. Thank you!!!
My original plants do not have branches to cut off ... very tall plants about 5 feet tall, 2 in each pot. Cut off the tops?
Thanks for your informative video! ❤ i inherited one of these plants that has only one trunk and very tall - hitting the ceiling! Great video! It's my first time propagating a plant 😀
Wow, I came on here to learn about my plant and then I was memorized by your voice 😍
Great video 🌱💚
Could the very tops be propagated? My grandson knocked my 2 yr old plants over and the very tops broke off.
very nice video when i cut the branchies, have i leave them inside the cuttings? thank you
Is necessary to let dry the branches after the cutting? 🤔
I wonder how they look today. :) Are the "kids" having a three-way stem also?
Another awesome successful video! You are my all time favorite grower on youtube.
This video was so relaxing to watch, thank you! I will try this!!
What do you do when there are no off shoots but is getting too tall?
Any specific season to do the propagation or can we also do it now , in october?
Thank you for the video. Could you please tell us whether it's better/necessary to do the propagation during a certain time of year? For example winter? spring?
Spring or fall
I have a seven foot tall dracena marginata, it has thinner, smaller branches coming off the main tree branch, and the small ones are very thin and curly, should I trim them off and try to transplant them??? Thank you...
hola buen día, tengo de esa planta, cuanto tiempo se debe dejar para que tenga raíz gracias, muy buen video

i have followed your advice but my main plant is not showing any signs of new shoots after 3 weeks
A month ago I bought a dracena, and I repoted it, because it has it's roots trough the pot. I had two of them in one pot, small one and big one (booth of them had 4 parts). How do the cuttings turn into trees, in terms of new shoots growing out of it?
If I cut it the way you did, how long does it take the tree to spread again?
I did cut my tree 3-4 months ago but since then the tree did not spread again.
I bought one a year ago and I don’t really see any new growth. Any recommendations that I may be doing wrong?
My dragon tree is like 5ft tall and keeps growing. Should I trim the top?
does the stem thicken up with time? everytime i gut my plant back the stem grows half the size
How often would you water if you keep them indoors ?
How often do you water when you do this please?
What kind of soil you use for this cutting only garden soil or mix something.
Hi I never knew you could do this. I have had my dragon tree 7 years now. Can you only do this when the plant is young?
@khang How often do you water the cuttings while trying to get them to root?
How often did you water the cuttings?
do they need to be under direct sun while rooting?
That parent plant - did you use a pot with drainage? And any stones at the bottom or sth? Cause I dodn't see you use any...
nope, this pot has no drainage holes because it's for my office. Can't have it leaking =). Just don't water too much.
Hi. Very helpful thank you. Did you water the babies within that 2 week period?
Hi!
At what time of year is it right to do these actions?
Thank you!
Why i can't have subtitles in Greek?
Can you change this?
Would rooting hormone powder be ok to use on this plant?
Thanks a lot for your great video, do you think it just need a water for growing up or can add some additives with water?
You'll need to fertilize them every once in a while.
How much days or month later to rooting by drasaena ?
My dragon plant the leaves are dropping and I don’t know what to do ? Can you give me some advice for proper tlc?
Can you propagate them in water?
Nice work. I have store bought large one with three trunks, it was in a an east facing window almost lost all leaves, moved it to north facing window (no direct sunlight) seems to like. I am still learning this plant but seems to not like direct light. Do you have yours getting direct sunlight or only indirect?
It sits outside in indirect light under my patio. It gets a few hours of morning sun, but not much.
Just found this Chanel and would love an update !!
Have you got any updated vids about these cut parts?
Hi i found ur video trying to find something opposite to what you have done here, my dracaena marginata is one single shoot or stem, and I want to make it 2 or 3 shoots, is that possible and if yes, how. Thanks in advance 😃
I can't figure out how to add a pic here so i can show my dracaena
How come you put the larger plant in a pot that doesn't drain?
