Ooooh - love those metal upgrades, Derek! That's a very cool and capable CC01 you got there. Looking lovely in the forest, sure seems to drive well and all the better for the 55T motor. Nice upload, buddy! 😁👍
Thank you very much Mark. I actually bought this back in February 2019, and made this video in October 2020, but never got round to uploading it. It was good eBay find, especially with all the GPM upgrades. It had only been run a few times and had spent most of it's life as a shelf queen with its previous owner. I bought it for a ridiculously cheap price too considering all of the upgrades it came with. The next thing to do at some point in the future is a driver. Have a good weekend my friend.
Hi Derek, hope your keeping well. What a fantastic looking VW work horse and wow! Some money has been spent on the upgrades to that chassis! Those GPM upgrade parts will certainly have improved the RC’s performance. Nice work there Derek, thanks for showing us. Take care and keep safe and well.😉😊
Hello John. Thank you very much for your nice comment. The previous owner spent a lot of money upgrading this CC-01, and apart from three runs it was a shelf queen before I bought it. I own six other CC-01's and it's been interesting seeing what a difference all these upgrades have made to the performance of this chassis. There is an improvement but personally I'd rather buy a more capable RC for a similar amount of money that all these upgrades cost. I hasten to add I bought this one for a very low price back in February 2019. Have a good weekend my friend. 🙂👍
Hi Mikael. Thank you very much for your kind words my friend. I have 6 other CC-01's. One is box stock and still has plastic bushings. One is an old original with a mechanical speed controller. The other four have various different upgrades. But this has the most upgrades and it's a very smooth drive and a pleasure to run.
great tunning my friend, you made the truck very capable with all these parts 👍👍 the cc01 is still one of the best middle sized chassis. and the test run is another nice trail run in your beautiful forest. i always enjoy these runs 😃
Hi Steve. Thank you very much. The larger tyres rubbed on the body when the suspension flexed and also when the steering turned. Luckily I have some ultra rare 90mm Fastrax Kong tyres that I share between some of my other CC-01's, and I had the Axial beadlocks in my parts box waiting for a new ride ! The next thing to do in the future is to sort out a driver. Have a nice weekend my friend. 🙂👍👍
Hello Tibs. Thanks very much my friend. I actually bought it in February 2019, and filmed this video in October 2020. I just hadn't got round to uploading it 😄👍
Hi Daniel. I have some other CC-01's which have various upgrades, and I have one which is completely stock. It's been interesting to see what improvements all of these upgrades have made to the performance of the chassis. Have a good weekend my friend 🙂👍👍
What a great looking truck Derek, WOW!!! The new wheels & tires look very nice, sets off the body very well. Great video my friend, stay safe & stay healthy, ATB to you & yours!!!!
Hi Bob. Thank you very much. The larger tyres rubbed on the body when the suspension flexed and also when the steering turned. Luckily I have some 90mm tyres that I share between some of my other CC-01's, and I had the Axial beadlocks in my parts box waiting for a new ride ! Have a nice weekend my friend.
Hiya Derek. Blimey that's been upgraded to the max. Obviously you had to put a slower motor in so you could keep up with it 😂 Looks lovely mate. A nice addition to your fleet 😀
I can't help wondering why the previous owner lavished so much care and attention on this lovely chassis, then suddenly sold it. Still, it's found a caring home with you! Lovely run, gorgeous trees.
Hi Del. I did wonder that too. I assumed it was the previous owner that spent a lot of money upgrading it, because in the sales description it said "apart from three runs it was a shelf queen", and the photos of it look very good too. It was mint when it arrived and I was very lucky because I bought it for a very low price back in February 2019. Have a good weekend my friend. 🙂👍
@@hollyhillrc Well, it seems to me that the seller was more concerned about finding a good home for it than he was about clawing back the cash he'd sunk into it. Good bloke!
Another great bit of kit Derek. I have a lot of the same hop-ups on my Unimog. It is a bit weird why someone would add all those metal bits and then have it as a shelf queen, but hay life would be boring if we were all the same. All the best mate.
NICE Derek!! The shorter Tyres with the Axial Beadlocks look so good - I may have to borrow that idea! 😊 My CC-01 is nearly 9 years old.... Maybe it needs some love too. She looked smooth on the Trail. Have a great Weekend!! 😁🍻🍻
Hi Carmine. Thank you very much. I have seven CC-01's which range from this one which has the most upgrades, five others have various upgrades, and I have one which is completely stock. It's been interesting to see what difference all these upgrades have made to the performance of the CC-01. It is better, but personally I'd spend my money on a more capable RC rather than a similar amount of money on all of these upgrades for a CC-01 chassis. I hasten to add I bought this one for a very low price back in February 2019. You have a good weekend too. 🙂👍
Derek.... I went down the CC-01 rabbit hole a while back! 😖 It was before I got my first Axial, and I made an all-out, MISGUIDED effort to make my poor little Landfreeder with transplanted Holiday Buggy Interior Plate, the best Off-Roader that I could! Of COURSE it didn't work... But I learned several tricks in the process, and even came up with a few of my own! 😉 The riskiest being; Epoxying the standard Tamiya plastic Steering Bellcrank into a ONE PIECE assembly. 😳 With the Integy Aluminium Ball Raced lower Steering, RC4WD Rod Ends and Solid Servo Arm between the Servo and Bellcrank, with GPM Aluminium Suspension and Fast Eddy Bearings - that bit actually WORKED! I have one of the SLOPLESS CC-01s on the Planet!! 😊 But STILL barely any Suspension Travel, limited Steering Angle and a Chassis TOO LIGHT to utilise the overly stiff Springs!! 😵 (However, Tamiya Barrel Springs helped a little bit) ....... But let's not forget the ridiculously high geared Drivetrain!! I've stopped experimenting. It's a decent looking, actual 1/10th Scale (MOST Mainstream Crawlers are 1/8 - 1/9th Scale really!), TRAIL TRUCK. Nothing more. In that mindset, I'm getting interested in it again. 😊
@@CarminesRCTipsandTricks You should watch this guy. He's a genius at making his RC's perform realistically when they run. This video is his CC-01Pajero running and a "How to". ua-cam.com/video/KL62DO4oVl4/v-deo.html
@@hollyhillrc Awesome!! Thanks so much. He's quite impressive and I'll definitely be picking up new tricks! 👍👍 ..... Like getting a LOT of Lead Tyre Balancing Weights!!! 😁😏
Hi Mal. I bought this one for a very low price back in February 2019. Another eBay bargain. Apart from three runs it had been a shelf queen. It was in mint condition. Personally I wouldn't spent that amount of money upgrading a CC-01.
Great upgrades and conversion, a much chunkier piece of kit than Tamiya provide. Love those Axial wheels - looks spot on mate..👍🏻, and nice run through the woods too.

Well it's really a really good upgrade with these aluminum arms, great job and good look for this Tamiya. Super trail run in the forest 👍
