Oh Matteo..... These shocks, and many other CC-01 hop-up parts, are no longer available! 😕😣 I NEED soufter springs and shocks for my CC-01.... I feel I might have to drill holes in the stock 1-piece aluminium rod/piston... I don't want to do this, but the box standard shocks are pretty good, and do not leak! Thank you for all your videos!
You can easy modify the standard shocks. I've done this on many of my CC-01 shocks. I used a Dremel to enlarge the flat areas on the side of the Piston plates. Or you can use a grinding stone. It have the same effect and the standart shocks works very well.
Matteos good morning , while buy this set of shock absorbers I disappointed a little oil apparently slipped and now only work springs , what kind of oil to fill and recommend that it should be revised to separate the same does not happen
+ChicharoRadioControl I used the oil, included with the dampers. Maybe you can add a little washer between the two small rubber rings, to give a bit more pressure to the rings. But every oil damper leaking a bit of oil when in use.
+Matteo's RC Movies If that note also in the original plastic , a question in your opinion you have just come out , it's a good product ? I'll get a little squirt of oil and check that you recommend me to do. Greetings and thanks
It seems a lot of Tamiya hop ups have been discontinued (in the UK, anyway) and although ebay has a reasonable selection, they are at grossly inflated prices. Even Asiatees has only a few items left. Time to buy a lathe/CNC set up and make my own! :p
Thank you Matteo !!!! A long ago I had install the lowering kit and I want to leave the old dumpers as they are .I will now buy new ones about 7.5 mm :)
Yes, this is correct. Thank you Jeffrey! But in my opinion it makes no sense if you have to use the absolutely softest oil to have the dampers nearly good working. It should be ok with a medium oil to be able to make fine adjustments with the oil viscosity.
The original shocks have no pistons with plastic plates, they are full metal pistons with a flat area on each side. But you can enlarge this flat areas to make it softer, so you can get the same result with the tandart shocks.
Yes, first reason: I am Tamiya Fan! And second: the size of the dampers fits perfect on the chassis, without modifications. And the Tamiya quality is good.
Danke, habe übrigens noch Gummitüllen für meine Old Man Emu Dämpfer bestellt und werde dann die Dämpfer beim High-lift umdrehen, wie von dir empfohlen, wie bei den 1:1 Trucks.
I like a soft suspension to make a realistic movement of the car on the terrain. With a hard suspension the car hopping around like a bunny! With the enlarged holes it looks much more realistic.
Hi Matteo! Great vide as always. I've recently bought and built the CC01 (Landfreeder) and I love it. I've also installed the barrel spring just like you. Now I've ordered these alu-dampers, I see that you are very satisfied with them so I had to have them too. I noticed that you mount your rear damper holders on the position furthest back, unlike the manual says. Does it make damping more responsive perhaps?
Thanks Tomas. The mounting position is because the FJ-Cruiser have the largest wheelbase. The CC-01 chassis can be build in 3 different wheelbase. 242, 252 and 267 mm. So, the dampers have to be there for this model.
hey Terry , I just finish building this , any suggestions on the shocks ? the stock shocks too stiff and not enough travel . how is this Tamiya hop up working ?

That's interesting. I heard more than one guy said that the car will have a better footage if it has no oil dampers yet I don't get the reason. I may have a try next time for my cc01 Pajero.
@@danieldong5002 hi D D... ' my all R/C models are with shocks are no needding oilly in the shocks... easily clean with air compressor / wipe with a brush and less messy / less greasey
Wow those shocks are very nice looking!
Cool vid awesome to see how u modified the shock
Thank you!
I do not have access to the barrel spring but enlarging the flat area on the stock piston would have the same effect? I really wanted to be scale
Yes, the barrel springs have not so much influence, more the damper pistons.

I just installed this Kit on my CC-01 excellent shocks why better the factory.
really good looking dampers, but I have one question, are those still the original springs from the kit? thanks
Yes. Looks like he removed the spring from the original cylinder, and mounted them on the new one.

Just Me Thats too bad, but nice if you can build your own parts! Unfortunately I have not the skills to do this!

Matteo's RC Movies khhuij!
Tamiya dampers are crazy money now.
Hi mateo, is this tamiya alloy damper also fit mst cfx? Which is better compare to the gmade xd diaphragm?
I think these Tamiya dampers are too short for a CFX. Gmade dampers can choose in different lengths. CFX needs about 70mm
Hi Mateo can you tell me the length of the frond and rear dampers ...very nice Videos carrefully prepared !!!!
Thanks! The length is about 75mm, should be the same as the stock dampers. Front and rear is the same.
Thank you Matteo !!!! A long ago I had install the lowering kit and I want to leave the old dumpers as they are .I will now buy new ones about 7.5 mm :)
Thank you for great and impreesive video as always.
You enlarged 2 of 3 holes. So, Is it ok unbalnce movement of piston?
No, there is no negative influence.
+Matteo's RC Movies Thank you-!
Matteo...it does not make sense to widen the holes when there is softer (lower viscosity) oil available. You don’t mention this.
Yes, this is correct. Thank you Jeffrey! But in my opinion it makes no sense if you have to use the absolutely softest oil to have the dampers nearly good working. It should be ok with a medium oil to be able to make fine adjustments with the oil viscosity.
These will be next for my CC-01 i use the red oil for the front and the orange for the rear.
Good choice! 👍😊😊
Nice video again Matteo. Do you recommend to install ball bearing set on CC01 really worth it??, thanks
Thank you, yes, ball bearings are in all of my cars, the drive train is much more durable and much more smooth!
Do you find the aluminum shocks smoother? I'm thinking of doing the drilling mod to the original shock to avoid all the bouncing.
The original shocks have no pistons with plastic plates, they are full metal pistons with a flat area on each side. But you can enlarge this flat areas to make it softer, so you can get the same result with the tandart shocks.
Hi Matteo, what made you chose the Tamiya damper set for this upgrade over another brand (if any reason)?
Yes, first reason: I am Tamiya Fan! And second: the size of the dampers fits perfect on the chassis, without modifications. And the Tamiya quality is good.
These and the stroke extension set are out of stock on asiatees. are they on tower hobbies?
The alu dampers are available there, but not the stroke extension.
What is the length?
It's about 60mm
nice dampers and nice presentation as always :)
Thank you, glad you like it!
Sweet vid Matteo!
Why did you drill the holes and make the damper softer?
I like a soft suspension to make a realistic movement of the car on the terrain. With a hard suspension the car hopping around like a bunny! With the enlarged holes it looks much more realistic.

Cool, I will test this out on my one as well.

Aha. Well, I have the Landfreeder body which seems to have the shortest wheelbase, 242 mm.
Sehr gut gemachtes Tutorial.

Sorry !!!
What is the travel of this shock !!!
Thank you !!!

They look real nice Matteo. =]
Thanks Tybo!
Thank for sharing this, great video as always :-)
Thank you Martin! (sorry for my bad english in the video, my daughter always mocked me about that!)
Thanks nice tip. looks very good!
Thanks, glad you like it!
What tires and wheels are you using?
These are the stock tires and wheels from the kit.
Thanks allot, they look really nice!
Thank you Terry, I remember, you have a CC-01 one for these :-)
hey Terry , I just finish building this , any suggestions on the shocks ? the stock shocks too stiff and not enough travel . how is this Tamiya hop up working ?

I still run the stock shocks. lol. I bet these are super smooth though, anything would be better to be honest.
Wirklich schöne Dämpfer!
Würden meinen Toyo auch realistischer machen.
Danke, ja macht jedes Fahrzeug edler!
'
better suggestion...
dont need oil in the 4 shocks...
keep clean on chassic without oil
bestamerica Oil dampers without oil? I think it will be a bit "bouncing".
normal shock can do that.
no need oil shock.

Ok, if it works for you it's good. But I would prefer oil shocks.
