Two words John Malkovich ! Just realized you two look alike Eli. Thanks so much for all you put into your offerings on youtube. I have grown from them. Best regards Tim Miltz
Quite informative, thanks for sharing. What I actually do to find cameras on my network is simply go to the router interface and look at the list of attached devices. No LAN scanning software required.
OMG Eli , Thank you for........... EXISTING! whenever i get assigned to something i know nothing about , you come to rescue! your way of explaining is very suitable for beginners and understandable , again Thanks a lot for your Amazing efforts :)
I have abut 20 Axis cams in my environment, they are good but I have had several of the m206's go bad. They are EOL now so its not a bid deal for prospective buyers, unless you are buying used... I just installed a 32-cam NVR unit form Onix and am quite impressed, although it wasnt my first choice. I was pushing for a more flexible unit but the brass were being a pain in my ass and purchased the NVR unit behind my back.
23:30 I ran into the same problem. I’m using a Mac and when I went to download the Axis Camera Companion my choices were Windows, iOS or Android - so I guess that is better than just windows. I looked in the App Store and couldn’t find the axis camera companion. Hopefully I will be able to run the iOS app on macOS. I did run LanScan and it did not find my Axis camera - I suspect because the Axis camera is on a different subnet and I have it connected without a router.
Axis does make good equipment with good support. There are other brands to look at as well Sony, Mobotix, Bosch, Ganz, GeoVision, etc. They all have good warranties, support, build quality, training, etc. Although we haven't seen any updates since 2012, IMS research reported "network camera sales are forecast to account for approximately 60% of total worldwide surveillance camera sales by 2016". We think that will be sooner than later, get ready and get trained on IP. Subscribe to Eli's channel! Its nice to know what your opinion is. Thanks for the video! Thumbs up here!
Excellent video! I had a client ask me about video survellience a few days ago. I think I'm going to check out Axis. It has everything they said they wanted (particularly, the smartphone companion app). Thanks!
***** I had a client that ordered a set of cheap cameras as recommeded by a friend of theirs and were complaining about how crappy the picture was so I plugged in an axis camera and showed them the difference. Don't think they will listen to their friend again.

Eli, of all the web cameras I've... erm "accessed" axis seems to be the most likely to come up. They aren't that secure. Sure they're good quality and are used in lots of facilities but they aren't all that secure.
Hey Eli is there any chance you could expand on this series by talking more about smart/intelligent cameras? Maybe go into VCA's and analytic behind the cameras?
Hahaha I just read your "Cool Experiences" on your website and it's really impressive and funny! Thanks for all your training videos on this completely new world for me in Networking! Your lazy furry helper is so cute! If you have any suggestion on how you can promote the sells of all this products (cabling, video surveillance, telephone systems, VoIP, etc) it would be really appreciated :)
I bought a Q-See Easy View Wireless IP Camera with a Gift Card I got for Menards for Christmas. It's ok for keeping an eye on things at home when I am not there, but that's about all it''s good for, the audio quality is not the greatest. I do like the fact that it has night vision capabilities. If I decide to put any more cameras up around my home, would wireless be ok, or would running cable camera's be worth my trouble?
Eli, I don't know if you figured this out yet, but your dogs think you're talking to them (in case you're curious about their behavior). They don't know about this Internet thing. To them, it's just them and you in that room.
I have one question: let's say I've a couple of Axis cameras installed and want to give to a 3rd part company access to the video stream and recorded video ONLY. Can I do that? Can I handle all the configuration and admin stuff and give only those specific privileges to others? thanks a lot, hope you answer! regards
great video!! thanks!! I need a simple camera in living room just to monitor pet. I don't want bells and whistles. I just want to monitor my pet live on my IPHONE. Can you recommend a simple one camera setup. --thanks!
It seems like the developers that built the web interface aren't up with the latest (or even newish) web development tools if it only works correctly in IE. I don't have a problem with IE, I actually use it more than Chrome or Firefox, but there isn't any reason it couldn't work in all new browsers.
Can you please create a video explaining collision domains, broadcast domains...I'm confused on page 10 of the CCNA study guide by Todd Lammle ... a 3 hub network is 1 collision domain and the bridged is 2 collision domains? PLease make this make sense to me!
+Juan Brown Simple. Don't use hubs... A Broadcast domain is seperated by a Layer3 device such as a router or a different subnet. You can also have another broadcast domain in a VLAN. Hubs replicate all the traffic on each port except the one that sends the traffic from.

06:00 no ...*DO NOT* setup Axis to record to NAS, we tried it on a couple of sites and was a nightmare because you need to use their Axis Camera Companion which is not stable!! Use Axis cameras with Windows PC/Server and Milestone recording software if you want a stable recording environment. Do not use Axis software it is rubbish!!
HAHA, I just found this after I wrote you a message on the other video you posted about cloud surveillance. Does this work well with Camcloud? This is what I asked about this specific camera "I'm not a big fan of using proprietary systems like nest (Dropcam) and canary, so I'm looking for a system where I can just add any ip camera. I found these cameras called Axis and I'm interested in using camcloud with these cameras, since they are plug and play. They claim that the upload bandwidth is only 256kbs and if internet is lost, they can record locally to an SD card or NAS device. Have you tested this service? I would really like to see what you thought prior to investing my 10 locations on this service. They also have continuous recording through their dealer channel, but I'm not sure if I really need that. Their site is www.camcloud.com, please let me know what you think."

Could the video stream from one of these be accessed from a third party software, like a VLC streaming deamon for a robotics project?
Axis runs open platform SDK, you can apply to be a Axis ADP and get the SDK , write code to interface, it is very easy.
You could use RTSP on vlc. Does that help?
