    One nugget of information is the External temperature sensor MUST be in operation for the DPF to regenerate.
    I noticed the external temp reading was blank and there were DPF invoices.
    The external temp sensor is in the drivers wing mirror and will be a little nipple on the underside of the mirror.
    Chances are it’s either damaged or it’s been replaced with a aftermarket mirror that didn’t include the temp sensor.

      This can be very detrimental. Mine went faulty then read 51c on the dash. It was driving like a breakdown was imminent 😮

    1st thing to do when buying any French car is inform your doctor they will provide you with a list of symptoms you will encounter these are (1) confusion (2) sleeplessness (3) anxiety and irritability (4) Peugeot rash aka self harming (5) depression leading to erectile dysfunction

      Save your tears and frustration, buy a much better Van Ford Transit, Mercedes, VW, more expensive to buy but more reliable better equipped, better resale value

    At 5:58 what are you looking at to see that the oil is full? I can't see any oil level indicator on the dash?

    Good advice. Anyone ever remove the oil cap or dip stick to check for smoke as a result of blow by?

    not a bad introduction to buying one of these, but one of the main problems with these vehicles, despite nearly 20yrs of production, are the poorly designed, and leaking skuttle drains, which have been likely badly neglected by the previous to give flooding in the engine bay. with obviously dire consequences. Any signs of moisture move onto another inspection

    Other than the wing mirror sensor as below comment, They all crunch the gears, i had one with 7000 miles 5th crunched, same with one just stolen 19000 miles and every Citroen fiat etc The box will crunch a bit depending how you drive it,

    Are the older 2.2s better?

      Only if they are Euro 5 from 2012 onward. The ones before had issues with self desroying motors. The Motor generally is a Ford Puma motor (at least the 2.2) same as in Transit and I think it is okay, but not perfect. It has a chain, so its good because no maintenance at the same time it is bad, because you never check if the chain needs a change or not. Injectors can be an issue. I have a 2013 Boxer with 2.2 130 and it does not like to start. So I am looking now to get a newer one, even though I am not happy about the Additives and extra tank and issues that come from ad blue...

      Yes and must be in operation for the DPF to regenerate.
      Buying that van is buying a DPF failure in the near future.

      No doubt airbag light on/airbag module is a common fault

  • @pp2021
    @pp2021 3 місяці тому +2

    Most of the problems listed are through driver fault or bad maintenance. I have had a boxer for 6 years with no faults. Oil changes done every 6,000 miles,(10,000Km) gearbox oil yearly, don't drive with my hand on the gear stick all the time, seat properly adjusted for proper clutch travel. Warm the engine slowly after a cold start. One of the most common buses here in Germany, so we cant all be wrong. BTW, VWs are terrible, and seem to be designed to pack up at 100,000 Km

    these are absolute garbage - relay, boxer, movano, ducato. All Fiat underneath with stereotypical Fiat "reliability" ie zero. It'll cost you more than the van is worth to keep it on the road. Everything breaks on them and everything is at least a grand to fix once you factor in labour and VAT. Just avoid them and get a Sprinter.

    • @Altair885
      @Altair885 8 місяців тому +3

      Had Sprinters, they break just as often and cost even more to fix!! 😆
