Dave's great-I met him while we were playing at the Terminal in Dallas, we were doing our soundcheck. This was around 93 or 94. He came up and talked to me when we finished, I had no idea who he was, he was with a guy that was about 6'5, and a blonde haired lady. They looked like locals, had a shit eating grin on their faces while we were playing. Really nice folks, Dave introduced himself, but never said anything about being a drummer, I finally realized who he was when I saw them on the MTV unplugged show, and nearly fell over. I doubt he remembers that, it may have been the night they played at the Trees, which was across the street. I had a New Orleans Saints shirt on, I remember him asking me if I was from there, told him I was from South Mississippi, right around the corner. Fun times. Hope he winds up in Rush.
Cool story. I met Kurt in Chicago right after they played a show. There was a donut shop a few buildings from the gig and Kurt was just standing there. Nobody recognized him and I walked up and we just started talking about different stuff. He enjoyed it because I didn't act star struck or as a fan. Just two people talking. Before we parted he handed me a pair of sunglasses he had in his shirt pocket. The funny part was it was late at night and yes I still have them to this day. Peace.
He did a few "reunion" gigs with Pat and Krist not too many years back where they played Scentless Apprentice, but yeah, probably not a drum riff he runs through on the regular.
