You can stick this bike in any niche you want, but there are many alternatives, even from Europe, for this Suzuki. They came even with 2-stroke engines.

Baby adventure might be your creation and, back to the original subject, there are (!) many alternatives out there competing directly with the Suzi. And you get aftermarket for these motorcycles too.😁
I have several motorcycles, some I sold, others I bought, but the 24-year-old DRZ still runs trouble-free. Original crank and second piston. It has already traveled over 40,000. I think this motorcycle will stay with me forever. Armored equipment !
WOW! This is awesome! The internet has been speculating about a new DRZ after US Patent documents were discovered back in September. I told me dealer I wanted to get on the waiting list. They said "we haven't heard anything about a new DRZ - Suzuki hasn't change it in forever, and likely won't". I said "I still want on the waiting list if a new one comes!" I'm going to stop in there today and talk to them more about it.
@@OFFroadOFFcourse because they changed the ratio to be what you would have expected 6th to be. If you have ridden a drz you know that 4th and 5th are the same they simply changed 5th to be the low rpm high speed gear that you wanted. Test ride one and you will see what I'm talking about.
@@CaptLawrence yeah i get it, but thats a half ass solution... theres a reason why everyone else (including suzuki with the old dr350 and drz250) use 6 gears instead of a long ass 5th :p i find it a bit disapointing, but not really deal breaker for me (i dont really need to use the highway ever when i go out offroading)

Is there ever a real life reason to use 6th if 5th was geared properly? especially since the mpg of this bike is already fantastic. Saves weight for me to have a long 5th but, I see your point.

You have an almost 400lb bike that barely squeaks out 35 hp, is carburated and looks hideous with 30 year old technology still selling today for $7k... there are so many superior bikes out therem

Awesome to see. I had a drz400sm for about 8 years and love it so much. It was one of the most fun motorcycles I've ever owned. Now I only own a klr 650 but with no longer doing long distance travel I could see a 4s being a great substitute.
I saw this. I wont be buying them but i am glad to see it. I currently own a 21 klx 300 sm and a 22 klx 300 ds. I will not be upgrading for a while. In the past i did own drz 400 sm with dual sport tires. It was a lot of fun but it made me realize, i should personalize 1 for street and one for trail separately. I don’t know anyone else that has bought both at the same time. Running, errands, commute, joy ride, bike night ect? Take the SM. Trail or gravel ride? Take the DS w knobby tires. DR-Z4 is thou$and$ MORE than a KLX, 30 pounds heavier, and no 6th gear. Glad to see it, but I will wait.

Anyone notice the suspension not bottom out on everything like the crf300l, that’s a huge win. 2 pc frame that’s a win, fully adjustable kyb suspension that’s a win. Seat height looks taller that’s a win, black wheels that’s a win, nice new dash, that’s a win, 400cc that’s a win, if the gear ratio is wide range this will be the bike everyone has been asking for . Also if the price is only just up from the klx and crf 300 bikes aswell. Not looking for crf450l prices

i really think Suzuki missed an opportunity here. yeah its fuel injected, with ABS, but besides the same ol 5 speed, the bike is heavier with the same or actual less horse power, and really does a 400 need traction control and ride modes? think I'll hold on to my 2022.

This is a band aid.....to try and keep market share from loyal customers. Really need a Rally version with bigger tank, 6 cogs and a 425 or 450 motor. Price point was the focus... Japanese are followers....and focus on reliability and loyalty.
Nice bike, bat, after 24 years from the first model we get more weight and less power, the graphics and color are a disaster, the sixth gear is missing, I hope the rear spring is stronger than on the old model.

you're better off with a DR650. this bike is basically the same with fuel injection. it still has 5 speed gear box for crying out loud.

Awesome to see. I had a drz400sm for about 8 years and love it so much. It was one of the most fun motorcycles I've ever owned. Now I only own a klr 650 but with no longer doing long distance travel I could see a 4s being a great substitute.

Did they fix the too narrow gear spacing in the transmission? 5 speeds is fine if there is actually adequate spread between them.
