Great video , great comparison !! This is exactly what I was looking for . I'm going with the active jacket .don't need all the bells and whistles on the Bartlett. Also I'm not 100 % sure but I think the quilted flannel is their warmest lining under the arctic lining. The only thing I'm worried about is the ribbed knit waist band riding up during movement.
I checked, a few times. They have a confusing system for warmth but the Sherpa is warmer than the flannel lined....... I think lol
Neither of the jackets rid up either
I've had the "Carhartt J141 - Sierra Sandstone Jacket - Sherpa Lined" for about 2 weeks now. American import to the UK. £135. It's a beast. Has the heavy duty quality that Wooly said for the Active jacket. It's got the active look for sure but the cotton duck is continuous to the base of the jacket so there isn't an elastic hem (it does have the elastic hem on the wrists though), but the rear arm pleats like the Bartlett and the hood looks more like Bartlett to me. If you can still find one, grab one. I love it. Going to rock it all winter and see how it holds up in good rain. So far, walking gale force wind at Curbar Edge in the Peak District I don't feel the wind on body or around my ears because the hood is so heavy, like the rest of it. Sick jacket!
I'm 5ft 6", 38" chest. I got the medium which is like an over-sized hoodie. But the small was way too tight for me personally, and I wanted it to be chunky.
I'm gonna get the lead in Hollywood's next action flick now!
Thanks for all your videos. Please keep them coming. Recently got into splitting wood. Definitely getting a bartlett and one of those orange husqvarna splitting axes.
Cheers buddy
Hi . I am finding your videos very informing and well presented , after watching this I just got myself a bartlett 2nd hand for £32 ,well happy with myself . I am also going on a Carhartt spree like you did . Got a J131 brand new £65 . Already got a detroit (bought new £140) . All the best .
Nice one
The Bartlett looks like it has pockets on the front that will accommodate today’s cell phones. I also like the double snaps in the front pockets also. I have shirts with double buttons like that, I always keep one of the buttons buttoned up. If I have my phone in my pocket I can bend over and it won’t fall out but it can easily pulled out of the pocket if needed.
I’m a Detroit Jacket kind of guy but the Bartlett my be more practical in today’s world.
Both pockets will take a big smart phone , I'm the same, I keep one buttoned up , works well
Great video, just purchased an active jacket.. absolutely superb jacket lovely fit and a great warmth and weight to it. I'm also from the UK and purchased a Carhartt artic jacket from New Jersey 20 odd years ago. Still as good now as it was then. Basically great outdoor wear. 👍🏻👍🏻
It's hard to beat good quality gear

Noooooo!! Don't tempt me !! LolI just bought another Carhartt last week , the anchorage I think ? I will be killed if I get another one ( that would be 6 !) Lol , but imm off for a Google now anyway
Looks like the illegitimate love child of a Bartlett jacket and the active jacket ! Lol very similar materials to the Bartlett, looks great
Purchased the Bartlett, it came in the mail today. This video was a significant help in deciding. It's just a damned good looking piece. I forgot what you said about the zipper, and realized the same thing. I have Carhartt's mid-weight and paxton hoodies, and both have bigger and better zippers than the Bartlett. Not just the size - the Bartlett one feels like it's made of cheaper allow, while the Paxton's feels like solid brass. Can't imagine why a $50 hoodie has such a superior zipper to a heavy and pricier jacket. Everything else about the Bartlett, I love. Probably will pick up the Active too at some point.
It's a great jacket and I'm glad I helped your decision, in fairness the zipper has never been an issue, works 100%
super jacket man! definitely has the looks over the active. got a dark brown colour arriving in a few days ☮
Excellent stuff, a better looking jacket for sure. Hope it wears in as good as the active
Great video. Bartlett not as heavy duty anymore, but still good. Would like to have the front pockets from the active on the bartlett.
thanks man, i like the pockets on the bartlett better as they are fleece lined
Good thing I got both , bought one on me own and my homie bought my other one for my bday two years later . Which was 2 weeks ago
Nice, and happy birthday
I got the active.Dark Brown. Usually get 1 size down. They are loose fitting. I am a large and found it was too loose..I could fit oprah in it.
Lol, 8ve heard that they are big but mine seems ok
jacket looks awesome just bought the black version for myself
Nice, great choice
The temperature range is on the label when you purchase it.
Not on mine I don't think?
really interesting content ... I bought a Bartlett recently medium size and fits me well, slightly large to be able to wear a sweatshirt. After this video I would also like to buy the active... since it has a looser fit, do you recommend size S? I am 173 cm tall and weigh about 79/80 kilograms, muscular...thanks
Small probably would fit
Nice review. Its a shame that this jacket didnt close high enough under my chin and i dont want to wear a wool collar the whole time. Someone can recomment the Quick Duck Full Swing Cryder?
I agree with that, it would be nice to have a collar, I never heard of that one, I have a chore on the way though
Would really like to see an athletic fit in these.medium fits perfect in these everywhere besides armpit area w.large is overlly big.
I find it fits me well enough
Do you know what the differences are between the j130 and j140 active ?
I don't actually
Well the j140 has more to offer then the j130 that’s really all it is
Active is warmer. I’ve worn both arctic without hood and the active on the flight line through many winters. Bartlet is for hipsters. Active J140 is for working in the cold.
Cheers man
How is this colour in terms of staining and getting dirty when you work?
It seems ok so far
@@WoolysWorld Good to know. Thanks!
No problem, glad I could help
They look good but thought they would be more rain resistant especially the Bartlett 🧐
Not very, you can spray them with fabsil to make them rain resistant
What size and which fit is Bartlett jacket Brother?
All my Carhartt's are size small
Just ordered a Bartlett 10 minutes ago. This will be my first Carhartt item. I also plan to wax it.
Nice
Nice video brother! By the way, what size are they?
These are both small
That's a brilliant video and review! What size Bartlett jacket is it? Thanks a lot
Cheers Ken, this one is size small
thanks so much for the reply, I'm usually a medium but have heard they suggest to go a size down
@@WoolysWorld
@KenFolan-st2zc I'm usually a small , I've a 39 inch chest, 32 inch waist , hope that helps, great jacket, too good fof work wear
@@WoolysWorld thanks so much
@KenFolan-st2zc np
For work suitability: the active jacket win
No storm flap was never an issue
You can still layer underneath it
Growing up and working outside decades in the 2nd snowiest and one of the coldest states in the far north can attest i do lnow cold- and hard labor- for what it's worth
Cheers buddy
I got a Navy Active one on the way
Excellent choice
Will the bartlett eventually get a bit loose after wearing it a few times?
Mine seems to be loosening out a bit, if you keep an eye on the channel I have a video coming out in the next few days of Me splitting wood with it on
@@WoolysWorld cheers pal.. I'll keep an eye on it 👍
Cool, I'll be comparing the Bartlett and the active to see how they move when you work in them
Nice jackets....they are big!
They sure are
They sure are
Ok Mang! I am getting the Bartlett🤔😀
Great choice
Where r u in Ireland? I got ancestors all over the West and Cork areas.
I'm in the north, Co Armagh
Would like to see some clips of you working in the active jacket lol I'm a weirdo I know
Have a look at my cabin build series, should be plenty of work shots/clips
Not weird at all bro! I’m right with u.. Seeing how they perform is important.
I was sitting some wood in one of my active jacket yesterday, video out soon
@@WoolysWorld bro u should give the j141 a look.. Personally that’s my favorite jacket to work in. U can find them on eBay easily.. two other jackets I would love to see is the traditional coat(full swing) and the chore coat. Thank you for your videos bro!
No problem man, I'll have a look
The active jacket series are definitely the most durable.
Great jackets , I'm living the Bartlett now that the colder weather has come in
That's it. Ya helped me, brother! Bartlett, it is.
Now, f*** tha jackets...where'd thos pants come from?! I like'em! lol
They are the very excellent varusteleka sarma outdoor trousers, really nice
What size are they??
All small
Bartlett it is so! Happy wife is a happy life! Always go with what the mot says, always! 😂
Man it's z nice jacket
I’ve owned an active before and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED it. I wore the hell out of that jacket.
Recently I’ve been on the market for a new work jacket. I ended up going with the bartlett instead of the active. I needed something a little warmer, and I also think the Bartlett looks a bit better. The active is a bit comfier, and a little more streamlined, but the Bartlett is a bit warmer and looks better, in my opinion.
They’re not great jackets, regardless.
Both great jackets
Bartlett hands down. From California.
Great coat, greetings from Ireland
Am i allowed to buy both? 😆
Lol, of course
#carharttseason
Ah man! Yes! Been waiting for it, finally got wearing the Bartlett to work yesterday
nice review, liked comparison, exact what I was looking. but why do you call everybody "gays" ? its very disrespectful.. good luck
I call everyone guys, I work with large groups of people all the time , it's easier to say "guys" to a group that start trying to learn names as I usually only have 3 hrs
@@WoolysWorld I was referring that for my ears you call not guys but gays" faggots" 😆
I can't HEAR you.
Cheers buddy
