Affinity needs to give us a very simple way to open our previous Adobe photo, indesign and Adobe Illistrator files etc. I need this pretty sure I’m not the only person needing to be able to use our Adobe files in at least these 3 areas of Adobe…

What happens when you open the files? many PSD's work fine for me but I do have issues - same with some AI files.
@@bydesignmethod I find saving as an older version makes it more compatible with affinity. At least with illustrator.
@@bydesignmethod did they fix it, when, can I now just click on a adobe file and they will open? Last I had of the Adobe suite was 5.5 suite. Couldn’t/can’t afford pay for a subscription from any one…

Now I'm sure somebody is really excited about those new features... but where's my blend tool? At this point I've been waiting for over 8 years!
I hear ya, certainly isn't the most exciting update for features.. it's got a few cool things but i'm waiting on that canva money to bring in some bigger features!
Are you talking about the “blend if” from Photoshop ? I wish there was the same kind of feature in Affinity. Seems really useful for painting highlights.
@@Milky63 I believe so... we have 'blend ranges' next to the blend modes but I don't think it works as well.
@@bydesignmethod I think I have limited options on the iPad version, but either way I don’t think the blend features of affinity are as powerful as the « blend if » from Photoshop. From what I can see on tutorials anyway. I love Affinity but I really wish they would implement that feature. Can’t be that hard.
Whats that? You mean like painting a mask or what?
Would love to see a way to import PS styles as there’s so many good ones out there and the use of colour fonts that PS can use as well. Very happy with affinity regardless, you hardly use 50% of PS as it is and for the price, it’s incredible.

Beware! 2.5 has a bug that does not allow any of the Affinity programs to start in some Windows (10 and 11)computers. Continue using 2.4.2 until they work out the bug. Hopefully 2.5.1 will be out soon to take care of this bug.
Luckily (in this case) I'm on a Mac. Thanks for the update for windows!
I hope that now being under Canva's thumb, Affinity Photo is not going to become the poor relation. There are so many bugs and additions requiring attention, many of them first noted years ago. But virtually nothing for us in this update.
It's certainly nothing major, I've skipped doing a video on the past 3 updates. My fingers stay crossed hoping for the best!

Honestly not much! some new cameras added to New cameras have been added to LibRAW:

I can understand as a photographer with a photo program I would expect the features to be expanding always.
Are any of Canva and Affinity integration in this 2.5 Affinity?

In regards to the Canva topic nothing yet. Affinity was at the Canva Create conference and appeared on stage to introduce Affinity to the Canva crowd. Basically the tagline was 'Create with Affinity, Scale with Canva' - so basically still two separate platforms right now, no information on what's next.

I'm trying to save a shortcut to the desktop in windows for Publisher 2.5. It can be saved to the taskbar but I can't find the install folder to create the shortcut to the desktop. Any ideas?... Update.... Found it in C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WindowsApps. Search for a png, converted to an ico file then changed the icon in the shortcut settings. Must be an easier way...

I don't use windows but did a search on the topic myself and it does seem somewhat complicated for some reason, creating shortcuts should be pretty easy!

You can get an exe version instead of the app. Might help with this and be less complicated.

Useless updates
Definitely not 'show-stoppers' - this is why I only do video updates sometimes, I skipped the last three.
I haven't found a single font including EB Garamond that will allow me to make changes to the font. Horrible feature so far. Affinity is turning out to be a big joke.
Not one?! I found most of mine don't work, the idea of it is super cool..but truthfully not much use to me at the moment.... lots of people collect all kinds of fonts, I don't.
Affinity is a “big joke” because a singular feature that will be utilized by 1% of its user base isn’t polished? What a ridiculous statement. I use the Affinity suite everyday in a busy startup and it’s been a huge asset.
What a waste of time, next time keep quiet. Thums down this time.
