Woodturning - The IMPOSSIBLE Hybrid Idea

  • In this woodturning video, I will experiment with multi-colour epoxy resin pour to create and hybrid resin and burl goblet with two captive rings. I used kiln dried elm burl and resin to create this woodturning project and the idea was to start from dark green epoxy pigments and as it builds up the colours get lighter with the top being clear resin. To achieve high gloss finish I used several coats of acrylic lacquer. Happy Watching 😊

    The combination of green resin and brown wood just looks natural, like a tree. 🌲🌳🌴

      I made like 10 goblets with rings but i still feel slightly nervous removing the ring. You cam see at 7:55 in the video between the rings I have some extra wood to work with. That is my buffer in case one of the ring brakes i can make another one out of the extra wood

    Why do you spray the lacquer in different segments? And beautiful work, of course.

    • @DavidsWoodturning
      @DavidsWoodturning  2 роки тому

      Thank you. Great question, if I would try to do in one go due to the rings and as they spin when applying the lacquer, they would leave a mark on the sprayed stem of the goblet. Hope that makes sense. With this separation method I can avoid that easily but take a lot more time and effort for sure.
