Man, I disagree. I think this game is one of the weakest handheld castlevania games. I'd take Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin any day over this one. Playing this game is a chore.
Order of Ecclesia had some of the best 2-D graphics out there, and it introduced some seriously cool-looking monsters later in the game, especially those located at Giant's Dwelling. I also liked Shanoa a lot - her sprite and combat animations are exceptionally well done. Possibly one of my favorite 2D-looking characters of all time. It also had the best underwater levels in the whole Castlevania series, in my humble opinion. The music was great, and it was fun exploring and looking for stuff down there. Of course, the game's not without flaws, and if I had to include every one of them, I'd probably end up typing a massive wall of text. Excellent skills, by the way! Thanks for the video. :)
This was one of the better Hard Modes I've played in a video game. They didn't just jack up the monster stats, they completely changed their placements from Normal and even gave new patterns to a few bosses. That should be the standard, imo.
Very impressive man! When I was younger I always wondered how this mode would be possible, but you absolutely killed it! The most impressive part is that you tend to not skip over a lot of enemies. Well done, and you have impeccable taste in games
Man, I remember as a kid back in 2008, I thought this would be impossible (hard mode Lv 1 I mean). Last year, I managed to beat it by equipping 2 Death Rings and maximum cheese bosses by getting them in normal mode and hard mode Lv 50, then starting a new game+ on hard Lv 1. Turns out having 2x Death Ring, Nitesco + Falcis glyph union, and Dominus Agony active can just straight up nuke bosses, especially if you have enough heart refills. The best part about Dominus Agony is that the HP drain doesn't count as getting hit by the boss, so you can still get the medals lol. The only one that was annoying to get the medal for (and I assume for most players) was Eligor due to his many "phases" and gotta climb on his back while getting under him to dodge attacks. You managed to beat hard mode Lv 1 on a new file, that is incredibly impressive. Well done.
My least favorite protagonist, how can you even like her? Most of the game she just stupidly follows Barlowe's orders without questioning, no memories, no emotions, just a robot.
Just watching this. This is truly impressive. Your run through training hall was ridiculous. A pleasure to watch the whole playthrough. Love the soundtrack to this game. Riddle is one of my all time favs. So many though. Ebony wings, collosus, empty tome. Such a great game. I wish castlevania would make a return to the igavania style. Bloodstained will have to do for now.
Brachyura: I can confirm that in no mythology or old stories did I ever hear about giant crabs from depths. Yes, I am from Transilvania, no, I am not a Vampire and in my 5000 years of living I didn't meet any Vampires.
@@Megaman-2407 you can use a ring that boosts damage by causing you to lose HP as penalty.. Interestingly the game doesnt count that as damage taken so you can get the no damage rings from bosses that way
Been a while. Was thinking about this game and found this video again. I was able to beat Hard Lv1 as Shanoa 100% with no use items. That was a nightmare. Didn't even bother with trying to do it with Albus. These Hard Lv1 modes are just plain evil.
This game kicked my ass more than any other Castlevania, great run! Edit: Now that I think about it, Circle of the Moon kicked my ass even more than this one, but still!
CotM was hell (but can easily be trivialized by spamming those OP cards such as Thunderbird, you dont even need to collect the cards from enemy drops in order to use them)
Loved watching this. Easily the hardest Castlevania game. I also abused that rewind (Playing on Dominus Collection) and now feel I have to go back and play NG+ without the rewind.

With the Castlevania Dominus collection now we dont need to ask you how you got that map+bestiary set up. It comes set up with that and running smoothly on steam and switch.
is everything that is seen followed? I ask because of the black screens after the games are saved. I mean, do you no hit everything in a row or if you get hit do you try again to do the no hit section from the last segment where you saved?
Awesome. I remember having a hard time getting the medals, it's way easier in Hard Lvl.1 as you pretty much die in one or two hits. What did you capture this with? I didn't see the regular emulator glitches or sound issues
I was wondering the same about the capture. Also, the top screen layout (here on the right side) is different to the original one. It's sorta split mixing the two views (map or enemy info).
It's been a while since I played so I'm not 100% on which button to hit but it's an in-game feature by pressing select. It replaces the map screen by an enemy bestiary.
