  • Chef Colin Roche shows you how to make "Wicked Easy" Baked Maple Brown Sugar Candied Bacon in this video. This recipe is very easy to make while at the same time being delicious and full of flavor. The candied bacon recipe is also very versatile and can be modified as needed by adding in your own choice of flavorings and spices. Chef Roche also demonstrates two other easy recipes, one savory and one sweet, using the candied bacon! Recipes can be found below.

    RECIPES
    “Wicked Easy” Baked Maple Brown Sugar Candied Bacon
    Yield - 10 slices
    Ingredients
    • 10 slices thick-cut bacon
    • ¼ cup maple syrup
    • ¼ cup brown sugar
    • Pan spray, as needed
    • OPTIONAL: cayenne pepper, black pepper, smoked paprika, chili powder, cinnamon, cocoa powder, etc.
    Directions
    1. Preheat oven to 400*F.
    2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
    3. Spray the rack with non-stick cooking spray.
    4. Lay the bacon side-by-side across the rack.
    5. Brush the top side of each bacon strip with maple syrup and top with brown sugar.
    6. Turn the bacon strips and then brush this side with the maple syrup and top with brown sugar.
    7. Optional step is to now sprinkle each slice with any spice of your choice.
    8. Place the bacon on the top rack of the oven and cook for 15 minutes.
    9. Turn the bacon strips and then continue cooking until browned and starting to blacken a bit around the edges, about another 15 minutes or so depending on your oven.
    10. Remove from rack to cool and then enjoy as desired.

    Thanks for some ideas. Just moved and found a 7Lb package of sliced bacon on the bottom of my old chest freezer and amazingly it's still good! going to play around with some twists of my own to your recipes. Like using molasses, roasted steel cut oats& powdered apple seasoning with some natural powdered smoke seasoning etc., etc....
