Wait a minute, don't you have to take out charge gas before unwelding?
Ofcourse you will need to recover the refrigerant. The compressor itself only has oil in it
Can you use a normal torch?
Yes something that heats the cooper enough you should be fine

What is the brand and type for the flux coated brazing rod you're using?
Someone put a temporary tap on the service line, that is not ideal but if you need to recover refrigerant i guess thats a way to do it. Don't put too much heat into those joints.
If have a temporary tap valve. It is best to put a service valve complete. Temporary valve can leak freon thruout time

What about the gas when using a welder?? The repairman told me it was dangerous, which is why Excel Energy Home Service Plus won't fix them..😢
When people say that they either dont want to work on them or they dont know . Sometimes we go behind other companies and they even tell customers we dont work on them becasue ect...
Wonderful video but you never explained what type of torch you use ( is it a goss torch )and what gas it runs off of argon acetylene or propane?
I use oxygen with acetylene

That is not aluminum I think is steel pipe

All from 2016 and up always when replacing compressor need to update it . Will make a short on how and what setting to put to update the control board
What brand of the oxy acetylene torch do you use, what is the tip size and oxygen and acetylene psi do you set for brazing?
Oxygen 20 psi acetylene 15 psi. tip size, I'm not sure. Here is the part number 23-5005A
Hi Mel. Could you please share all the equipment needed for this job. I just got my EPA 1, certificate. I am just staring to set up, but not sure if I need to go high dollar on the equipment or I can just get something mid range for now.

You dont put oil on the compressor it already comes prep you just need to solder the line and add freon to system the right amount that is on the model and serial number sticker

Need to use silver solder with flux to solder the aluminum with cooper line

Evacuate the system (vaccum down), and then you add how many ounces it needs.
The third one is the Monitor Switch
everything looked great until you were brazing without a trace of nitrogen.Also pressurize 1 line with nitro and cover other fitting with finger.Let it build a little pressure then let off a couple of times if there was any flux left inside it would come out. Just my 2cents.

Check voltage to compressor. Is the fan to the condenser coming on? Is the compresssor hot? Small details count

So you can check pressures. One is the low side the other for the filter is the high side to see exactly whats going on with the unit

No for cooper to cooper is cooper solder. To cooper to aluminum is a silver solder with flux
Hey Mel! So we replaced the door handle then the microwave started doing this… not turning off when door is shut. You think the door hook got screwed up during replacement? So replace the door hook and door switch ?thanks🙂have an awesome day 👍
Check the door hook if there is tension on it. If that check good it can be a possibility your door switches are weak

@@neil37068 if you replace door and same issue and if you replace door switches same issue. It's going to be computer board . If you want to verify 100% tap on the relays sometimes if lucky you can unstuck it with a screw driver softly

Second part is there in my channel. And yes replace condenser any contamination stays stuck there. Through out time it will play a factor on the cooling system
A very helpful tip to extend the life of the compressor is to add 50ml of sulphuric acid to the compressor before regassing. This helps keep the system clean.

@@magaan4717 cool your jets buddy. I work in the HVAC industry and mainly work with refrigeration. Having acid in refrigeration systems is very bad for the system, so someone talking about a "helpful tip" by adding the one substance to a system that kills systems faster than age is gonna set off some alarm bells. Hence why I was wondering if he was serious or not because I've never heard of such a thing.
It looks from the weld on compressor outer center, is not that good made compressor. Do u think its refurbished? Thnx🌷

DE96-00414A whole door switch . For samsung . Keep in mind its recommended to replace all 3 . If you want individual you can search it with your model number and get the one you exactly need .

It was 56% silver with flux

I also have an LG refrigerator and I know that I have to change the compressor but the challenge I am having is that I can't find a rating on the compressor to know which one exactly I am to buy.I will really appreciate you help in this area,how can I know the correct compressor that I have to buy .Furthermore,is it compulsory to buy a linear compressor if the one that came with the refrigerator gets bad and needs to be changed.
Any appliance website search the model and serial number and it gives you the part. If you trying to use a different kind well. Not sure once in my life I have seen a LG refrigerator running with a embraco compressor. Till this day still running

I have this exact fridge and I believe I have a leak. Wont get cold enough or make ice. Im a DIY guy but never really worked on Appliances nor cooling systems. Is this worth investing on tools to fix myself? What would a tech typically charge to fix this?
If you know how the tools work go ahead example acetylene and oxygen tanks go for it. In cali they charge 129$ just to look at it .if leak like you saying a easy 500$ job the most

Get a vacuum gauge
And braze with nitro. Keeps that cap tube from clogging and always back blow it to e cap tube because that’s 80% of the time is the cause of the compressor failing is cap tube clogging
Whar did you do with the electrical on this compressor? Did you purchase the Jig for the upgrade or install a relay to get a standard compressor to operate? Thank you
I actually have a jig you just update the control board and thats it . No need to replace anything else just update and ready to go
I checked into getting a Jig and the price is quite expensive in Canada. Is there another way around doing the software upgrade? You would think LG would give you the update with the new compressor. Thank you.
