I used to build power plants when I retired from the military for about 18 years before. We got locked out in our old for 2 years now. I have a simple maintenance job with mobile homes. Look forward to hearing your professional advice and thank you very much for your personal time on this matter.
Once you spread the lime down how long do you have to wait to turn heating system/AC back on? I just had this done and the lime was coming through my vent so I turned it off.
thanks for this, my cleanout backed up from tree roots, causing a sewage overflow, gonna go to the store and get a bag to spread around - cover it over to keep the neighborhood cats out of it
I do maintenance at a mobile home Is community in Gainesville Florida. I served twenty years in the military and twenty two years out of the military building power plants before the lockdowns for the covid pandemic. Now just a simple maintenance man in a mobile home community of about a hundred and thirty homes. Would like to get rid of a smell under mobile home with the same line as you used. So if 6 months to a year or 18 months down the road if we had to go back underneath that very same home do I have to wear? A disposable outfit again due to possible bear skin and a chemical on the skin? Always for that home afterwards we will have to Wear a mask disposable suit, correct? I am very familiar with all kinds of hazmat. Is chemicals liquids and powders. I do not have the experience with the line and will take the precautions to wear p p e. But as soon as we do at home at home. We'll always have that line down there that we would still like to wear that very same PPE is what I'm asking? A lot of times we have dead animals or sewage underdate. Not frequently but it does happen now and then. Correct me if I am wrong but if 1 year 2 years 5 years down the road it'll still have the line down there and create a problem for me. And the others correct?
We had a sewage leak under a house we are renting...apparently it was leaking for a while. Plumbers couldn't do the repairs until it was cleaned up. Had to hire remediation company - they had to dig out all the dirt in the entire crawlspace, and put lime. It was pretty bad, had to replace all the insulation as well. Next step is testing the space for mold....Very very expensive
Robbie Hart: I don't even know your last name. Glen Gulia: It's Guglia. [says it Gulia] Robbie Hart: Guglia? Oh, so Julia's last name's gonna be Guglia. Julia Guglia! That's funny! Glen Gulia: [unamused] Why is that funny? Robbie Hart: I - don't know.
Might be a dumb question or not but I did this to my crawl space how long before I am able to go back under my crawl space to make sure I have no more leaks??
Hey chuck! Can you use the lime in a crawlspace that the flooring is covered by a tarp? Or does the whole trap covering the flooring need to be replaced after a small waste line leak? Thanks!
Is this safe to crawl on again in the future or is it very toxic. Asking for reference. Because I'll have to go back under for a re pipe in the next month.
Hi ..Chuck ..Here from Houston , Tx ..i have ?? My rv sewer pipe broke n sewer is on ground our Rv .. I need help wt clean up n smell before is gets hot n creates a mess pls .. Help i just happen yesterday.. Trying to figure out how to clean n sanitizie outdoors lol
I had a kitchen drain line rot out and leak a ton of gross stuff. I'm in the process of fixing the kitchen drain pipe at the sweep to the main house line which is still buried - it's a real pain in the butt, trying to get below the split in the iron pipe. I'm hoping i have enough of a stub at the Y. if I pour hydrated lime around the area of the leak/spill will the lime cause any damage to my pipes?
@@ChuckBarron Nice, I'll see if I can track some down. I want the smell gone! Do you have any vids where you removed the lead joint from a pipe? I've never done it before, my father in law says its not hard but... shoot it's my first time, lol!
Hey Chuck, Just went today and got a big bag of lime, because for the last few weeks I've been smelling an awful smell in my bathroom that smells like poop, I think I got a leak under my mobile home, my bathroom is inside of the bedroom so the smell trys to come in the bedroom as well, so I really hope this lime does the job, also someone told me about this stuff called ZEP Odor Control concentrate, have you ever used that for an odor? Could I use that under my home as well?
As a homeowner, I never knew what you used for a crawl space. Very good tip. What would you use for a basement ?? I'm thinking soap and bleach. Another thing: I think the lime would work well for an emergency type bucket toilet, hunting cabin toilet, etc. Thanks. Remember: shit happens :)))))).
I'd use sawdust to suck up all remaining liquids, sweep that up, then use a degreaser (fast lightning, formula 409), clean that off with some good rinse cycles, and then a bleach solution.
I use the boost pellets for the laundry, at least while I'm working in the crawl throw them all out......smells lovely.... Lime is to me is separate job, I let them know what needs to be done, if they want to do it, it's fine with me..... if they want me to do it, that's additional...... On a side note....that crawl opening seemed a wee tight.....don't feed them boys too much pizza, go with the house salad....

appreciate the visit.
I appreciate guys like you that show us how to do this stuff, with all the information sharing I've become an jack of all trades 😉
Thank you
Do you clean up the waste before adding lime ? Or just spread it on top?
Great post, thanks for sharing.
You clearly have the skill down of throwing cup fulls in a nice even spread.
Thank you kindly..side arm....lol
I used that product a while ago, I don't think its available out here in Cali, I usually do kitty litter. Thanks for the shots Cb
nice....thanks a

I have muddy sludge by my manufacturer home in the grass can I use this? It's a small puddle but it's really sludgy and smells bad.

Does hydrated lime at home depot do the same thing? I am asking because the home depot around me does not have that product.
Not sure.

read manufactures recommendations for sure
I'm that works, but what if someone needs to go in there to do some more work. It if safe? And would it kill mold on the sand?

no mold expert but fresh air helps
Hey chuck!

i would lift tarp and apply and throw on top of spill on tarp too...if a mess just change tarp too.....sounds like a small spill.

I would suit up. tarp up if it were me.

Service is picking back up since the Holidays. The Holidays is a nice little break, but I'm ready to get back at it.
Is there a liquid version of this kind of lime?
Not sure but we use ST3 to clean up after spills too. A commercial cleaning agent we soak area with.
Hey, I've got a sewage back outside an rv setup. Would this be all I need to do or do I need to do more if I plan to build anything over there?
clean it up good...you can go further with it for sure if ya like.
What spray do I use or what do I use on the gravel
We use stuff called QT3 sanitizer
Cool where you go surfing at?
South Jersey is home base.
CB2 job all day. Starting to think CB likes crawl spaces 😂 “get in there CB!”
I love it....
You need to remove at least 3-4 inches top soil first. And completely different approach coming from a restoration standpoint.
Just found ya and subbed after the intro, love your vibe brother!
will it work on slab? Flies too?
sure, flies not sure.
"Put the LIME in the basket " Nice job again.....concrete guy is so nice! How about hanging a few air fresheners .....ha
Mr. Concrete guy lets clean the chute in crawl space entrance for fun
@@ChuckBarron outta sight outta mind...
Does calpril type work or do you recommend the white powder base.
Can I use lime indoors behind my kitchen cabinet and sheet rock had a overspill and made a mess under brand new cabinets
Not sure. I have been spraying ST3 as of late....works great.

After throwing the lime can you vacuum the mess with a shop vac?
No. Just let it settle in.
Chuck should i have crawl space clean before the plumber come out?
Na, we use to a war zone down there. Unless loaded with material thats blocking entrance. That will save you time. we all know time is money.
@@ChuckBarron thank you so much
Chuck do you have to go back after a week or so to clean all that lime up or do you just leave and biodegrades into the soil?
spread and go....it a wrap.
Any advice on house centipedes?
hire a pro.....
Will the lime KILL the sewage germs? Micro germs?
indeed
Good tip on sewage clean-ups!
That music was for you dawg!!! death metal and speed metal....that had a few tunes..
@@ChuckBarron I forgot to say thank you for that! Lol. Metal and plumbing go great together!
oh yes they do
great tip!
thanks rick
Wouldn't chlorine be a good method for both killing and eliminating? It's just a question not a statement..
That will be very toxic in heavy doses.
Can you use baking soda as well?
Not sure Pete.
Can S TYPE GARDEN LIME BE USED FOR THE SAME THING?

Surprising that you could fit under there.

I guess if it works for bodies it should work for sewer leaks 🤣
I had to plunge a drain from the curb on 19th and Cecil B More in North Philadelphia and shit shot up and splashed me in the fucking eyes/ face.
