at first I was like "holy crap, Jon's got a youtube account!" - I thought it was old pop Stanley. :D
I was there both nights. Thursday, I wore blue (I played at BYU in the 70's/80's) and Friday, I wore green (I love Hawaii and love the Bows style of play). So my team won both nights. Thursday, BYU dominated but Friday the Bows came back strong & was the best match of the year! But devastating for both teams to have their year (and for some of the players, their careers) end there. No National Championships. 😢

Seeing how the stands are full makes me so happy because in a lot of other volleyball games there are barely any people, it gives me hope lol

@@ErikShojivolleyball Aloha again Erik. I am from Hawaii, grew up in Makiki but moved to Waipahu, Waikele to be exact. I love Liz and I believe she was the first libero to received a full scholarship for the Wahine program. I love her too. I have a few favorites though, Kim Willougby, Robin, Angelica, Ali Longo, Vakasausau, Lily Kahumoku, Norene Iosea, Nohea Tano, Kanoe Kamana’o, etc..., there’s so many, I can’t even remember. but Mahalo for your respond. I’m a huge Wahine and Warriors fan. Love going to SSC for the games to watch the games. And I know you know the fans are always lit and electric. Mahalo once again.

Erik, you mention that BYU is a strong blocking team. And I would agree - I played at BYU and know how hard we worked at blocking. But the thing that really sets BYU apart is the focus on communication. When I played, if you were on the court next to a player that was playing the ball and didn't call it (in or out) then you sat the bench. You may call it wrong once in a while but you're wrong 100% of the time if you don't call it. I don't think that enough players & coaches focus on this simple concept.
wow thats so interesting! thanks for the comment. communication is obviously huge in volleyball. IMO, however, you can over-communicate. to be honest if im playing a ball in the middle of the court Idk if i want someone yelling in or out at me. just my thinking haha

thank you! i made one video about passing but there will be more in the future. i hope they help! im sorry vb in canceled, but keep touching the ball and using the stairs, wall, or anything else to get reps!

BYU went into the first match with UH and totally blew them off the court, notwithstanding Charlie Wade’s constant glaring and attempts to intimidate the refs and the BYU players. UH obviously played much better in the second match and won out of sheer will, but BYU deserved the #1 ranking coming out of that weekend. UH has the largest home crowds and a natural time-zone advantage over visiting teams, but BYU ignored all of it and nearly swept UH. Too bad COVID came along and screwed up what might have been a classic NC tournament.

Even though Hawai'i was number one I think BYU had the stronger lineup. BYU had the biggest chance to win it all this season if only the pandemic hadn't hit. Come next season I think Hawai'i, UCLA, and Long Beach will be very strong again.
Oh yeah, I hope Pat Gasman gets to play in the national team soon. He's too good not to.
Hawaii was #1 at this time? So cool i grew up going to games when UH dominated often. Then our title taken away.

For those who game, "the cake is a lie" is a reference to the video game, Portal. It means the anticipated reward is never going to be yours and you were lied to to play a game. Over the past two days, it has become even more obvious that there are conspiracies in our country and our church. Technology has made them possible because algorithms can see from our browsing what we look at and are most interested in. Recruitment happens, then different levels and groups within the scheme police each other and those below. It works because they're being lied to about what the eventual outcome is going to be. The only way to avoid them is to not lie. And even then, if one stumbles upon aspects of the controversy, gaslighting and blackmail threats are used to keep one silent. But the lower levels are being used. :( The only way out of the mess is truth, which is painful, but at least a person is free. As to covenants, any contract entered into then altered is subject to being voided for duress if the changed conditions are ones you only agreed to because of threats. The only way to win this game is refuse to play.

As a BYU fan, I was so disappointed they didn’t. 🤣🤣 We haven’t won a SET in the national championship since 2004....WTH?? As a fan of volleyball, though, I am happy to see teams like Hawaii and LBSU win after not having won it all even longer than BYU’s drought. 🥲 At this point, I just wanna see BYU win a set in the NC. 🤣🤣
