Yeah 100%. FIlip Humler has stepped up to the plate. He served well, hit well and passed well. He needs to get a bit better at left side hitting but he is, similar to SVT, transitioning from being an opposite give him time and he'll fill the role perfectly. And if Chaz galloway learns to pass properly he's going to be a problem. Sheward is a good setter but under the service pressure he crumbled. Creds to BYU they came with pure power and heat. the serve and block dismantled hawaii. Cowell is normally really good at tooling and using the block but gabi told him that today was not his day. Gabi proved that he is actually better than Rado. I feel rado is too pressure vulnerable. He fumbled the set (literally) during the long beach match in the pyramid and did it today in the SSC.
Thanks for the upload.. Great game for byu. Everything went well for them and it wasnt even close. Coach wade messed up imo for not trying thelle and galloway for a struggling cowell. Byu just had too much spark from the start

Thelle isn't as good as sheward. Sheward proved his worth on the road. Wade wouldn't have replaced him if he hadn't felt the need to. And watching all the matches i saw a visual difference in the fluidity of the offence with thelle vs with sheward. Galloway should have replaced cowell halfway through the match. they said at the beginning cowell was suffering from the flu and it showed. He's one of the best passers in the country and made many errors.
I remember staying up to like 2 in the morning just to watch this game despite the fact having class at 8 in the morning. Byu is my favorite team and I knew this game was gonna be a challenge for them and they fought and pushed through and won

Charlie Wade could’ve used Jakob Thelle in all honesty I feel like he has a better connection with the hitters than Sheward. Jakob also puts up a bigger block but BYU was just firing on all cylinders man.
disagree. Thelle puts a bigger block but Worsely was the prime example of how that doesn't matter. Thelle sets waayyyy too high. Especially for rado and the pins. He runs a good middle but that's it. he needs to be more consistent on his front and back sets. there's a reason sheward replaced him. Thelle serves and blocks better though you're right.

Worsely is also a shorter blocker but in the 2019 season, Worsely and the team had years of experience on what to do when Joe is in the front row. Sheward is just new. For next season, they should just keep using Thelle and train him to be a faster setter.

Hawaii had that "deer in the headlights' look last night. Hopefully, the Bows can rebound from this loss and play better tonight. Right now, BYU looks like the best team in the country...prove me wrong!
Gasman is the only one consistent here. Reception is really bad so they can't always use him. Sheward keeps going to Rado and gets blocked. They could've replaced Rado to calm him down so he would minimize his errors. Colton keeps challenging the blocks but the blockers are just too strong.
I’ve been calling this since day one. BYU has more than proven themselves to be the number one team in the nation. I hope coach wade sees the importance of having a tough preseason schedule after tonight. You can’t prepare to play a team like BYU by playing a very subpar Japanese team. Also, Hawaii takes another fat L for their cringeworthy player introductions 🥴
Wow. Hawai'i is super meh. Rado isn't hitting smart. Filip is tall, but neither he nor Colton is Stijn. No one is close to Sitjn! Lol. Colton has had better days, but I don't he's yet shown himself to be a go-to scorer. He's like Eschenberg on BYU -- he's a very reliable support player. Defense was too patchy. With almost all the top teams rebuilding, the NCAA national championship is BYU's to take. The only way they won't get it is if they melt down. Perhaps Lewis has a chance, but they'll need to be more consistent.
Hard to say it but Rado shouldn’t be starting against the best teams. He has shown his numbers come from talent and less ability. He consistently struggled against the best teams. Humler was excellent tho. Setter needs to start setting with pace, or Hawaii have not chance against strong blocking teams like BYU

He’s not injured. The team was having timing issues with Jakob. Jakob is a very slow pace but high setter. Brett is a faster and lower setter. The team ran much more smoothly with Brett than Jakob.

Tonight should be much more competitive (and I say that as a BYU fan) Also, they should work jakob in more because brett is pretty small and sacrifices some presence on the block. Yall have played great with the block in weeks past to compensate for brett's lack of presence, but I think that is one area where BYU does have the leg up as well.
