Poo - ree a deep fried bread. When Indian recipes call for wheat flour, they mean Atta, the flour most used for making breads in India. It is differentiated from Maida, which is the white flour most used in American homes. Atta is stone ground whole wheat kernels ground to a fine consistency. It should not be substituted with white bread flour. Maida/white flour is the white innards of the wheat kernels squeezed out using two steel rollers and then separated from the skin and ground fine. It makes for whiter bread, but much less nutritious and contains far less fiber. It also handles differently when wet. ua-cam.com/video/6TQodYm9xkg/v-deo.html

South indians make it with potatoes and onions, North Indian version is called Chole Batura (batura is the Poori version and chole is a curry they make with chickpeas instead of potatoes

Hello. Puri is pronounced Poo-ree. It’s the fried bread. The potato dip is called Bhaji (Bhaa-jee). The fried fritters you were referring to are called Bhajji (Buh-jee) or pakoda (puh-ko-da). Puri Bhaji is usually eaten for breakfast.
You know, the smell, the look of the dish and the texture you feel on your FINGERS are ALL IMPORTANT. Dont use forks to eat bhajji. Break off a piece of the puri, just the right size, use youf fingers to wrap the piece around somee bhajji roll into a tight wrap and then chew both together to get the authentic taste. Curry and rice should be mixed well with the tips of your fingers.Let the rice grains soak some of the curry and chicken flavours and then eat it...it is a knack that we Indians learn very early and technique which is not familiar to Westerners! Happy experimenting!:)
In the west, what you call gravy is called sauce. And what you call sauce is called ketchup. Gravy over there is a particular sauce eaten with mashed potatoes on thanksgiving.
@@globalcitizenn technically a sauce don't include meat. It's all veg. But a gravy is the liquid of any meat dish. Yes somewhere you are correct but not actually. And talking about ketchup, yes it's a sauce.
Sir, please google the food u r eating; its easy than knowing abt it in comments, also u will know what are u eating, if its bread or roti, or if its veg or non-veg.
First and foremost : start eating with u hands : when your fingers connect to your food , its sends a sensory signal to your mind and tongue , do try it
