Cycling from Vancouver through Washington| Adventure Bike Touring

It's the first week of my bike tour! I'm off cycling through various places for a year, but the very first part is from Vancouver through Washington State.
We started off with very heavy bikes from Vancouver, and made our way down through Vancouver Island to get the ferry across to Port Angeles.
Once there, we wended our way through the Olympic State Park, through rainforests and woods. Thoughts on Washington so far:
Lots of trees and bogs
High points - not that much traffic, and some nice paved cycle tracks
Low points - the rain

What month did you start your tour? Was there alot of rain?

We started at the end of September - I think beginning of September would be better as we were chasing the good weather down to California! Washington and Oregon were quite wet at times, but as soon as we got to California the sun came out!
