Don't forget Parksville, a lovely town with a beautiful warm water ocean beach. Pacific Palms RV resort is absolutely stunning, right on the boardwalk with beach access and walking distance to downtowns wonderfully amenities
Shame on me for not seeing more of Canada when I had the chance other than the 3 times I drove to and from Alaska and to Pr. Rupert to catch the ferry to Alaska and for a couple of quick trips to Vancouver, for what you have shown me so far in your vlogs is absolutely fantastic!
Pro Tip: Don’t hang out on the road in Cathedral Grove and if you see a dozen cars stacked up behind you, pull over and don’t jam up the passing lanes.

What I find fascinating that many of the charms of small city Canada have the same charm as small New England do. Thanks for sharing!
Coombs use to be even more weird and wonderful. The shops are similar but they use to have a kids hay rides, the mini golf, and other quirky things (as in the 90s era) they have kind of focused in on the goats on the roof and did away with the potential liability parts.
The expression on your girlfriends face at 7:02 is priceless lol! I loved this vid, so informative to watch while planning my trip and I also really enjoy your sense of humor :) Thanks so much!!
I am falling in love with BC. I would move there if not for the snow. I don't do well in snow. I was stationed in Bremerhaven Germany and it had a similar climate. We had a great summer one week.
@@WeOutHereAM As I said I don't do well in snow. Which means cold. It did not snow that much in Bremerhaven but it did stay around until March most times. Hated it when it thawed. I am just set up for it. To each their own.
Try again, good news it doesn't snow much on the Island except in the mountains. However, it rains and rains and rains, then it's foggy. That's why we have all those big beautiful trees.
There’s an awesome book store at the “sculpture graveyard”. Proper Aladdin’s Cave. P.S. You missed Hole In The Wall and Cameron Lake trestle from this list. Both incredible places to visit. Def check them out the next time you do the drive 👍🏻

Thanks for your videos, Mike. You always make me smile! Ucluelet and Tofino are my soul places - have been there often. So glad you love those places, too 🤗💖
My Grandfather built that butcher shop, He invented a locking system for deep sea fishing net floats. He called them "Pigs" ! Lol, don't know why he called them that but I can guess! The butcher shop was once a small factory. :)
You gotta be kidding. Been to Newfoundland what a depressing place. The weather sucks it’s isolated from the rest of Canada. Can’t even begin to compare to BC. you want super cheap housing
Did you go up north to Campbell river or port hardy ? If so I want to see it. I am heading up there mid February and looking for ideas off the beaten track
Look into going to Sointula on Malcolm Island - some great trails there and we love the peaceful atmosphere. Next time we are going to Alert Bay on Cormorant Island. Just keep an eye on the weather reports because the road N of Campbell River can get snowed in.
Hey Steve, if you have a moment, what dates were you there for this series...I'm heading there the 21rst of September...trying to get a feel for weather.
Hahaha. Yeah, no relation to Steve Downie. I was there the first week of August. It should still be warm in the afternoons in late September but will be very chilly in the mornings and at night. Enjoy!
Oh my gosh, we've been to Tofino three times and had no idea we had to stop to get a park pass!! We've obviously missed the padlock area and will look for it next time.
Tons of underwear and bikini's on that lock fence now. lol. I think they put the stairs there because too many people were falling down there to go on the rocks.
When you go to Pacific Rim park the village of Tofino is not in the park but the road to it goes through the park. Anywhere OUTSIDE of the park, you can "park" a vehicle for free. Inside the National Park, you must get a visitors pass and pay for parking if you want to visit it. Go to Ucluelet and park free on Willowbrae Road are walk into Halfmoon Bay (or go to Wrech Beach). You will almost always get a much less crowded west coast experience and still be in Pacific Rim Park. Definitely walk the Wild Pacific Trail in Ucluelet one of the best trails on Van Isle, a place with some of the best trails in the world. Yes, it is THAT good.
