The Maratha Empire (or confederacy) was the last major native super power in the Indian subcontinent prior to the establishment of the modern nation of India.

One major misconception about Indian history is that the British conquered the subcontinent from the Mughal Empire (that was even printed in my high school textbook). While it had effectively collapsed the same year (1757) the British East India company had first established a major foothold in subcontinent (the Nawab of Bengal: which had become independent of the Mughal empire years beforehand). The major power in the Indian subcontinent of the era was the Maratha Empire(confederacy) who the BEIC fought 3 wars with. (1775-1818)

Evolution is a lie. There is abundant evidence that debunks the theory of evolution.
First of all, there are zero true transitional species.
Every single living thing can be classified as a eukaryote or a prokaryote, a fish or an amphibian, and so on.
If evolution was true, then there must be species that are a transition between two kinds of living things.
If evolution was true, then there must be species that are a transition between prokaryotes and eukaryotes, between fish and amphibians, and so on.
But there are none.
See, in order to be a true transitional species, a species must contain organisms from two different kinds of living things.
There is no other possible way to bridge the evolutionary gap between the different kinds of living things.
For example, a transitional species between fish and amphibians must contain some organisms which are scientifically classified as fish and some organisms which are scientifically classified as amphibians.
But there are no species like this.
The fact is that there are zero true transitional species.
Secondly, there are zero transitional organs.
If evolution was true, then there must be organs that are a transition between two different organs.
For example, according to the theory of evolution, lungs evolved from swim bladders. So there should be an organ that is a transition between a swim bladder and a lung.
But there is no organ that is a transition between a swim bladder and a lung.
These are just some of the many evidences that prove that the theory of evolution is a fairy tale.

As a Sikh, I have tremendous respect for the Maratha people. Marathas are the real warriors and not the overrated Rajputs who, except for few warriors, easily surrendered to the Islamic dynasties based in Delhi, and not only that, they also gave their daughters to the Mughal emperors. Rajputs also never fought any battle against the British. Even in the freedom struggle against the British, they played no part in it. On the other hand, Maratha warriors fought long battles with the Mughals, British, and Ahmed Shah Abdali. Marathas also played a big part in the freedom struggle against the British-Indian government.

While I get where you're coming from, we have to understand that by 16 century Rajputs were tired of the 700 years of battles and sacrifices. They had been trying and defeating the invaders literally since 9th century. Cut them some slack. The Sikhs, Rajputs, Marathas, Ahoms, Kannads, Tamils and Telgus are pride of India. We owe them a huge debt of gratitude.
What do you know about Rajputs, other than Indian muslim historian told you , if you're Sikh Today that's because of Rajputs only , otherwise you would have become Muslim after first Arabic Caliphate in 712 ad there are many full fledged wars that rajputs have fought against Invaders , not small fights of thousands

It's one of the most balanced state in the country and also the most important state in the country since it generates the highest amount of revenue for India. State's population is around 110 million out of which 80 Million are Marathi people who shares ancestry with Maratha Empire. So, Yeah, They are well preserved and are not going anywhere!

The thing to discuss is not that the Marathas conquered large parts of India snatching from Mughals, but the speed at which they did it.
1700, few districts not more than 2000sq kms under Marathas.
1740, Marathas controlled from Khyber in the West, to Bengal in the East, from Andhra to the south, to Himachal in the north, around 300,000sq kms.
This is Mongol or Turkic level speed of conquest.
I think they reached Khyber in 1758-59. Correct me if I am wrong

Is it true that Shivaji Maharaj and the bhonsale clan in general traces it's heritage to the sisodiya rajputs of Mewar? Because then maharana Pratap and chhatrapati Shivaji might have been part of the same bloodline. Also read about the similarities between the Rajput Confederacy of Maharana Sanga and the maratha Confederacy. It'd be really fascinating.

We're all the same people, a lot of Rajput Kings helped the Invaders out of compulsion and sometimes greed but Maharana Pratap's grandfather Maharana Sanga created a Rajput Confederacy, where all clans, some afghans and Muslim rajputs had a place. His vision was very similar to that of hindavi swaraj. He defeated the Gujarat sultanate and defeated Ibrahim Lodhi of Delhi Sultanate in two successive battles. However the crushing defeat against Babur resulted in the end of the greatest Rajput alliance in our history. It's sad that indian people know so little about their own heroes Rajputs, Marathas, Sikhs alike.

@@A_Shanto tipu was already fighting and losing wars against the Marathas. Hyderabad state and Bengal state were next in line for the reconquest if weren't for the British. As for the Afghans, the Sikhs were dealing with them.
Don't forget the tamil lands were held by the Nayaks, the remanents of the Vijayanagara empire. Those guys would have assisted the Marathas with the reconquest of India for the Hindus.

Just as you release this video, There is a big political mess in the state of Maharashtra.
So basically there are four major political parties divided in camps of two, comprising of one national party and one regional party. Congress + NCP (left leaning) v/s BJP (the party of PM Modi) + Shiv Sena (right leaning).
So you need 145 seats to form govt.
The election results were
BJP 102
SS 56
NCP 54
Congress 44
Others
So you would think team (BJP+SS) has won it.
The SS ditched BJP and joined the opposition to form the govt because the BJP won't share the top job Chief Minister (CM) in the state with them for equal tenure ie both parties get it for 2.5yrs each.
Everyone was bewildered when BJP tried to breakup the NCP by sponsoring a coup, when early morning at like 5am, when everyone was sleeping the NCP no. 2 Ajit who is also the nephew of the party founder took oath of office for Deputy CM along with the BJP guy who took oath as CM. The NCP leader took oath of office claiming his party backed him even though the party and the party chief claimed they were going to form govt with NCP SS and Congress.
What had happened was the previous night all three parties met and were discussing the alliance, only a few things were left to discuss among which was who will be the CM, the leader of SS everyone said but he was reluctant and the alliance was largely agreed upon. They decided late at night to meet again the very next day and work out the last details.
The NCP prepared a letter saying we support the govt headed by with a blank where the name of SS chief would be put, attached was list of their winning candidates and their signatures. Ajit took this letter from the office, put the name of BJP guy in the blank space.
Both resigned yesterday as they couldn't prove the majority. Now the three parties will form a coallition govt presumably. Leaving the party with the largest numbers in election to sit in the opposition. This doesn't happen in two party system does it?

Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a monumental figure in history of India. From two small forts he expanded his empire gradually with many feats of personal bravery and heroism for which he is remembered even today. Despite his personal honour and bravery he was also an excellent administrator and he introduced innovative measures in a number of fields: Fort Construction, Agriculture, Warfare Tactics, etc. He built up Naval forces and also had network of spies throughout India. In the time when he was surrounded by rival empires he built up his kingdom to span nearly the entire India. He restored honour to Hindu religion and he was the one who realised the idea of Swaraj or self rule which continues to be influential till today. So he was a great soul of our country and we are eternally proud of him. If anyone's interested in reading more about him there's a book called "Challenging Destiny" by Medha Bhaskaran which details life of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaja. Jai Bhawani Jai Shivaji! Hari Aum
To all those Muslims and anti-Maratha people claiming stupid things, Let me clear certain things that after Mughal Emperor, Aurangzeb's death, Marathas broke them in independent princely states of Nizams of bengal, Nizams of Oudh and Nizams of Hyderabad which eventually weakened Mughals. Marathas placed their own puppet emperor on the throne of Delhi since Marathas couldn't rule from Delhi as their Capital lied in Maharashtra. The other reason were the Jats, Sikhs and other local kingdom as they couldn't afford a local empire on throne either. So, That's why nominal puppet mughal king was sitting on throne but he used to take orders from Marathas. Marathas and Sikhs were the only resisting force during this time. British waited for Marathas to demolish Mughals and once, they did, they captured the regions which were not under Marathas rule, This is how Marathas were continuously fighting. Now, The time came when British finally started a war with Marathas as there were no other major powers. Marathas were the sole rulers of most of subcontinent. They fought for 70 years with Marathas being the most powerful force of present day India and once, they were beaten, British finished the Sikh empire in just 1 year and finally captured the whole India. A note for all, British didn't fight Mughals but Marathas for 70 years to rule India.
Some people who are claiming about Muslim rule didn't initiate conversion, Look at Muslim population of whole subcontinent including Pakistan and Bangladesh, It's more than 650 million. You really think that these 650 million muslims today came from arab land or turkland or uzbekistan? No, 95% of them have indian ancestary and many of them actually shares indian surnames, many of them have Rajput ancestry too. India and China were always populous and that's why Islamic rule couldn't convert the whole India because of it's massive population otherwise India would have looked similar to Iran today(who were Zoroastrians). Marathas reduced the Islamization in india, If not for Marathas before british arrived, India would have had at least 50-50% share or even less of hindu-muslim population in the subcontinent compared to 60-40% hindu-muslim population today. If 500 more years would have given to Islamic rulers, India would have become a 100% islamic states but thanks to our warriors because of whom we are not cult followers..
Marathas are people who came with idea that land must be ruled by natives of place, swaraj (self rule) and not by invaders.
In India land was ruled by Persian and Turkic origin Indians and most of the taxes went to capitals for ex- mughals to Delhi. Local Indians (hindus and muslims) mostly worked for them or were semi independent state.

In the 19th century the Maratha empire no longer existed, different factions were practically independent. The Brahmin caste became dominant because they took over the role of pms again, while most other kingdoms remained anti caste system

Though some would say he is Nepalese because he was born in Lumbini which is in modern day Nepal. But still at the end of the day it does not really matter that much to me. Fuck that shit! Buddha was born on the damn earth.
There is not much in nepal history. British defeated gurkhas in around 1818 anglogurkha war . It went for around 10 years . Maharaja of nepal surrendered and became ally of british east india company. British hired nepalis to include in their army and they still serve in British army .
