Madame is one of my faves...I do think she looks like Parker. This puppet is one of the funniest of all time. Nice to see this old school footage...thanks.
Bah Humbug ~ I remember that and then when his mother (Pearl Bailey)arrives and sees her she says, "Norman...is that you?" Thinking her son became a drag queen.
Saw the movie years ago in Washington DC. Also met Redd Foxx and Slappy White when I was an Elevator Operator at the US Capitol. They were so nice to me. :-)
I just thought that this movie was soo funny. I want it on DVD now I'd almost forgotten about it. Luckily I'd video taped most of the Madame's Place sitcom back in the 80's.
People probably didn't care that you could clearly see him doing the talking for her because the puppet is so over the top and gesticulates so much that you don't pay attention to him.
Does anyone have the film of Madam's x-rated HBO special? It was hilarious. She told a story about her fiance Jacque, then gave the definition of "fiance" "it's french for who you are fucking now"
Yes, it's here in YT! Look for "Madame in Manhattan" you can find the original VHS on eBay or Amazon occasionally. It's all these gags and more. Uncensored.
SO many people only know Wayland Flowers & Madame from Hollywood Squares. I saw him every time he performed at the Grand Finale in NYC. I've never seen NORMAN, IS THAT YOU?, but I will, because it was even funnier when foul mouth Madame used a profanity instead of "doing it with" as in this clip.
This is a fun film, and feels like a stage production (which I think it was originally). My love of Wayland Flowers and Madame as a child probably explains the fact that the only male friends I keep in touch with from high school are gay.
Yes, but you could tell Wayland - like Jeff Dunhamand others now, had a skill for adapting his shows to fit guidelines, even with his impromptu stuff. Such talent, gone too soon.
Thanks for posting this! It's a pleasure to see Waylan and Madame again.
GOD! "I WENT AS A POPPER!" This guy is KING/QUENN CAMP!" I miss him!
Madame always made my dad laugh. He used to know Wayland Flowers. I miss them both.
Oh thats great! was a bit young, but I remember Wayland and Madame from the 80's.. forgot all about that.
wow.......i remember being a kid and my mom use to watch this show.........*memories*

So funny. He was so good.
I got such a kick out of them and I didn't even know what they were talking about...I was too young. Now I GET IT. My face hurts from cracking up.
I have absolutely got to watch this movie...I mean, talk about something that is so esoteric and yet has so much '70's pop culture goodness...wow...

Very rare to see so much Wayland!
I love Wayland Flowers and Madame as a kid. Funny as all hell! Such a loss.
Oh wow!!! This is so goodand sad at the same time! Waylon, Madame & Redd. Thanks for posting. I loved watching this, brought back a lot of memories!
Wayland was NOT a ventreloquist (sp). Just great talent!! Madame seemed to be a real persona seperate from Wayland.
Amazing how he's able to do Madame's feminine voice & he's not ventriloquist
She was more famous than Wayland.
I just thought that this movie was soo funny. I want it on DVD now I'd almost forgotten about it. Luckily I'd video taped most of the Madame's Place sitcom back in the 80's.
Wayland and Madame were divine
Wayland did it his way. He was ALWAYS seen doing the talking....that was his thing....He didn't care if you saw the gag!
People probably didn't care that you could clearly see him doing the talking for her because the puppet is so over the top and gesticulates so much that you don't pay attention to him.
This was a great movie, it needs to be on DVD, I love Tamara Dobson, she died too young!
The piano player at 3:13 is Amazing.
" I fall in love too easily"
That was one tight set. What a brilliant performer. Never appreciated Flowers before.
Looked like Foxx liked it too. He was no slouch.
Great clip!
"...I tripped on the pattern in the rug, that's how stoned I was!"
Classic!
i use to love to watch Madam's place(i think that was the show)but i had a hard time stayingup until 11 on Friday's back in the early 80's
Good lord he was one heck of a puppeteer!
The piano player is probably Wayland's long-term associate Gary Simmons.
Goodbye Fred,Madame and Wayland.
She is HILARIOUS
THat puppet used to scare the ever loving shit out of me when i was a kid. It still gives me chills.
Trobinson97 ktidoefi
Hahaha! Remember me?
Wayland was often outside of the spotlight so it was like he wan't there at all. See the uploads of Madame in Manhattan.
Take a look. Madame's on the comeback.
You ain’t kiddin
@Sneezedoodle Well, Wayland wasn't a ventriloquist. He was a performer and (I guess) a puppeteer.

OMG..Madame scared the shit out of me and still do. She makes me sick..Oh Lord :(

i need more

Brilliant
He was on the cleveland show tonight :3
Wow and ode to Sara Jessica Parker...just kidding...LOL
Redd Foxx is the same cantankerous character he did on "Sanford & Son".
Love Disneyland jokes
Funny !!!
I had no idea Madame was so randy! She certainly toned things down for tv.
@marlis44 the new voice of madame is freakin amazing sista gurrl and betty dayvus are fuckin funny as hell
-Madame & Judge Judy look alike.
@ 3:00 "if he dies, he dies" -- so did Sylvester Stallone get that line for Ivan Drago from this movie?!?
XD
why whould they know each other
This is basically his nightclub act but very censored -- all the swear words have been replaced -- she was pretty raunchy.
I miss them both.
Yes, but you could tell Wayland - like Jeff Dunhamand others now, had a skill for adapting his shows to fit guidelines, even with his impromptu stuff. Such talent, gone too soon.
@tygersflowerz , ya i get your drift,...other ventriloquist don't move their lips and this dude, he's goin' ninety miles an hour with his smackers!!!
LOL
😂😂😂😂
the actor with Redd Foxx has Justin Bieber hair.
You mean 😏 Dennis Dugan, right 👉?
Lol, fred sanford...
he moves his mouth so much
He SAID he's not a ventriloquist.
This is not funny
