I am an avid beachcomber and love to share my adventures and treasure finds. Shells, rocks, sea glass, beach glass - I love it all. In addition to the beachcombing, I am an artist and love to make art from my treasures. When I can't be on the beach, I like to take out mmy metal detector to look for buried treasure! Part Mermaid, part Pirate 😊🐚
Yooperlite Hunting / Lake Superior rock and treasure hunting!
I finally found my first Yooperlite in the Keewanau Peninsula of Michigan! The Keewanau is a wild and beautiful place to visit. It has a lot of beautiful beaches, rocks and fossils and miles of trees and views! We visit Marquette, Calumet, and Copper Harbor. Let's check out the "Yoop"!

Amazing video. Beautiful scenery and shorelines. I love this. I have never found yooperlites before and it's awesome! Thanks for sharing with us!!!
Thanks for watching - I knew a handful of people would watch despite the length! It is so beautiful up there - I am always in awe! 😊
So cool!! Never saw one before!! Thanks for sharing!
They were so fun to find! Thank you!😊
They were discovered on the shores of Lake Superior in 2017 so more than likely there's been some illegal dumping of radioactive waste, maybe they've been dumping in the lake for decades and as a result these rocks were contaminated with radiation... glowing rocks don't just appear out of thin air.
No -all naturally occurring minerals that make them glow.
I really enjoyed this video, thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it! it was a long one! thanks for watching! 😊
What an awesome adventure. We found our first yooperlite a few years ago than went the next year not finding any. This year, we had lots of luck at Crisp Point Lighthouse. We really like the glow of them. Thanks for sharing. We se the Convoy C8 365nm also. The Petoskey Stone has a good UA-cam channel also.
That is awesome! How was the road to Crisp Point - i've never done it because I have read reviews about the road! Thanks for watching and commenting😊
@TravelingTreasureFinder We have a Dodge Journey with just front wheel drive and it was fine. We have been there twice this year It is a ways to get there.
You found some really nice stones. Its really something the way rocks change from wet to dry, from day or night, or the type of lighting their under. Enjoy the piece they bring you ! :~)
They do give me peace - I love it so much! Thanks for watching!😊
I don't know why some people have to take the fun out of channels like yours. I've had people come after me for my lack of knowledge on things, an I'm just a commenter. I can only go by what I've researched, seen, or heard. I don't mind if someone would put me on the right trail, but don't harass or belittle me. I'm sure you feel the same. Most of the time I just like the way they look or what sentimental value they have to me, thats all. :~)
Haters hate I guess🤷🏼♀️ I try to research things I don't know but sometimes I get it wrong. And, I do a lot of my videos "on the fly" and I sometimes say the wrong thing. I try to fact check when I edit - which is why I put things on the screen if I realize i said something wrong. I just like to share the beauty around us, but some folks want to cut you down. 😞 Thank you for your comments and support - it really means a lot!😊
Looks like a leaverite
Ask anyone who has found them, definitely a keeper, not a leaver.😊
It's always exciting when you see the rock glow.
It's so cool!! 👏🏻😊
Sweet favosites too!
Nice one, good detail!
Thank you! Cheers!
What shell catch/digger is that? I love it!
I bought it years ago on Captiva. It is no longer in production. I am trying to have them made to sell, but it's design is very cost prohibitive. It really works so well!
There are always people that will complain.
indeed
Pier Cove Creek is also loaded with gold and garnets/garnet sand. Bring your gold pan!
Really, I had no idea! I have to say that I have never panned for gold or garnets. I would like to try it sometime. Is there a trick to it?
@@TravelingTreasureFinder I just watched UA-cam videos to learn the method and just got out and practiced. The gold is very fine so it makes it a bit more difficult.
Great video, I love the razor clams! I recently took a vacation to Charleston and made it a point to visit Hunting Island. Can I just say how much I love that beach; it's so beautiful at sunrise. Just you, the sun, God, and waves!!! What more can we ask for right.
Thank you and I agree! it was so peaceful there! Loved it! Thanks for watching 😊
First time here and subscribed 1 minute into watching. I can wait for us to visit here next year for our honeymoon.
Thank you so much - happy to have you along! Folly Beach is wonderful❤️
It depends on the wind direction, the tide stage, storms out at sea and all sorts of things like luck. My wife and I had pretty good luck two weeks ago on the north end off Ramp 59. The wind was blowing up the beach and the shelling was pretty good north of the ramp about 2 hours or so before low tide. We found 5 intact scotch bonnets in 3 days. along with a number of intact sand dollars and the usual assortment of common shells. It just depends. But it is always beautiful.
Wow, that is great! I plan to check out Portsmouth Island next winter when I am in the area. I hope they run out there in the winter. It was too windy when I was there last time. thanks for the info!😊
Those wavy top snails are gorgeous and the rocks are awesome!!😊
Thank you!
Cool ,wavy tops! Where are you?@TravelingTreasureFinder
Early in the morning after a king tide should produce
That's a gorgeous beach!!😊
It is one of my favorites when I am in San Diego! 😊
Beautiful area.
I think so too!😍
Thank you for the video! So great when there is a welcoming member of the sea glass community :)
You are so welcome 😊 thanks for watching!
Absolutely beautiful! God's creations!! ❤
It's so magical there! 😍
We passed through there years ago and really enjoyed hiking in the area. I remember the road coming into town from the north was crazy curvy and steep.
yes! One of our favorite places to hike and just BE. 😍
Thank you for telling NOT to take live shells or LIVE Sand dollars!
Yes, that is a BIG NO!
yuo should have taken the side road called stickney brook road its right on route 30, the brook there has lots of loose garnets there. Maybe next time you can check it out!
Thank you! I can't wait to go back there!
finding the perfect "baby" shells is my favorite now!
Love the babies!😊
ED is toe
Very nice rocks!
Thank you! Cheers!
Me too girl, me too!! Love Sanibel!!!😊❤
I hope to get there next winter 🐚🐚🐚🥰
Nice video. I lerned a lot and am planning on heading to that area in a few weeks. Thanks for sharing 👍.
Glad it was helpful!
My understanding of Michigan rules is that most if not all Lake Michigan shoreline is free game up to the high water line. Usually, it is simple to discern where that high water line is.
Yes, that is my understanding, but many property owners do not agree 😞
This beautiful beach is near and dear to my heart...many lovely memories and the large majority of my shell collection came from here
Lucky you! I am hoping to go back there very soon!❤️🐚
What beach are you on?
I believe this is either Doctor's or Klode park... I haven't been in some time.
Do you know of places to hunt for sea glass in Maine. Planning a trip there in September!!
So my adventure involved some private land near York. Someone commented that most of Maine's coastline is private. I don't know if that is true or not. I did check out many big beaches and found zero glass. I think that with recycling and increased interest in seaglass, it is much harder to find. I guess I would say that your best bet would be to check near harbors (boat traffic) and check at low tide. Maybe after a storm? Google the coastline to see if you can find any access points that aren't as well traveled. I wish you luck and let me know if you find anything!
That fossilized Swiss was so cool!😊😊
It was! I wish I could have kept it, but I don't take home many of my treasures. I admire them and leave them on the beach😊
🧀 😂
Nice!! Why Secret? Can you share?🤗
All I mean is that California actually does have some shells! I have a hard time finding them most of the time! So California has been keeping a secret!
just one of those turbans would make me happy !!!!😊
I know! It was so fun to find them!
That big turban piece is gorgeous!!!!
Portsmouth Island is where the shelling is at. Rent a boat to drop you off and bring your bags.
I'm definitely going there next time I am in the area. It was bad weather (too windy) and very early in the season when we were there so we couldn't get there. 😞
@@TravelingTreasureFinder best to arrive just after the storms and when the waters calmer and easier for rentals to get over, charters. Definitely pack bug spray and water, shade device. But all the best shells that are sold to tourists that are sourced locally are from Portsmouth island. They used to have a vehicle ferry to 4x4 over there but the water is rising too high to do it now. Essentially driving and sitting in saltwater, not very good on the trucks. It’s a really cool feeling to be in a place that’s fading back into the natural cycle after its brief habitation. It’s really wild.
@@SLHJR0390 I was reading about it tonight. is it best to take the car ferry over, or just go on foot? It seems like you wouldn't be able to get too far if you are on foot? Oh, I would love to go!
@@TravelingTreasureFinder if you’re shelling and take a charter boat over they’ll take you right to the shells. Put you right on them.
i loved that you continued to label the shells you found. The repetition was exactly what I needed as a beginner. Just from watching one of your videos I've learned 5 new kinds of shells
Oh thanks - that is great! I'm glad it helped because it does make for more editing work! Thanks for watching 😊
Always combing lake Michigan's shorelines... are these worth anything or just cool I wonder 🤔
I think there are some rock shops that will buy them, but they are fairly common so mostly just cool!😊
Love your finds! Check out Carlsbad State Beach Sometime😊 (Amazing finds there as well)
Thank you! Will do!
Beautiful!!

All of Texas was under the ocean
Love that you went to Port! My hometown! And I know that secret spot 😏 Thanks for sharing!
😊
I found a piece of sea blue stone
Wow, that first round quartz and that Petoskey! Beautiful!!
The best!
