I am also kind of divided on what I want to share and what not to share. I would want others to get to enjoy finding shells because then they can also feel the rush that I feel when I find shells but on the other hand, like you mentioned, overtime more and more people start combing through that same spot so obviously the resources do start diminishing. I feel like if maybe if the spot was large enough then MAYBE. >:3 But I do strongly agree that we all deserve to keep some secret spots for ourselves.

Yes, I think it definitely depends on the situation! Thank you for watching! I'm not sure when I will get the chance to go shelling again, but a girl can dream! So many beaches, so little time!😊

Now that I live in FL, the beaches are public for the most part. On top of that, the shells are usually not in the same spot every day so I don't have a secret spot. I like everyone to enjoy God's creation so I usually share it if I find an interesting place.

I agree ! I don't have any shelling secret spots! Though, competition can be tough sometimes! I think that is why people go out in the dark to look for shells sometimes😊 Thanks for commenting and watching!

October my secret spot was PCB. I knew they had recently replenished the beach so instead of shelling by the water I was up in the dry sand finding tons of shells, many of which I’d never found before. I guess you could say I kept it a secret because I didn’t tell those coming up empty by the water that the shells were plentiful there!

That is awesome! but wait, what is PCB? Sorry I'm not up on my achronyms! 😊

Sharing your secret spot is the wrong thing to do in most cases. I was at my secret spot today, following heavy surf the sand was completly gone and all the Coble exposed. Found multiple ceteacean vertebrae, ribbs , and other bones. many fossils, and some relics as well. I went with a dive buddy that I share info with. Then shared pics with some other good friends but lied or didn't reveal the location. Don't blow up your spotz, and not only will they remain productive, but when others discover them they will have actually accomplished something, as opposed to just having someone else put them on the goods. If you make public or blow up your spots you're likely to see Treasures from there sold to random collectors on eBay and that's always heartbreaking

I keep my fossil hunting spots secret unless I get an equal trade.
    I always share Beachcombing locations.
    Beaches change constantly.

That is a good strategy. I agree with you about the beaches ever changing. But in my example about Leland, you can almost always find glass and blue stones there, and 20 years ago, they practically jumped in your bucket. Now, with many, many people hunting, it is not as easy as it once was. But I guess, nothing stays the same anyway. If it weren't for the internet, I wouldn't be able to share what I do!🤷🏼‍♀️😊 So, where do you fossil hunt? 😜 Not specifically, but what state are you in (or country?)

@@TravelingTreasureFinder I'm in Florida. I live in St Petersburg. Pass a grill Beach is my go-to beach to find seashells because it's only like a 10 minute drive from me.
I hunt fossils all over Florida.. typically I'm hunting west of the Peace River in creeks and on land. I like to stay away from the well-known shark tooth hunting spots. I like to go for the more secret secluded areas.
I don't hunt for shark teeth on a beach anymore, I tell people that's for rookies 😆🤭 the good quality shark teeth and Megalodon teeth are Inland in Creeks rivers and on land where construction is happening... I have my own UA-cam channel too if you want to check out some of my videos. They aren't the best but you get the idea lol

@@TheAdventurousRealtor Oh i will definitely check out your channel! I had hoped to look for sharks teeth in and around the Peace River when I was in Florida last year, but it didn't happen. I'm not sure if you saw my video of finding sharks teeth in a creek in Sherman, Texas. That was so much fun! I think this is the situation where you need a pal to share a secret spot!!😊 I also wanted to hunt in NC for Meg teeth, but didn't really know where to go. There was a sharks tooth dealer down in St. Augustine and he said the majority of his large sharks teeth are from NC.

I do not have a secret spot. My hunting locations are always public locals. I also work in a public library so I have a built in need to assist people with things they are searching for. If I had a secret spot I would share with my husband. He rarely tells because I already have, lol.

Yes, I agree that in your line of work, you would need to be transparent! That is why I feel a bit of an obligation as well on this channel. I have received great beach finding tips from people who work at the tourism centers. Thanks for commenting and watching!
