It Might Be Time To Adjust Your Throttle Cable
Переглядів 7 тис.Рік тому
How to recover lost power in your vehicle by fixing a stretched throttle cable. Many people are driving cars missing out on full throttle because the cable has stretched. This also affects the feel of the throttle and the throttle response massively. #cars #carprojects #maita #maitamx5 #mazdamx5 #mazdamiatamx5 #howto #carproblems #fixcar
I rebuilt several Alfa engines and he assembled and fired up a very dry engine. I always dunked the pistons in oil before installing in the bore and prefilled the oil filter as well as turning the engine over without spark plugs/no compression resistance for the starter motor till it built pressure. During assembly also corrected valve cap clearance issues using the correct shims. He can be forgiven the rough start having installed new carbs in sore need of adjustment.
I just used panel bond for the first time I think it's great but I also got welded for extra.....
4:19 “let’s get these old rear carpets out.” Pulls out drill* 😂 Old cars are pain
I bought my first Alfa 5 months ago. Cost 6 k for the car than and 6 to restore to 95% condition.
The 1750 was last made in 1970. How is this. 74 model year a 1750? Was the original 2000 replaced?
The Wes Anderson intro! Cue, action!
After more than 30 years away from Alfas I'm trying to get a local car hoarder to sell me a 1971 1750 GTV. A complete and straight but very rusty car, needs everything, but the engine was gone through at 50,500 miles, the car is showing 64,000 miles when it was parked in 1984. I had a 2000 Spider back in the 1980s, did a lot of bodywork on it. Now the itch is returning, clearly a sign of dementia.
I'm trying to get a hoarder to sell me his 1971 GTV 1750, it's badly rusted, interior is shot, but it is straight and all there. If I can get it I'll build a chassis rotisserie and rip out all the rusted steel. I'll put the hood, doors, trunk lid, and many other parts in a bath of Evapo-Rust, also treat the roof and many other areas with it. Evapo-Rust gets rid of all rust, even into the pits, leaving grey steel. Edd China has a recent video on putting a Land Rover frame in it prior to hot dip galvanizing, it works like magic and won't distort panels the way sand blasting can. It is non-toxic and can be reused many times.
Fantastic. Looking at the rubber floor mats remembered me something. I had an 1971 GTV 1750 with same type of mats. Made those shine with various stuff. One day, my my 80 year old mother tried to step in, slipped and ended between the chair and underneath the dashboard. Never in my life i've heard the language coming out of my mum, before starting to laugh and saying ; this stupid old car !
Nice job!
I would have kept the mechanical fuel injection on the engine.
That engine is like a 4 cylinder dual overhead cam hemi.
No sound dead mat for the floor?
It would have been better to sand blast that old surface rust in my opinion, then treat all of the blasted surfaces with phosphoric acid, then spray the parts that are not going to be welded with 2 stage epoxy primer.
I wish I fit in those. I had one way back in the 1980's. I didn't fit, but I forced myself to drive it anyway because it was so cool. I had a '74.
Ciao, you made a big and good job, but... The smallest mistake is that you didn't respect the seams, the bigest mistake was to criticize the paint job of Alfa Romeo without knowing what you were talking about. Alfa Romeo never used the clear coat on this car in that period, it was a single component. Italiano ed alfista! 🇮🇹
Love this
Wifi throttle😂
Looking great!
Oh no, that’s even worse than my Volvo 1800ES. When I bought mine, it looked good, but got worse and worse as I tore deeper into it. Same crap as on yours with scraps of steel brazed in. And covered with an inch of tar undercoat. I’m cleaning out the rust from inside the rockers now. Hey, since yours is a convertible, shouldn’t it be braced with a welded in support so the frame stays strait when you weld in new rockers?
UGLY and JUNK
I like the pragmatic approach so far.. looking forward to part 2
I enjoyed seeing you rebuild the Alfa engine and transmission. It brought back fond memories of the Alfa Spider I recovered decades ago. Hope to see more of your videos on this car soon.
well done mate great stuff
11k for a solidly restored classic Spyder is not bad at all. I suspect any similar car purchased for less would wind up needing at least some of the work you did.
Great job, but sad to see that you did not respect the 2 seams in the rocker panel. The only cars that don't show them are usually full of bondo and indicate a poor repair job. If at all possible before final paint to put some groves in there it will look right.
i have done same car, good stuff
my son wants one .but the rings are so vulnerable to rust.
Is this car worth the money PLUS THE WORK? Defenitly not. But: Those Alfa Spiders are Design Icons. They will be much more expensive in the future. Its one of the few convertibles that looks good with closed soft top.
I would SO love to see someone with the means to re-make a classic Alfa using a composite structure body. Exactly like the original, just not prone to rusting away...and lighter to boot. If I had the means...I would do exactly that.
very good job
Well done. You did a great job keeping costs to a minimum. I'm at least 16K deep into my 1979 MGB...
Very cool. Where’s part 2?
This was a great watch Max. Nice work.
Great job, and thank you. I turned down a car that had sat in a barn for decades. My gut just said walk away. Thanks to your video I can easily imagine my car having the same compromised bearings. i wouldn't know until I tried road testing it.
Awesome welding and frabraction. Rattle can paint? That baby needs proper paint!
Were you aware that the crank was nitrided and it should be re-nitrided after grinding?
i know it's a stupid question, but how does the pedal side become taut?
What’s that product you used to glue that panel
Are you going to be selling this car?
So what was wrong with the old wheels if you don't mind me asking? I have a 1972 model in Perth Western Australia and restored the Original Magnesium wheels and they look great, but I would much prefer the old steel wheels and the small center hubcaps that you bought your Alfa with originally 😁👍🏻
Good work man! It sounds great too 👌🏼
Asse agamme alzata da 9 mm
Nice Job. I like the mini mags.
A mere question, do you think it's possible to switch from 1600cc to 1800cc on the same engine by keeping the valves and crankshaft ?
Heading to check out a 1986 Grad. Spider soon. Garage-kept (nice, attached garage), but it's been sitting for at least a decade. Maybe two. Any recommendations on specific things to look out for would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, all!
Well done Young man👍🏻👌🏻
Warning - No crescent shaped Thrust Washers were installed on both sides of the center Main Bearings during this rebuild video.
I put them in. It's not clearly seen in the video.
AMAZINGNES!!! Looks very similar to the "Missile" 19 feet racing sailboat from boat builders handbook. Looking forward to future videos!!! Great commentary btw!!!
