    Good job! I've got an '07 Envoy with only 129k miles on it but it's about that age when the electrical gremlins are expected to begin kicking in. I started mine a couple of days ago and the intermittent wipers began sweeping the dust (I'm in western North Dakota, so I use the washers more for dust than for rain lol) and when I rotated the speed settings, the washers would spray at two or three of the settings. My first guess was the switch but after researching and seeing the module attached to the motor, I think that is the most likely culprit. It sucks that in this day and age, it is often cheaper to buy an entire assembly instead of only the broken part (but, in your case, it's a good thing you did!). After 17 years of age, I'll probably just get the entire assembly to ensure I'm not back in there a month later... Good job showing off the different attachment and securement points, especially since so much is plastic these days and easily broken. Thanks for taking the time to share this! :)

    It's not that simple unless you are doing an exact like for like change of battery that is the same amperage and the same battery chemistry. If you switch to a different cold crank amp rating and/or switch to a better battery chemistry like an AGM battery you have to tell the system the differences. This is the same type of problem as if you don't change the serial number. The battery management system knows the serial number. Changing it tells the car you have a new fresh battery not an older one. The BMS adjusts the flow from the alternator to your battery based upon its age and use. You dont want to overcharge a brand new battery...so by telling the BMS you have a different serial number you are telling it that there is a new battery. The exact same concept applies to both the CCA rated amperage and the battery chemistry. If either, or both, are different from the OEM you started with you need to tell the BMS. Failure to do so will shorten the lifespan of your new battery and may kill your alternator. The upshot is you have to also code the amp and battery chemistry differences if there are any.

      @@taylorsnyder2458 sounds like you have a oil pan gasket leak

    • @fluxcapacitor05
      @fluxcapacitor05 8 днів тому

      It can, and does, depending on where the drip path is. I rebuild these engines and can tell you the leak from the banjo typically drips onto the catalytic converter and down onto the exhaust flange, sometimes onto the oil pan. If the leak is from the block (other side of the oil feed line) the drip path will definitely drip down the block and onto/underneath the oil pan. But there are so many places residual oil on the oil pan can source -- front main seal, oil pan gasket (RTV gasket, not an actual gasket), front timing cover gasket (not an RTV gasket), or from any of the interfacing components adjacent to the front cover. Typically, if there was one to fail it would be the front main seal or the timing cover, because these are the first seals to go once this engine's signature failure happens: the PCV, which WILL fail on every single GM 1.4 out there... every single one of them. The "fix" for this is deleting it with a PCV fix kit (ex: cruzekit) or replacing it with an entirely different PCV system (ex: ZZPerformance PCV system) with a catch can. However, the only true FIX for this is rebuilding the engine, because once the PCV system fails every seal on the engine will ultimately begin to also fail because of building high crackcase pressures, derived from a failed PCV system, that create internal stresses that none of the seals were ever designed to handle.
