Axle Replacement for My Ram 3500
The AAM11.5 rear axle in my 07 Ram 3500 rusted through so I picked up a used axle and will be fixing it up before I install it into the truck.

93 Sportster Bobber Build - PT3 - Setting Up the Handlebar Controls and Internal Switch Wiring
1200 cc on 883 cc heads ? is that sucking through a straw ? - doing the head teardown - pocket port a little clean polish valves ? seems backwards to me ? - s pent $3,5oo on the block - and $7,000 on the heads ! - 8,200 rpm brian crower components !
You are correct! The head is going to be the bottle neck on the power here and that is also why I didn't bother with any cams. This is more of a budget build than a high power build. That being said, this should still bring it from its ~40hp to ~70hp, which is significant. Some head work would bump those number up considerably higher, but its not in the budget for me right now. Sounds like you have a hell of a build there! That's probably 120+ hp! Is that thing a blast to ride? You should post some pictures or videos of it
Update?
It is coming! I had been busy with some things and have not had the time to finished editing the next few videos, but I just recently started working on them again
picked up one a few month ago also needing tlc @ 44k miles. they are good bikes
Nice find! I agree, great bikes!
I'm about to cave too, it's between this one and the Bauer 8" so I'm looking forward to your video that I just started watching!
Great, hope the video helped! Let me know what you end up going with
@@cheesingarageI did get the Bauer 8” buffer, not even on sale! I got their combo 8” grinder/ 2”x 28”belt sander as well, both are really nice
Ive been modeling my 93 build after yours, but i am stuck on the ignition switch. I have the same one you used, do you know what wires you ran to the back of the new switch?
I don't recall offhand but I will try and take a look next time I am out in the garage
Man, I could talk to you for a minute. Those buttons are trash and the angle of the housing, like you mentioned, doesn’t work out when you install the switche. And the owner will just talk shit to you.
Interesting, thanks for sharing. Once I was able to get them in correctly I haven't had any issues so far, but I will keep you posted.
Prism supply has a small brake reservoir and lever
Thanks, I will have to check it out!
Super helpful. Currently doing cams and high compression top end rebuild and researching ignition mods on my 91. 🤘 2000-i it is in my case.
Good luck with the build! Glad this was helpful!
bolts are upside down.. 🤔
Pre 95, this is how the studs were installed from the factory
I have a 1998 fatboy with an evo second gen . So all you need it’s that unit and the coil , you just disconnect the oem module under the seat ? Do you have to bypass any of the original wiring from the Oem module . “Not the ignition pick up down in the engine that gets discarded .
I wish you would have shown the alternator cable swap a bit more. I have a rubber grommet that the cable runs through and its connected to some sort of clip that the ac lines run through. For the life of me I cant find where the clip is to remove these.
Change the oil ? Thought you just rebuilt the engine...
Good catch, I misspoke. I was just refilling with new oil and changing the old oil filter
Very good video and visual instruction.
Thanks! I'm glad it was helpful.
Can you make these into a variable speed?
I am not sure, but HF does make an 8in buffer with a variable speed
Thanks for the video and bacon on!
You are welcome! Glad you enjoyed it.
This is definitely not a how-to video. This is a watch me do it video
RTFM
Correct, this whole series is more of a 'follow me while I build my project' than a how to. There are plenty of how to videos out there by people who have way more experience than myself. Sorry if you though this was misleading, but I hope you still enjoyed the video 👍
When you tightened your axel nut back on was it pulling the axel out of the diff making it unsealed ?
No, I did not have any issues with sealing or having the axle pull out
Still holding up good?
So far, so good, haven't had any issues with it.
I bought the Battery post clamp in Swan River Manitoba for $ 11.00 Canadian. Add wire and an end connector for $ 2.00 . Really good price compared to new OEM Cables.
Nice! Sounds like a good deal!
Will this work for an 05
The 05 had a 5.9 cummins, so the install would be similar but a little different. The website I linked has a cable kit for the 05 as well.
I’m building a wider platform for ATV’s.. need to extend the petals so they come out further.. has anyone done it and if so how or where did you get the extensions?
I haven't done it, but I would think the easiest way would be to just weld and extension onto the existing pedal. Good luck with the build!
Picked up a NIB one at a garage sale for $30! Still haven't set it up, but have 3-4 projects backing up...
Nice find!
Something is wrong with your editing. I kept hearing music in the background.
Thanks for the feedback. I'm still learning editing and trying new things here and there. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt
Thank you very helpful video, but instead ov the 14mm I found that a universal box end wrench works best
Good to know, glad the video helped you out!
Do you know if it matters to use copper core plug wires? Got a kit with suppressor wires and I'm hesitant to put them on.
I believe suppressor core is preferred for bikes with electronic ignition. I went with the copper core (without realizing this) but I haven't had any issues so far.
It’s the heat from the exhaust pipe that roasts the electrical on the motor. For better results, put some exhaust wrap for a couple feet around the exhaust on the area that is close to the TC motor. You’re welcome 👍
Thanks for the tip!
Hi, thanks for the video. Did you manage to find a sleeker brake reservoir and lever?
Unfortunately not yet, just been riding as it. If you end up finding one before I do, let me know!
Thank you,great video❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
What are the chrome pieces called on the side of your doors trying to get some for my truck
I don't know what the are officially called but I have always referred to them as rub strips, door molding or door trim. Hope that helps you out
"Um" ? From Umbridge? 😅
*I do the same. Lol*
🤣
I knew that I did it, but I didn't realize how bad it was until I started editing the video lol
Do you know the size of the cap wrench you used for the hydraulic filter?
Not off hand sorry. I have a kit that has pretty much every size, I recommend one if you don't have one. Mine is similar to this - amzn.to/3W5mp1X
Thanks for this man, I'm building a 93 Sporty and it seems we have very similar ideas, so it's great to see someone doing what I need to see. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed the video/build! Good luck with your build also!
I just bought a 738 new with auto coupler. Mower rattles and makes noises. I think it's the part that holds the coupler in place. Does your mower deck rattle?
I cant say that I noticed any rattle from the mower deck other than the antiscalp wheels. Those get pretty noisy on mine
what brand wheel hub bearing assembly did you use and how have they been working for you??? Any issues?
They are MOOG, I linked everything in the description. I haven't had any issues with them so far
Appreciate the video! I am doing a similar job and got a set without helper springs so this answered my question on swapping them over.
Glad it helped, good luck with you swap!
Once that obnoxious music started I was done. See ya!
Is it the music choice, or that there is music at all? Serious question. I am always looking to improve the videos
@@cheesingarage Music choice and volume.
Thanks for the feedback 👍
The music change from teardown to rebuild is great 😂 😊
That's really how it feels sometimes haha
I got one of these, does pretty well but too easily stops if you use too much pressure.
Yea it works for what I need it for, but it is only a 1/2 hp motor
What is that bar you had to take off
Do you mean the bracket connecting the block and the transmission? Its just a brace between the engine and transmission. I believe its actual name is an adapter plate bracket brace. From what I heard, it might not be installed on all years of the truck.
Nice
Thanks!
Sweet lookin truck. I don't like red paint on trucks but this looks good. A good darker shade of red.. 💪😎
Red can be a difficult color sometimes especially on larger vehicles. I was a little iffy on the color of this truck originally, but it really grew on me
jost found the video, good review. by the way, that bobber looks awesome.
Thanks! Its still a work in progress but I have been loving it so far!
I'm 400 miles away from home pulling a 20ft trailer with 4 atvs on it and my truck just started doing this. Thanks for the info
Hope it helped you out and that you made it back safe!
Hi! I want instal this Dynatec 2000i on my Evo 1987 and I have 5 Ohms Dyna Coil. Can I Connect it with this Coil ?? Thank You
I am not sure on this one. I would reach out to Dynatec, their customer service was great when I reached out.
I have the same control arms on mine. 😎
Thuren Fab makes some quality stuff 👍
How long was your replacement bolts for the foot peg my bike came with new forward controls but the holes on the primary are empty and I need the bolts
Are you asking about the bolts for where the mid controls used to be? I didn't replace them, I just left the original ones in place
Which way should I turn wrench to put back in two wheel drive?
was doing this today and got to about the positive starter cable? is it a 15mm? it’s suck a damn pain and i don’t wanna round it off
Going to do this to my 2012, but i am going to coat with raptor liner, front and back.
Coating the concave part towards the from of the truck is probably a good idea. That part catching and holding salt and debris is what caused the rust in the first place.
PS: you DO know that you can purchase new keystone bars that are internal wiring ready for like $80 bucks right? That way you won't sheer off the casings and ground out your wires after fishing them through a drill hole. But hey whatta I know, only been working on hogs for 31yrs
No actually I didn't know that, can you share the link to those? I never claimed to be an expert here, this is my first time doing this type of build. I am just building my bike and sharing the progress along the way. Always happy to hear tips and criticism from people who know more than me. Thanks for watching!
