Nice build dude! I am building a 92 sportster with actually the same logo on the tank as you do. Will be checking your video's for ideas! The M unit is awesome, already did a suzuki build with it, it really adds great features to an otherwise simple bike. The one thing i would do again though, is get the Blue one (i had the standard), The blue one has so much more to offer.
Thanks! This is my first time building with an M-unit but seems like a great addition to any build. I debated between the blue and the standard for a while before purchasing, I am glad to hear I made the right call. Thanks for watching and good luck with your build!
I have a 1998 fatboy with an evo second gen . So all you need it’s that unit and the coil , you just disconnect the oem module under the seat ? Do you have to bypass any of the original wiring from the Oem module . “Not the ignition pick up down in the engine that gets discarded .
Man I’m happy that your making the sportster videos. I’m new to riding on the street as I’ve always ridin on dirt and trails and I bought a very clean 93 sportster 90th anniversary. I’ve been needing ideas on how to make it into a bobber style bike. When I do the rear fender, can I buy shorter fender struts or mounts if you will so I don’t have to cut the originals as they are super clean?
Thanks for watching! I started out on the trails as well! I haven't had much luck locating shorter struts for the 93, most are for 94+ bikes. If yours are too clean to cut up, you could find some beat up used ones to chop and clean up or try and make something custom. If your only riding solo, you might be able to remove the strut altogether.
5:20 there is one white wire that is going from the coil to +12V. Where did you connect that to? I have a 92 Sportster with a M-Unit and I now bought the ignition. But Im not sure where to connect that white wire. Can you help? Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪
I believe I connected the +12V to the 'Ignition' output on the Munit. Next time I am out there I will double check and let you know. Thanks for watching!
So what do you do with the hole on the bottom towards the front?? I think it’s lined up in the cover w/the #4 cam front exhaust. Does Oil drip out of that hole in the cover or is that a breather hole or something thats cast in the cover?? I’ve seen vids where people Tig weld that hole up. Why? What’s it for. Does it affect anything cutting cover down & leaving hole on bottom of cover unplugged and open?
Yes, this hole will leak oil if it isn't plugged. From the factory there is a press fit plug in there that gets cut off with this modification. In another video I tap and plug it. I don't know what it is originally there for, I'm guessing it helps with something during the manufacturing process.
Any chance you could send me a picture of that white paper you showed with wiring directions on it. Bought a 93 with the dyna installed on side cover but was never wired in!! Could really use it. Never got the box
I wasn't sure how to send it to you, but I did some googling and found a copy here: www.wwag.com/step/pdf/123271.pdf Hope this helps! Good luck with the bike!
Having a no spark issue on my 96 with 1275 with Dynatek 2000i, I'm curious if the issue is caused by the ignition module under the seat but I honestly can't remember if the Dynatek ignition essentially makes that stock module obsolete or not.
The Dynatek 2000i module is compete ignition unit, the stock unit should be removed when using it. Let me know how you like the 1275 kit, I would love to do one in the future
@@cheesingarage figured out the issue. Yes the Dyna is completely separate from the stock module. The 1275 is awesome. I paired mine with a Mikuni 42. Worth every penny!
I believe the ignition I have will work with any of the carbureted evo engines - 1970 to 1999. Dynatek has good customer support, if you reach out to them, I am sure they can confirm before you purchase.
Just got a ‘98 and want to bump up the revolutions to about 7500-8000. Does this work with what I’m trying to do to mine? I’d hate to purchase something that wouldn’t work.
Based on the manual, the rev limiter is adjustable in these increments - 6000, 6500, 7000, and 7500. Out of curiosity, what are you building that you are looking for it to rev that high?
@@cheesingarage factory‘98 Sportster 1200. Looking to install some .515 feuling cams, the dynatek 200i, intake and exhaust, maybe a mikuni, but Gad prices might have me not really going that route, with the mikuni.
The 2 post coils are dual fire or wasted spark, meaning that both plugs fire at the same time. However, one cylinder wont be on the compression stroke so it is 'wasted'. The 3 post coils are for single fire, where only one spark plug fires at a time.

Super helpful. Currently doing cams and high compression top end rebuild and researching ignition mods on my 91. 🤘 2000-i it is in my case.
Good luck with the build! Glad this was helpful!
Love these ,I also like the 'tattle tail' option!
Its getting there man , be glad when my arts come in , lol
Thanks! Looking forward to seeing it!
Great videos man! love watching them. Been rebuilding my 95'sportster aswell great information in these video's :)
Glad you like them! Thanks for watching and good luck with your build!

Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching!

Do you have to run the spark plug wires crossed like that with the stock dual fire coil
With dual fire they can be run however you want because they fire together. I just liked the crossed look
@@cheesingarage thank you.
do i need to back that rotor cup out to get to align with the back of the 2000i?
You don't need to if you are just doing the 2000i install. I had mine out because I removed the entire cam cover to modify it.

No machine screw necessary . Just ditch the five cover the standoffs are in there just vertical.
That's true, without the '5' you could just rotate it 90 degrees. Thanks for the info!
Hi! I want instal this Dynatec 2000i on my Evo 1987 and I have 5 Ohms Dyna Coil. Can I Connect it with this Coil ?? Thank You
