    My first camera was purchased for my graduation present at Peterborough camera shop. I believe it’s a Pentax K1000? I still have it. I don’t have any way of loading photos from my expensive camera anymore. I only have a iPad but actually my cell phone is pretty sweet to taking photos. I probably could use it a few photos without big set up. This is great thank you

    I remember my third grade teacher Mrs. Kaye. Our whole class loved her so much at the end of the year we all stood on line so we could kiss her goodbye! She also read to us and taught us about the world around us and our little town too. We did plays and puppet shows with her, so much fun. She read us Charlotte’s Web and Stuart Little!

      Mrs. Hardwick read us those same two books as well! Probably standard fare for that age group at that time-- but having a teacher read to us; life changing! Do they still do that? Or is there no time allotted in their lesson plan protocols dictated by administrators? Education sure has changed. I'm so glad I went to school when, and where, I did!

    What a great piece, Scott. You really caught the nature of sitting by a fire. I had never really thought about it before but now I see that you are spot on. It also made me recollect the many fires we have sat around. The one that is probably my favorite was the time we went camping up around Winn & Rose mountains in Lyndeborough, looking for the Pinnacle Rock (or whatever it was called). That night it poured and we could not get any sleep in the tent so we built a fire around midnight or so and stayed up the rest of the night eating ravioli and laughing about whatever crossed our minds. Those were good times. Thanks Scott!

      Thanks! Those were awesome times, my friend! This one was a lot of work; getting that voice-over track to line up with video, and not "talk over" the talking at the end of the vid (first voice-over vid). The thing that sticks out in my mind the most about that trip in Lyndeborough is being so cold that I kept hallucinating-- I kept hearing a Jeep approaching, and even saw "headlights" through the tent wall. That stupid "space blanket!" 🤣🤣🤣

    That's what had happened to my Washburn some years ago. I was fortunate to get it repaired in such a way that it lasted several more years. • @ScottatPorchPulse
      @ScottatPorchPulse 6 місяців тому

      Thanks, Joe! And yeah, often when a repair of this nature is made, because of the catastrophic aspects of the cross-grain fracturing, one repair is about all you get. If it breaks again... well, I've never been asked to do a second repair, but I'm assuming it would have marginal chances of success, at best. But if I ever get a chance to do a secondary head stock repair, I'll take it and give it a shot, just for you! See if I can come up with a creative solution!

    Sanding polls screens? Interesting video. I like the pony tail too…🤗

    • @ScottatPorchPulse
      @ScottatPorchPulse 6 місяців тому

      Yes... same stuff as for sanding poles! I find it helpful in reducing clogging when sanding between layers of lacquer that haven't quite cured fully (I like to give a full week at least, preferably two, to cure). I can do a high grit (320 or above) sanding of a surface DRIED but not yet cured, but occasionally it gobs up if the sanding generates too much heat. Wet sanding solves that, but sometimes I use the mesh-- the "ventilation" provided alleviates heat build up, but because it's more rigid, I can use it on areas where, as layers are added, it starts to "pool," causing high spots. It takes down the high spots nicely, without having to use a block and sand a bigger area. And yes, the hair is getting long enough that to do any work, I need to tie it back!

      Years later, when I was a cop, I developed a technique to practice the same thing-- I found that as cars come toward me at night, there's a split second (depending on speed) where the car is close enough to you that you're not staring into the headlights, but it's still close enough to catch the briefest of glimpses of the number plate. Probably in large part due to Mr. Aldrich, I rather easily got to a point where I could read the entire front number plate of a car at night, passing me in the opposite direction! I still do it once in a while, just for fun!
