The Pilot Episode of the Improv Project, where things are, that weren't there before.
The Improv Project is me sitting down with a guitar, and creating music with no previous planning, to demonstrate the way music is born, when we allow the mind to flow. This is the first video of many in this playlist, so subscribe to catch the new uploads :) If I reach 1000 subscribers, I guess I could begin running some live sessions down the line. "improv concerts etc".

    Thank you 🙏❤ theguywithabow ❤ for your 🐷 Ren - Insomnia reaction! #ren #demosvoltwo #insomnia Treat your insomnia: Decide when you want to sleep. Prepare for bed. Take out all distractions. Get comfy in your second-most comfortable sleeping position. If you find your thoughts are having a party, take the back seat and watch them. Find the nice, friendly and light thoughts, and invite them to stay. Tell the heavy and difficult thoughts, that you will give them your full attention once you are fully rested - because they deserve your best and full attention. Once you will be rested, you will be able to deal with all that and stay on top. That's why for now they have to let the light thoughts have the field. After a while, you will feel that you're falling asleep. Turn into your best sleeping position and get the rest you need. Should you awake in the night with the heavy thoughts knocking, repeat. It is no trick, you will manage when rested, so first you rest, you sleep. It takes a little practice, but the effects are visible in a week (with what I have experienced and seen with others).

    Your music is so soothing. I wish you would put out more of your busking. I don’t understand how you can improvise, I know nothing about music theory and I can’t sing, play any instrument or read notes. I often hear music playing in my head but I would never know how to transform it into reality.

    It would be interesting to hear your breakdown of Precious. It's an earlier song that Ren did with The Big Push, which was the band he was in just before he went to Canada for treatment. P.S. If I could suggest that you show the whole frame of Ren's videos. They are so well crafted, and just like the music, I don't think any part is unintentional. If you shrink the size of the video, and show yourself next to this, we can see both the whole frame, and your reaction simultaneously. It's just an idea, thanks.

    New subscriber here! Beautiful breakdown of the music. From interviews, Ren said that Yamaha not only agreed for Ren & crew to use this beautiful piano, but Yamaha delivered the piano and tuned it for them as well. Ren also said that every time Ren & Charlie had a break or some free time during setup, they would play this beautiful instrument because they just loved how it sounded. I mean, what’s not to love?❤️

    Hi Dean! This is a remarkable unpacking of one of my favorite songs. I'm working on a Reaction Concert to Crutch and I'd love to incorporate your reaction. Do you mind if I do that? I'm trying to create the concerts in such a way that they promote the featured reaction channels, but I also respect y'all way too much to want to make you angry or feel used. Right now I'm: (1) putting your channel name on the video whenever you speak so people can find you, (2) creating a youtube playlist with all the reactions used in a concert, and (3) shouting out prominently used reactions in the description field. Please see my channel if you want to get a sense of what I'm doing (click my user name to access channel). Thank you for your consideration!

    My first thought seeing "Ren the Manipulator" was "looks like clickbait". Someone who manipulates others is, in typical English usage, doing it for selfish reasons, and I mean "selfish" in a negative way. It sounds like a pejorative at first, so it's good that you insist you don't mean it that way. (While instinctively, I don't like feeling manipulated.) This was the first reaction of yours that I've seen. I appreciate you interpretations, even if some of mine are different.

    I believe he is showing the experience of medical and medication manipulation, have you ever worked with anyone who has been in a psychiatric ward and experienced being mismedicated? The effects he uses in this song give a good glimpse into that world. I appreciate you criticism, but believe his production was to convey a very frustrating personal experience…he did a great job on this song and it’s message. Does that mean that he is tricking us? interesting way to convey your breakdown message.

    • @theguywithabow
      @theguywithabow Місяць тому

      I wasn't criticising at all. Using music to influence how we feel is a good thing. Manipulation in this instance is not a negative thing. I do understand that the word does make people react in a certain way. I'm a huge Ren fan.

    Agreed. His song-writing and production are amazing. I love your breakdown, especially your interpretative dance! 😊This whole album, Demos Volume 2, just blows me away! Ren had experienced years of excruciating pain and fatigue… with no answers. You can here his despair in his haunting vocals. Even when he finally got the diagnosis of Lyme, years later he is still battling the ravages of the disease. I wondered if you have heard his sing, “Pocket Full of Pain” - There is no video, but it is an incredible song, worthy of more attention. 💔❤️‍🩹❤️

    Hola. New sub here. Thank you for showcasing Ren’s lesser known songs. This one is a favorite of mine. I enjoyed your knowledgeable commentary. You are on the right track I believe, about the humor. Ren seems very meticulous in producing his songs and doesn’t shy away from inserting his dark and wicked sense of humor in even his heaviest material. I love how you explained all the brilliant layers of this song. He sounds tortured at times and the music and his layered voice really convey what it must feel like on the drug. I’ll be sure to check out your other videos. 💔❤️‍🩹❤️

    Given this song is a bit of a favourite, I had another listen to your reaction, just to catch things I might have missed. This is a great illustration of REN’s mixing abilities, and it shows in the way he treats each line, fading the music, or bringing it forward, providing lots of variety to sustain interest. Yes, Ren is manipulating us, just like every other artist has throughout time. Most just stick to happy and sad, but Ren manipulates us through, as you say, a whole rollercoaster of emotions. Saddness, happiness, anger, anxiety, confusion, contempt... there are 27 of them, and Ren seems intent on making us regularly feel them all. Genius level artist and storyteller.

    • @liellen1997
      @liellen1997 22 дні тому

      I think manipulation sounds a little harsh, at least to me. Manipulation is strictly negative-it means control, domination, exploitation, coercion, deception and trickery. Thank you Wikipedia!! He holds our complete attention, as he can do both-fascinate and mesmerize us. That is what makes him a lyrical genius.

    • @daphneparkin6869

      Not sure I agree that Ren is manipulating us "on purpose", he's instinctively creating great sounds that express his feelings to great effect. If you listen to his interviews where he talks about music creation, he places greater importance on expressing his emotions than on artistic perfection. I've no doubt he's manipulating production to express his feelings and he's been creating music since he was 10 years old so he knows his stuff. If he's a technical expert at reflecting his feelings it follows that we are going to be affected emotionally, subject to each listener's vulnerabilities; we'll all be affected in different ways according to our experiences.
