    Hi Dean , you also blew my mind that you spotted those 1974 guitars and went to the trouble to research them. But your right if he did that it’s beyond perfectionist. It’s insane commitment to everything he does Thanks for your amazingly uncut full reactions. I am loving them. Best

    Creating the drum and bass rhythm discussion was illuminating. Heck, everything dissected is fascinating. As a listener, we can pick up that there's something special but not necessarily know what it is. Here, we learn from our professor some of the specifics and I find this delightful.
    Chris Liepe is the vocal coach reactor mentioned.

    Starts with an instrumental of the Police followed with Smokey Robinson, inserts Custom rap, ends with Sting of the police. You caught a lot for your listen that shows the genius of Ren.

    I just watched a bts of Ren mixing these live sessions. He loves doing production he went through all the EQ and Reverb add ons he used. It was fascinating.

    Your level of detail is amazing. I am fascinated by the "way" you listen and dissect music. Fantastic education for those of us who simply like what we listen to but without much understanding. Thank you so very much!

    The original song is not from 1974. It was released at the end of 2023.
    If I’m not mistaken, it is not even about 1974, it’s about an address. But Ren turned it into nostalgia and the year 1974.
    I am so glad that I found your channel. You bring something different to the table.
    I really appreciate these musical break downs. I’m a person who listens so hard to the lyrics that I almost perceive the music as a homogen wall. You help me to hear, understand and appreciate all the little intricasies in that ”wall”.
    Thank you!

    9:08, that's his 1995 Japanese Fender Telecaster with sunburst finish, which he's had for years and uses all the time as his favorite electric guitar. He's also had that Fender Precision bass for years. Please check countless videos with The Big Push to see these two guitars used repeatedly for the past few years.

    Rens had that bass and tele for years. The tele is a 1995 Japanese Fender, the bass is a Fender Precision Bass.
    The song is actually about a fictional address but he switched it up to make it about a year too.

    First let me say I know next to nothing about guitars. I do, though, absolutely believe that Ren would pay attention to that kind of detail & appreciated your explanation. Then, just a few minutes later, still watching Ren/Big Push videos, I thought I saw both guitars again - Ren playing the 1974 & Gorran playing the 1960. So I scrolled thru the pictures of Big Push videos & I think they show up again & again.

      @theguywithabow  10 місяців тому +5

      Yep! It seems I missed that fact...so it's fun having multiple hard core Renegades putting me in my place :) I'm going to claim that both are at least vintage replicas to save face :)

    Interesting about the guitars, but I was thinking REN’s was his favourite Japanese Fender Telecaster he used a lot in the Big Push. Is it a coincidence?

    Good one re the pickup hit - how the hell did I miss that!!
    Not sure re the 74 guitar thingy as back on 74 refers to a place rather than a time. Could well be right tho …

    • @theguywithabow
      @theguywithabow  10 місяців тому +2

      Apparently Ren made it more "time" although the original is apparently "place". ...and I've been corrected on the guitar ACTUALLY being his 1995 Japanese tele ....but I'm sure it's based on the early models, soooo, I'm taking that as a pass lol.👍

    About 74 (guitars, song, etc.) : The song is not from 1974, but 2023. Similarly, the song doesn't reference 1974 at all. It's intentionally ambiguous about what 74 is. Highway 74? 74th Street? Independence day? who knows?

    • @theguywithabow
      @theguywithabow  10 місяців тому +1

      Yea. I think the backing vocalists, music style etc are very retro..so maybe it's about driving Highway 74 in 1974 lol

    I am not so sure those are actually vintage guitars. Fender has never stopped making the Telecaster and Precision Bass since they were introduced (1950, 1951 respectively - though the Telecaster was first known as the Broadcaster and then the Nocaster). Tobacco sunburst is one of the colors that is almost always in rotation for fender finishes. Also, Ren has owned those guitars for years. He can be seen playing them during his The Big Push years.
    Those could both have very modern appointments, or they could have vintage appointments if they are newer. My guess is they are not that vintage, because Ren probably wouldn't have had the resources to buy true vintage instruments. I think I remember him saying the Telecaster was an American model (versus Japanese or Mexican), but that might be memories mixed in my head. Either way, I believe neither the guitar nor bass are over 20 years old.
    Even the picture of the bass that you showed is not actually a 1960. The American Vintage II series is a current production line (only a few years old, newer than Ren's bass would be). They are based roughly on vintage specs, but they are not exact. Fender always leaves room for the next line of "vintage" guitars to be more period correct. They's had many models based on vintage specs over the years. Most recently the American Originals, American Vintage, American Original II and American Vintage II. But those four lines only go back to 1982. Other models, like the new American Professional series has more modern appointments, but they look the same unless you know what to look for. They also come in Tobacco Sunburst.
    That being said, even if they aren't actually vintage instruments, nor have vintage specs, they look the part.

      Yup......someone corrected me in the comments and you are certainly correct :) I'll play it safe and say that at least he chose instruments that looked the part...:)

      @@theguywithabow It's not really a big deal. It's easy to see how one might come to that conclusion without having background knowledge.
