Like all good Cafés the Motorcycle Café menu has plenty of variety. The channel includes pretty much anything motorcycle related, from well researched motorcycle documentaries to information on road bike maintenance, bike trailers, trikes and sidecars plus some other non-serious videos just for a bit of fun!

The BMW R100 RS. Is it the Worlds Best Motorcycle?
Great video! I was in my late teens and early twenties during the 1980s. Cutting my teeth when I was 13 years old with my first clapped out DT100. Went on to own a number of bikes of all different flavours but recall the RZ500 I bought in 1985 as "the one that got away". I still have very fond memories of my 84 FJ1100 with my friends all driving bikes like the Interceptor, Magna, RZ's, Ninjas and all the other amazing bikes of the era. It was a great time to be alive and to know how most of these bikes made their mark on the industry is something special. Cheers.
@@KensWorldRestorations the thing is modern bikes are not really much better, performance wise.
@@motorcyclecafe True - only a handful of the high-end bikes are but then only manageable with rider aids. These bikes were definitely the greats.
Another trip down memory lane, especially with the first two. Thanks for your efforts.. Notice you got up out of that chair pretty easily mate, no hard core bang ups (im just jealous)..
@@chris_vk3cae that was a good day 😉
4 n rode a few others, loved the Zeds despite the near death experiences..
And if it wasn't for the Treaty of Versailles it may never have been made.
Now this is my era of sport bikes! The ZXR750 H2 is my favourite bike in my small collection.. I also have a ‘99 Fireblade, ‘91 VFR750 RC36, ‘91 CBR1000F, ‘01 ZX12R, ‘98 GSXR750 SRAD & ‘99 Suzuki TLR 😊👍🏼
@@waynester71 that is quite a collection buddy
An interesting set of opinions, not necessarily factual. Nonetheless, thanks for putting in the work to share them with "the great unwashed".
@@-MacCat- yes buddy just my opinions but correct as far as I am concerned
Her name is "Mimie", she was bad and is now confined to the garage. Actually it was me.
Seriously is there some reason you never mention Lil Indian Minibikes, i had one in the 70s & rode the wheels off it. Extremely fun. This was fun to watch & i learned a few things i didn't know.
@@paullevine1813 from memory I think I mentioned these in the channels video "Harley vs Indian" the history around Indian at that time was bizarre to say the least. That video is a real eye opener!
Poor selection. Missed lots of good bikes from the era. The Yamaha XS750 D was superseded by the E model, which I owned. great bike but did have 2nd gear issue if you rode it like you stole it. Which I did... Easy fix however, which I only found out long after I traded it in for the mighty XS1100...
@@user-wl9wq7xj7i I suppose I did miss a lot seeing as I only had 4 min !
I have a Honda CB 360 1976...
Yamaha 1100 Maxim. Unbeatable.
I cried when I passed on my GPZ900R. It was devastating for me. I couldn't take more than two bikes when I moved. I kept the "more reliable because it's newer" TL.... That didn't work out.... The RGV at the end of the video looks a bit special. Nice upgrades to f & r suspension, as well as the exhaust. I went from an RGV M to the GPZ9. That was an interesting transition from no engine braking and scalectrics handling, to immense engine braking and handling like a fat bird covered in washing up liquid
@@StoffelDilligas in my opinion the original gpz was and still is one of the best bikes ever made!
Come on man!! Only 4 stars for the Honda CB750/4????? If you can't score the original superbike 10 out of 10, I need to find another channel.
@@Kysushanz the stars were just for a bit of fun , my ratings on bikes I've owned or ridden nothing more. The stars only went to 5, so 4 is pretty good.😉
Don't forget the Yamaha RZ350. She may be small, but she definitely had a chip on her shoulder. 😅
@@samgrabenhorst6297 yep for sure it was an awesome machine. I've covered the liquid cooled RD previously. Cheers

Just the Norton Commando. I have an early Sportster (63) . This guy I met said take out my Norton if you think that sportster is quick. He wasn’t joking ‼️
I did a bit on those older sportsters in a previous video "The Big Bikes of the 1960s" the results may surprise even you. 😉
Looks awesome
Superfun and dangerous. Had to be in shape. Hard on hands and forearms.
We drove 750's. We knew our limits and put lots of hours in..Short frame 750 most dangerous and fun. Could wheelie in 3rd. Massive burnouts in 2nd as well.
Never seen those red ones before
You had to be prepared for many different scenarios on these triples or else.
Wow. That red one is awesome
Novice riders died on them
Yes thats right Novice Riders, riders which should not have even been riding such machines. Thats why I produced the video. Cheers.
Here we go
Where are the Triumphs? I had a 1970, 650 Triumph Trophy, best bike I ever had.😊
@@willg54 just not enough room buddy. I have covered quite a few triumphs in other videos on the channel. Love the late 60s Bonnie!
I had the 1978 Yamaha RD400E.
Best UJM - Honda 750 (700) Nighthawk S
I still have my beautiful 1981 Honda CB900-F2 BOLD'OR and it rides just like new. People love having their photo taken beside it!
@@dogman129 yep they are a very nice looking bike. Good on you for keeping it so long.
Loooooove the Z900
Hmm tempting until I start thinking about PARTS availability and shops willing to work on em? Then there is finding a really nice low mile example where the problem often is the thing sat too long and now need carbs gone through. I appreciate however all the folks that patiently overcome the potential downsides and are able to enjoy such....I just dont see it being myself
I’ve had most of them over the years, to me yam virago 750 se was the most enjoyable.👍🏴

My first bike yamaha xs 360 .
@@marcwagner9369 from memory they had the squarish shaped tank like the RD 400 didn't they?
Although the modern motorcycle era was birthed in the 1960s, the 1970s was the first full decade of that wonderful transition time and very much like the late '50s and early '60s was to the golden performance age of the American automobile...It was an incredible time to be young and in love with motorized vehicles, my bike of choice was the 'old fashioned' Norton Commando, although I enjoyed others.
Great video and collection of great bikes thanks for taking me back to my youth. Mate tell you what for AI you look very much alive to me. Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Excellent choice for the first bike. The original Ninja.
Still good even by todays standards
Nice! I had the Virago 1100, great bike for its time… smooth and comfortable!

I've got an 82 VF750C Magna with about 45,000 kms( 28,000 miles) on the clock. Low kms because it was an American import back in 2011 and when I got it four years ago it only had done about 13,000 miles( 21.000 kms) it still had the US speedo on it. I've had to replace it since to one that's in kms hence the way the distances are stated. Besides from the tiny main tank it's great.
@@davidrochow9382 I have covered those in more detail in a previous video. A few more horsepower and it may have been the 1st muscle bike. Their performance was very good, especially for a 750.
I recently got 2 1981,2 basket case 750 virago. I like the air cooled 55 HP shaft Dr. Mono shock looks like a hardtail.
@@richarddodds9326 yes it was very new back then. They went back to dual shocks on latee model, I'm not sure why. Those early 750s are very good bikes! Better than the later ones, in my opinion.
Well put together although a little misleading at the beginning concerning the first motordromes. Harley never competed in the steep short versions or so called ‘murderdromes’, they started competing later in the longer, flatter board tracks. Excelsior was Indians rival in the murderdromes.
@@glennb9535 thanks my research at the time was correct and pedantic. But who really knows for sure? Appreciate the feedback buddy, very much so. Cheers!
What no Bultaco, had a 175 induro, loads of fun.

I had a 73 Penton 125 six day trial motocross...That Sachs motor was a bitch to start and the transmission had to be shifted perfectly but when it was running good it was unbeatable!!!
Loved my ZX7R.
Ok ,you finally mentioned some dirt bikes at the end . There were a LOT of great MX and enduro bikes back then. Maico,CZ Jawa, CanAM Honda Elsinore……

I had a 1973 Yamaha 750 and it was a mess to deal with. I then got a 1973 Z1 Kawasaki and it was great. I sold it in 1995 and have regreted it ever since. Didn't want my sons to ride until adults. The Z1 was fast for the time and my top speed on it was 145 mph on a closed portion of I-10. I know own a 2007 Kawasaki Z1000 and a 2009 Concours. Love the Kawasaki in-line 4.
