Very good video, love the way you present your trait information, and I have more than 2000 hours on this game on Steam, and god knows how many on he original I thought I knew just about everything, but today I had a problem with a religious merchant in the crusade campaign - literally the first time I had come across this - and I found the answer here !! awesome...still learning stuff...

Thanks for your detailed research and clear explanations! In my current campaign, I don't have any merchants left "alive" because they all bravely sacrificed their businesses trying to acquire other merchants' acquisitions. Despite this, the income tab indicates that I'm still earning approx. 450 florins per turn from "Merchant Trade". How does this work? Is it possible that items you've "traded" before remain under your control (and earning you income) even after your merchant has left? I've also heard rumours of a "monopoly" mechanic whereby trading more than one instance of the same item in the same region earns you a bonus income

This game is a gem and it's aging like fine wine. It has so many fun game mechanics. I really hope there will be some remake to remove some bugs, the tendency of the game to crash and slightly improve the AI.

play dis game bacc in 2k07-2k09 Im now 29. I always know it that we can change capital, played as british just my name Edward(the Black Prince) but Im Indonesian. moving London to mid eu somewhere I forgot exact city name and see how corruption goes down. but as well as other like trading, merchant income all 3 are getting tweaked as well nothing stay as it was. I always know that finnance surpass 10 will result in further more monies but dunno exact formula as Im still kids dunno programming language or some kind of such thing growing maturer I find databases and codes it fit to how my expectaton of generally this game's hidden exact formula mechanism so well, patience is the key

Saw this (by the way AMAZING) guide and decided not to ever recruit a single merchant and instead focus on other things in the game. Shame I didn't do my research back when I actually used to recruit merchants. Would've been hella helpful.

I've always used spies as an offensive weapon in attrition wars. If you are fortunate enough to be blessed with a plagued settlement early game, you can give your assassins the plague and send them to infect enemy settlements and armies. Keep the plague alive and you have the perfect weapon. Biological warfare. Playing as Russia, this strategy kept me alive against the Mongol hordes.

I think I know why this mission arrives : it is when an high value princess is in the same region like an unmaried general

I didn't hear it mentioned about the incorrect accounting in the game, princess spends 250 gold per turn, but doesn't write it. Each admiral-50 gold per turn.

I can see why Legend of Total War never bothers with Merchants. They seem to be much more trouble than they're worth.
