Steve Allen, the Original Host of the Tonight Show SD 480p
Переглядів 8333 роки тому
After three years of doing his own television shows for CBS in New York, Steve Allen started the Tonight Show on NBC on September 27, 1954. He was given to "dead" air time between 11:30 pm and 1:00 am. No one watched TV in the US at that time because there was nothing to watch. In a short time, Steve had over 3 million nightly viewers across the country watching him live 5 nights a week. He pio...

David Allen Remembered
Переглядів 8214 роки тому
David Allen, to some a Brother, Uncle, Cousin or Friend passed away February 15th. He was smart, funny, musically talented, and deeply compassionate. He had some serious struggles in life and I know he had love, joy, many good friends, and some great experiences over the years. He was special. He'll be missed. May he rest in peace. He deserves it.

Will you have the Steve Allen show from July 13, 1964? Antonio Carlos Jobim appears, we would love to hear his presentation
Wow, beautiful videos of the ranch! I used to visit in the early 80s, stay at Certain's...
I scrubbed thousand of diapers at the ranch &never had any children there ,i served.
slay little cult
my sister and i love this!
Adorable Brian.
I met some of the family in Hawaii in 1975, then went to Seattle for a "gathering", but ended up at the ranch. It was an interesting experience for me, except giving them all my worldly belongings wasn't a good idea, since they were heirlooms, and it hurt my grandmother greatly. I wonder what ever happened to Honor? He was living at the ranch then.
REST IN PEACE TOMMY SMOTHERS, REST IN PEACE TRUE SLAPSTICK COMEDY IN HEAVEN!!!
Proof that there is time travel is Tommy Smothers doing a wonderful impersonation of Donald Trump at a rally.
Wow... some potent memories of days gone by. Hope your family is well. Always loved your father...he seemed a truly good hearted man.*
First Smothers Brothers impersonation I ever saw. They nailed it.

Can you imagine how it was back then, when it wasn’t for TV, celebrity friends would actually have parties and their celebrity friends would actually entertain. Every house had a piano and they would stand or sit around and sing. What a time it was. I’m sure the Allen brothers have great stories to tell. In any case, I’ve been gobbling up every bit of Smothers Brothers I can find and this was such a treat to see Steve, Jayne, the Allen kids and Tom and Dick. Such memories. Steve’s laugh should have been trademarked!
What a treat to see that again. I never realized what good musicians they were. And for some reason, we still laugh at Tom's fumbling. Thanks Brian, my brother and I had to sing that song at our parents' party, too.
God blessthe Smothers Brothers and the joy they brought to life.
was tim conway referred to as tom conway?
This aired while McHale's Navy was still on the air and he was Tim then- I think the announcer,, or whomever wrote his script, made a boo-boo!
@@debrabrabenec3731 i looked it up. tim is tom and had to change his stage name because there was a brit actor who was tom conway. tim is funnier rip....that man was a comedic genius
You know, when Tommy went into his monologue, I would have sworn I was listening to a Kamala Harris speech.
they must have been funny at the time but funny no more.
RIP Tommy Smothers, who just a few days ago passed away in his beloved Sonoma County, California. I would see him occasionally as a guest at the Christmas show in the ice rink Charles Schulz built in 1969, known as Snoopy's Home Ice. There are beginnings and endings and all that happens in between.
No sound
No sound?
didnt know when i was little
they are really good singers aswell as funny
Professor, not everyone is as smart as you are. Calm down. There is nothing wrong with Brian Allen except he can't read the opening shot that says this is the 1963 Christmas Show.
Simon
LOL The title shot says this is the 1963 Christmas show...
It's 61.😢
Their name was "Smothers" NOT "Smother's". Who do you know has an apostrophe in his name? What the hell is wrong with you?
Oh this made me laugh SO hard ! I'm usually the one who points out errors, and then someone says "Oh they probably did that just to make you look" LOL
"Who do you know has an apostrophe in his name? " Ryan O'Neal. Sinead O'Connor. Shaquille O'Neal. Scarlett O'Hara (fictional). O'Hare Airport. Mrs. O'Leary (who owned a cow in Chicago). Conan O'Brien.
@@hobonickel Smothers O'Brothers
@@dianamarie5663 Yeah, them too.
Great early clip of them. And listen to their harmony and ability to be together (like the Everly Bros and the Bee Gees, other brother groups). And watch how Tommy breaks away and yet can come back spot on. They'd begun performing in 1959 in San Fran.
Steve Allen was the very first host of the Tonight Show. Godspeed, Tommy, wherever you are.
But you do know that he had a show called "The Steve Allen Show" and this was a special episode of that show?
@@emmgeevideo Indeed I do. One of my favorite gags was when he would ask the audience for nouns and verbs and include them in a skit. Very funny stuff. Steve Allen had a very quick wit. So long ago. Happy new year!
not only that, but many of the bits done by david letterman were first done by allen
@@emmgeevideo I remember. Steve was an absolute scream with his show too. I wished his show would have lasted - I remember Don Knotts, the man out in the street. Love him.
I remember the Smothers Brothers, the boys captured them perfectly 💖 Very cute and sweet. Who's the girl in the portrait behind everyone?
Very cool thanks for sharing
So cute, who knew how talented you were.

For a rainbow family there seems to be allot of white people🤣🧘♀️
So sweet! Love this!💝
Lovevto hear him in his homeland
I was blessed to visit the Love Family through a childhood Friend from New York. ❤️
Hey Brian, Could you fill in a little bit of the history of the crew at the party in Tucson? Are those the people who were part of the love family? Just trying to get a perspective on the video.
Has a Rainbow Family Gathering feel.
What a magical vision the Love Family manifested. Thanks Brian for compiling this and all who contributed.
The only thing more costly than all the cocaine that went up Love's nose is the collective therapy bill of the kids who grew up on that godforsaken "ranch" after the split. You can sit around and feel nostalgic about your wild and free youthful days in Arlington, but what of the children you forgot? You have all forsaken them.
