Greetings from Hungary. This MRE actually contains canned food that is available in normal commercial stores, cheap and of rather poor quality. Although Hungarian gastronomy was quite ruined by forty years of communism, and in many households and restaurants today, the standardized and rather narrowed food selection under communism, and quantitative nutrition are still the norm instead of seeking quality, these meals, prepared at home, with a little attention and from better quality ingredients (e.g. not mechanically separated "meat" from bones), are much better than these canned foods. Hungarian soldiers refer to the food package as the Brown Death, and they avoid it if possible.

Hey Jerms! Wow what an improvement over the last Ukraine ration! This one looked good. That soup especially looked delicious. Maybe they put crackers in every meal for the troops to snack on while the mains are heated. Great job once again! The 24 hour rations are always my favorites to watch. Also I think Ration Kitty is developing a following 😆

Hey Jerms! Sorry it has been awhile. I've been super busy haven't had much time to do much at all! So that Ebay seller you mentioned is where I got almost all my international rations from. He is legit. The rations are not only sent intact because they are already in the US, but they are in great condition and usually brand new. He often explicitly states the expiration dates or has pictures of them on the ration, so you know exactly what you are getting. I recommend this seller to anyone looking for international rations. I did risk a few overseas ones and they all came intact! I got a REAL banger recently for pretty cheap too! I got a German Einmannpack! Can't wait to try that one out! I've been trying a bunch of international rations and they all have a similar "home cooked" taste about them. It's not that they taste like something different, it's like there is something *missing*. probably some preservatives that I am used to from US MREs. They just taste more real. I love all the drinks and accessories that come with most of the 24 hour rations. My absolute favorite was the British ORP 24 hour. The French RCIR was actually disappointing. The mains were really good, but that was it. The crackers (biscuits) sucked. And it only came with coffee and tea. No sports drinks. That canned cheese was way too strong and sharp. The Canadian IMP was good, but not as good as many people seem to make it. It was just fine. Many US MREs are just as good if not better. I have both a Ukranian ration and a Kazakhstan 24 hour ration I am going to try next. But the ration that blew me away was the PLA (Chinese) army ration. The one in the dark green bags. It was SO GOOD! Really it is just a main and rice with quail eggs and soup. But super filling and the taste was out of this world. Anyway, good to see more ration reviews! Keep it up!

Imho its more a pizza flavoured wheat snack bread. I did not really like it.

It seems like the meat on russian rations is a real hit or miss, sometimes its great sometimes its more like dog food.

That ration has had to be stored in a colder climate don't you think? 10 years-old and not a single bad item. Thanks for the review Jerms.

I am one of those people that loves the gamey flavour that lamb, or better yet, Mutton brings. I grew up with it, but so did my brother, and he hates it too. I usually don't mind any game unless it got that very strong urine kind of smell that old male Moose sometimes get. I am not a fan of really strong pork flavours though. Great review Jerms, thanks. Very excited about this one. Interesting stuff considering what goes on over there at the moment. The "anti-fatigue" food is an herbal jelly that supposedly locals eat to overcome the lack of oxygen. As Chinese people, we are very used to herbal flavors and assuming it's some sort of healthful effect is in there, its why root beer and sarsaparilla is very popular in China. also most public bathrooms in China don't give you toilet paper in the stalls, you're expected to carry a pack of toilet paper and nasal tissues with you everywhere.

esp in cold weather, you can be burning thousands of calories. You I guess they really want to make sure you're full.

Ukrainian here The distinct smell you've mentioned comes from the preparation process, all the meat you've had was probably stewed together with onion, carrots, cabbage and pepper. That smells like nothing else 😁 Also, artificial honey (i.e. a sugary syrup) is not really a thing in Ukraine. If it says "honey", it's quite certainly a real one here. You can actually get a real clear honey, it commonly comes from bee hives that pollinate Acacia trees

Dill, corianda (cilantro), garlic and onions are the most common combined flavours in Ukranian dishes. Borsch is the national dish. Borsch originated in what is now the Ukraine (Kiev Rus) in the 14th century. Fantastic ration.

I always enjoy your reviews. That ration had a generous portion for each meal. I grew up eating lots of Polish foods , my grandmother was from Poland and used to make great meals for us. I believe those recipes are made there too. Very tasty. You're outtakes are great. Thanks for sharing it with us.

What you might be detecting as different in the mains could be bay leaves. Common spices in Ukrainian food are onion, garlic, cumin, dill and bay leaf.

US / Ua here. love seeing this lol. those spices could be anything. they will sometimes use some spices we might use for baking but in meals. if that makes any sense. dill is very common.

These rations are amazing! I love the soups they give you, crackers are basically steel though hah. You got lucky with your mains - for me the text on the labels disintegrated as soon as I put them in water so I had to guess lol. Super duper filling!

It was still very tasty. If I remember correctly, I think I got 2 Lunch portions. Both packages had the same wording. Your meals look good. Glad they divided for you and saved the hassle. I am glad most items tasted good and had some flavor. I think you enjoyed this 24 Hr. ration. A lot of food for Lunch, A lot of food in entire meal. Very large ration, agreed. The Kasha soup, stew, is new to me. I have not seen that before. Sounds good. So did the beef and beans. Pepper is always good. Dinner, like Breakfast, looked awesome. Lunch was the star of the show. Unsure what different taste, aroma, or flavor is? This meal looks excellent Jerms. Glad you enjoyed. I have to finish up the ORP. I just like Dinner portion. Been busy, sorry. MCW upcoming very soon. I believe the peppercorn spice you are seeing is "Allspice" My mother of Polish origin used them in a lot of the dishes she made

Great ration and review ! I agree, the main dishes are excellent and compensate a bit the lack of side dishes. In terms of taste and quality this is a huge jump forward comparing to the old,canned versions

Hey brother..... I really enjoyed that review. I'm glad that you enjoyed this one more than the last one. I work with a few Ukrainians and they have been telling me about Ukrainian food.... sounds so good. One of them offered to cook some Ukrainian stuff for me and I'm super stoked to try it. All of the Ukrainians I have met are so awesome.... truly good people. Sadly, two of them have brothers on the front lines back home..... their families are suffering. It's truly sad where the world is now.....
