What an incredible adventure! Do you have any fun statistics about the trip? Total fuel burned? Any maintenance issues you had to deal with, etc?
Yes I have, see my reports on the Vans-Forum Post #143. Many more infos there. www.vansairforce.net/threads/rv-8-skyrunner-on-tour.217480/page-3
What a fantastic journey. Thank you for taking us along! Congratulations sir!
Wow, one of the coolest aviation adventures I've seen on video...well done!
bewundernswert!
Hammer Bilder! Mit wieviel cameras gefilmt? Die Aufnahmetechnik und Schnitt is professionell... Alles selber gemacht?
@@BjernioshkaAntonovitsch1 Ja alles selbst gemacht. Zwei oder drei Kameras liefen jeweils. Und viel viel Arbeit mit dem editieren!
Subscribed!
As a 777 pilot, I always wonder what it’s really like down there…thanks for posting!!
I also saw Greenland in good weather from up high many times - sipping my coffee. But seeing it this way by far tops it, I wished I had an extra engine - just in case!
Genial! War das IFR oder VFR? Gruesse von dem Frager aus GZ airport... 😊
Quite simply one of the very best aviation videos I've watched. Stunning journey!
What a trip. Congrats! I wish to see more.
Incredible flights. Personally, I would not be able to trust my airplane enough in that environment! If you had to ditch or land on a glacier....whoo boy. But this certainly is fun to watch.
Thanks for taking us along on this remarkable journey. Incredible video and editing. Anyway, I am considering buying an RV8! Thanks for the inspiration.
An outstanding record of your journey and some spectacular video. Many thanks for publishing this.
Thanks so much for sharing this series, very cool trip!
Respect
great work bwautifull
Well done!
He has total trust in his airplane. Loop in the middle of the arctic, no worries about an engine failure. This guys is the chuck noris of aviation.
@@gabrielchartrand1278 Actually I do worry about an engine failure and prepared for it. The outfit, helmet and equipment is all preparation for it. I take the remaining risk and flying lower on my sightseeing parts and increasing this risk is just living for a few minutes. I just have to...
Teil 2 ist auch toll! Beste Grüße nach Günzburg!
Viele Grüße zurück - wo immer die hingehen!
@skyrunner1818 Danke dir. Bin jetzt totaler Fan. Kommst mal in Málaga vorbei?
Absoluter Wahnsinn, was du da erlebt hast.
I wonder if he has autopilot.
22:35 you drew a goose!
FABULOUS !
OK what's thqnset up? I'm guessing an injected O-360 , constant speed prop, extended range fuel tanks. Anything else?
Good guess - IO-375, CS-Prop and 15Gal additional fuel in the rear baggage hold. Foam in the wings to avoid sinking after ditching, Other than that just additional equipment like life raft, helmet, tracker, transmitters, tools....
Paper charts... 😮
You're amazing! ...but how do you umm poop in there?
Never had to.... never thought about it.
I did not realize the RV-8 has the range to go from Greenland to Iceland. That is more than 700 miles?
Kulusuk to Reikjavik is only 450 miles, from Narsarssuaq it is 700 miles yes. Doable on standard tanks. I had an additional 15 Gal tank.
Cool gemacht, Gruss 😉
12:00 seems like time stop aviation is amazing
WoW. I know someone else who has landed at Johnson Creek. #2 Done.
WoW. I know someone else who has landed at Johnson Creek!
Wow
Very pretty bird, bet she could outrun a wagon 110/100 🤣
Bravo Herman! Thank you for sharing yet another amazing video !
I know you are professional, good pilot. Just amazes me. Ur risk mitigation is ironic, you wear special suit for freezing water, but you flew low between ice burg . Just observation. Thanks for putting up video! Great job.
You're right. Flying low there is an extra level of risk and options are shrinking. But a few minutes I was just living and enjoying, for me it was worth it and accepted the additional risk.
Wow. Amazing flying, videography, everything. Just, wow!
What a video series! I’ve watched it twice now and just amazed! Motivates me even more to do my around the world trip. What kind of equipment did you use to shoot all that and also how many hours flight time of fuel did you carry onboard for that Atlantic crossing? Thanks again for putting this together for us!
Hello and thanks for the comments. I used GoPro 5 and 10. Additionally an Insta360X3 and a SonyRXVII. Total fuel onboard was 57USG which is good for over 8 hours flight time on reduced power including reserves. That is usually enough to reach suitable alternates on this northerly route.
@@skyrunner1818 very cool thank you for the information, I’m originally from Normandie France and currently based at KJYO, my Musketeer has 59 gallons on board with the O320 around 7.25 gallons per hour I think I could potentially do the same route you did, very motivating and thanks for sharing and please stop by next time you fly over we’re underneath the Dulles Bravo. Stay well!
I love these long-form videos. Your content has me seriously considering an RV-8 for my next airplane!
AN RV-8 will not replace the planes you are flying. But as a second plane it would stand out for sure!
incredible series sir!
Thank you sir! 🛩️
wow, congrets!!!
