    I had thoughts of doing this in my 172 until I recently got bitten by the RV-8 bug. This vid only fueled the flame. OUTSTANDING vid in all aspects. Thanks for sharing!

    At 1:34 the way he opened the canopy is exactly the way my uncle does it, the slow gentle guide prevent it from chipping the paint off the base of the vertical stabilizer.

    Just incredible! I got to drive across it twice but seeing it from the air in my own plane is on my bucket list! Bravo!

    Beautiful flight and scenery! Between the mountains, the Hudson corridor in New York, and the back-country airfields, it's hard to pick a favorite.

    Excellent video. The drone shots literally add another dimension to the documentary. Seeing you fly around the San Francisco Bay Area brought back wonderful memories of my flying days there. Also honored that you used a few of my still photos of your stay in Brighton. Thanks for sharing!

    FANTASTIC! I've flown into many of the spots but not all of them. My favorites were Gouldings (Monument Valley) and Telluride. The Hudson River corridor is on my list next. Glad to see you enjoying your 8.

    They say the RV 9 is better for cross country (if you don’t care about aerobatics), but I think the visibility from the tandem-seating of the 8 would be truly insurmountable. Plus, the 8 is faster and holds more fuel.

      I am curious as to why you make that statement. What has changed?

    • @TherebyAir
      @TherebyAir 3 роки тому

      @@alangarrett1181 Border restrictions, national park closures, extra hoops to jump through everywhere. I think the border to Canada is still closed to most travel. If you happened to test positive for covid, you have to quarantine 14 days. I dunno... I feel like that would put a damper on a trip like this.

    • @09VMM
      @09VMM 2 роки тому

      @@TherebyAir I did something similar in Nov '21. There were a lot of exemptions for air crews, even GA planes. Canada was the most difficult, but since I was vaccinated, it wasn't too bad. A trip that I'd love to do again.

    • @skyrunner1818
      @skyrunner1818  2 роки тому

      The lines are cut from black vinyl, the same staff used for lining/lettering cars or windows. It is put on the inside of the canopy and is holding up very well.

      Hugo - it was a DJI Mavic Pro, not the newest version but works fine.

      I have a Dynon Skyview system installed. Additionally a portable Garmin 660 connected to the system as a backup.
      I used Foreflight on an Ipad and just for this tour I had a VOR/ILS receiver temporary installed.

    Nice! I met you in Boulder City for the parade flyover and lunch at the golf club. How do you like the -8 vs the -7? I figured for a trip like this, taking the 7 might have been better for those long flights.. accessing lunch and things? Although your aux tank probably fits better in the -8?

    • @skyrunner1818
      @skyrunner1818  4 роки тому +1

      Thomas, didn´t see your reply til now. I love the -7 too, very comfortable and performancewise very similar. I only took snacks enroute and drinks out of small bottles, all was organized so no problems flying the -8. However everything is accessible during flight in the -7 while in the -8 you need to know what things you want access to during flight.
      Would love to do formation with you again - meanwhile did some formal training and really enjoying it.
