Feldenkrais is a somatic movement method, named after it's founder Dr. Moshé Feldenkrais & is designed to enhance your body awareness, reduce discomfort, and promote better posture and flexibility. It is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. Whether you suffer from back pain, neck tension, or simply want to enhance your overall physical function, this method offers a practical approach to self-improvement.
🤔 How does Feldenkrais help with PAIN?
Feldenkrais helps with pain by improving body awareness, changing movement patterns, and promoting relaxation. It gently guides individuals to rediscover their natural movement patterns, reducing reliance on compensatory ones that may contribute to pain.
🤔 What is Functional Integration?
Functional integration is a hands-on approach that uses gentle touch and verbal guidance to help people learn new ways of moving and improve their body awareness. It was developed by Moshe Feldenkrais, a physicist and engineer who turned his attention to the study of movement and learning. Feldenkrais believed that we all have the potential to move more freely and efficiently, but that our patterns of movement can become stuck or habitual over time. Functional integration helps us to break free from these patterns and create new, more fluid and comfortable ways of moving.
🤔What does a Functional Integration session look like?
A typical functional integration session takes place on a table or mat. The practitioner will gently guide you through a series of movements, using touch to help you explore new ways of moving. The movements are typically slow and subtle, and they are designed to be relaxing and enjoyable.

nice setup, I've tried those gravity boots, not for me very awkward and uncombfortable pressure around the ankles. you'll see for yourself when u try them. other than that clean setup m8.

Should the opposite shoulder be feeling the pain?
Hello Teri, I‘m not sure if I understand your question correctly. Do you have pain in the opposite shoulder? Generally speaking the movement is designed to improve the mobility of your shoulder blade. This can lead to reduced tension on upper back muscles and therefore less pain. If you have pain in one shoulder I recommend practicing the movement with the other shoulder first and then practice it with the shoulder that has pain. When doing a Feldenkrais exercise, you shouldn‘t feel pain from doing the movements. If pain occurs, please make the movements smaller and slower. I hope this helps. @@feldenkrais-jakobpuchmayr my pain is in my right arm/ shoulder , but when i did the movement on my left side i felt it in my right side . I did the movement on both sides to try it , but did not feel it as much on the bad ( right) side , weird?

Thank you so much for sharing your observations. we are all different, so I can only make guesses. When you do the movement with your left shoulder and you lift it, some weight will shift onto the right shoulder (that might cause the pain in your case). Thank you for your message. Generally speaking Feldenkrais exercises should not be done in bed, because matresses are too soft, so it will be difficult to sense the subtle changes. However if you are not capable of lying on the floor, you can certainly try the lesson in bed (there is no negative side effect). If you have a low solid table at home I can also recommend lying on the table and do the movements. Hope this helps! Let me know if you have further questions. Regards, Jakob
