War-gaming channel concentrating primarily on Battlefront's excellent Combat Mission series.
Final Blitzkrieg: The Patrol
Not been playing much CM this past month (developed a fad of playing, of all things, truck simulators) but managed to squeeze in this small CMFB battle whilst using the CMFB 'All in One', reshade & a 2731x1536 resolution.
There's been a few changes to my system (a few minor upgrades, my i5-2400 is now an i7-2600 & I have doubled my RAM to 16GB) whilst Microsoft got rid of their video editor so I'm having to learn to use a different one (This video was made with Capcut).
I'm also trialing some tweaked gunshot trails & a new reshade profile for night battles (I'm calling it 'NIGHT BRIGHT'). Additionally, I used the quick tracer fix of deleting the [night] tracers & just using the untagged night effects option instead.
Finally, the 'Reanimate' option is active.

Our household has been suffering from a nasty stomach bug these past few weeks which halted work on the SF2 'All in One'. I did make some tweaks to the Afghanistan option so that it better integrates with the rest of the modpack. Before illness struck I had being going through all the SF1 scenarios & adding water where needed... I have about 60 more maps to check so I'm confident that'll be box...

Inside the modpack is an "extras & options" folder. Inside that is Rockinharry's 'reanimate' mods. These mod the stances of the men so that they're more likely to keep their heads down.

Only 3 men killed! Impressive. I'm so new to these games lol, I had 27 KIA and had to retreat. Watched your video to learn what I'm doing wrong.
The old maxim... "Don't send a squad where a team hasn't been, don't send a Platoon where a squad hasn't been & don't send a Company where a Platoon hasn't been" ... will serve you faithfully if you serve it. Also, I could probably count on one hand the number of times I've lost due to a lack of ammo or a lack of time... so be patient & be trigger-happy.

question. in your final blitzkrieg all in one modpack there are two versions of the rollbahn d campaign. one is called 'rollbahn d 0-48 stunden' the other is simply 'rollbahn d'. was wondering what the difference was?

The full campaign is, by far, the biggest campaign ever made at a whopping 35 scenarios, however it begins with a choice of starting on day 3 (if you've played the 48 hr version already). If you intend to play the full campaign I'd advise just playing that from the start. It seems to me though that a 7 scenario campaign is far more likely to be actually finished than a 35 scenario one.

The early planetree and blurred edge look great. Everything looks really good. I would hope to God that they would finally give us an early DLC Mod, and we can do our own scenarios and campaigns but damn... looking really good. Question if you had to model after other vehicles and such, how do you do the penetration and armor model values?
Awesome job K.O.B. It is interesting to note that for a Veteran Tank crew after moving it may take 2-5 minutes to spot the opposition or worse depending on where the disposition of the enemy is. Sometimes you never really spot the enemy from the Panzer, but your Infantry will after a few minutes. Good work, really enjoyed the video.
Can you tell me if you keep both the 2017 and 2022 active when you play the 2022 version?? Or just the 2022 folder is active
Both... Late Summer & 2017 is the base modpack. "2022" is an optional extra
How much GB of space does it take to make this 16min video?
It tends to be a little less for night or snowy battles plus CM records best at a lower bit rate... I'd estimate ~ 850mb. Saving all the clips whilst playing, pre-editing, takes far more space &, as I usually record at 1440p, I wouldn't be surprised if I used ~4gb for that.

Still unable to figure out how to get the whole "2014" look going, Been adding and removing stuff but can never make it look exactly like that
Yeah... I forgot to put in suitable prefixes for the content, but if you load up any 2014 campaigns & scenarios (IIRC there's one campaign & a handful of such scenarios) the mods should load up the [panzermike] tag automatically.
@@k.o.b.597 Tried this, Some of the DPR units use the blue digital camos for the Ukrainians. Temporarily removing those files seems to make everything work properly however

Hello i have a little question This ALL in one mode has CAMPAiGNS and SCENARIOS. Can those be played without the mods included in pack? Or those CAMPAiGNS and SCENARIOS require mods like textures for example from that folder mod? Or some modifications from there?
ALL campaigns & scenarios can be played without mods. Mods merely add flavour so that, for example, when you load up an old "Winter" Stalingrad campaign (set in September because of editor limitations from the time) it should look noticeably different from a September 1944 campaign.

Yeah, I was surprised too. I know it's an old campaign but I'm sure US Airborne came with the base game so not too sure why they weren't used for this scenario. IIRC there was an old ranger mod which was meant to be used for this campaign but I never bothered looking for an update.

I dearly love this game, and entire series; but I wish to god they would do something about the spotting. @1:50 is a perfect example. Your men (literally) ran right into the front of the foxhole waiting for you...and they never saw you coming at all. I have seen this happen with my infantry waiting for tanks and been blasted by buttoned up tanks. I simply canNOT reconcile some of the spotting in the game more so than any suspect "Tactical AI" choices that I hear people bitch about. WORST PART IS.... It is still the BEST series of wargames in this scale bar none (even with the decades old engine). :) Thanks for posting!
The reshade profile hid it but the conditions were pitch black, at night & in a snow storm... it seems perfectly reasonable for me that a defensive position could be surprised in such circumstances. Actually the second 'surprise contact' (at ua-cam.com/video/QdJyXLZiYVw/v-deo.html) seemed "worse" to me because you'd imagine the defenders would have been alerted by all the overwatch fire. Even so, considering the conditions & the abstract nature of the spotting model, these contacts still seem pretty believable events to me. The biggest problem with the spotting model (and especially when comparing with real war footage) is the usual wargaming problem of giving you (a floating spirit of war) too much information compared with the guys on the ground. This leads to the 'All or nothing' issue we see in wargame spotting when, in reality, "spotting" can be many, many, many shades of grey. Finally, it's possible that 'reanimate' may be effecting the spotting model.
@@k.o.b.597 Posible, not probable and MUCH less likely. Problem is that is NOT how it works in the game. Play and learn, listen or not I care not. I have watched this company before they published their first....back when it was called (no kidding) "Beyond Squad Leader". The spotting code sucks horribly. Wait until you have an on-line game with an AT ambush set PERFECTLY; an ambush that (literally) may have taken weeks to setup....THEN have a TIGER roll up IN THE OPEN....BUTTONED UP ....and SPOT your AT Team 100m off to the side in the trees and blow them away. I have seen this scenario more times than I can count. IF you play as long and as much as I, you will see it sooner or later.

Nice vid of course. But has the scenario designer even played CMSF2 as the OpFor? Setting up tanks on the hill in static posistions rather than use movement triggers is a bit to easy for the yankees.
Paper Tiger has probably played a game or two. The briefing mentioned the Syrians had dug them in on the ridge to resist air attacks... which certainly seemed to be the case.

I added tweaked versions of the Barbarossa mods/scenarios so, as shown in this tidbit (and tidbit 114), you can expect to see 'rudimentary weathering' on your Barbarossa vehicles

Combat mission battle for normandy would be perfect if the engine was released 5 years after 2011 imo. 2016 release would have made it have a greater graphical and animation fidelity. The movement animations for men is my biggest criticism of the game - not moving the sufficient speed for the animation given etc
