Tim, thanks for the video! I just started using the advance tuning software today with my laptop, wow this video sure explained a lot of good stuff! My Killshot working ok, but I have a problem with it when decelerating and push in the clutch it just dies! I've been watching all the videos you done, and it has sure helped me understand the Aces system! Keep doing the fun stuff!!!
Found out that the harness wont support 09 4l60 i swapped valvebody and wiring from 08 and it worked fine
I ant getting spark on mine changed the crank sensor but nothing
Try the newest firmware in case it is a cam sensor issue
Does everyone who gets this distributor have to do this? I bought the whole high roller ignition kit for my ford 460. Can I just drop it in like how it came?
You can if you want and let the advance do its thing. Or lock it out and build a timing retard table in the handheld if you like.
This has me worried that I might be fighting mine when I put in on. I bought my motor from a guy that builds them in his machine shop on the side. It's supposed to be a "355" with a mild cam is all I know. How hard is that going to be to dial in?
I do not mean to worry people by any means. The basic adjusts to get one running I usually do in the hand held then I use the tuning software to fine tunes stuff. Not really hard
Thank you! For doing this after my comment on the dizzy locknout video. Much appreciated!
Math is fun. You should see my engine maths guide I made.
Hello! please tell me where to read, in what cases it is worth blocking the distributor, and when it is worth unblocking it? There is not a word about this in the instructions for Black Jack... I only read this in the instructions for Kill Shot and now I want to return Carter BBD, but leave Black Jack... Thank you
For doing timing control on the killshot. Is good. For running a high roller you can let the mechanical advance do its job or lock it out and build a timing retard table
Hello my friend! Tell me, do you or your colleagues have a video where problems with connecting and setting up Killshot are discussed? I have some difficulties, and the support service only asks questions (the last question was “what was my order number, and how do I remember, because I ordered 1.5 years ago, but I’m installing it only now) ... and sometimes I have to wait for them messages for several days... and I apologize for my English)
What issues are you having.
@@actionvulture5251 Con su permiso, citaré lo que escribí hoy al servicio de soporte. Yes, and forgive me, I have no complaints against you, because I understand that all the warranty periods have passed, I just want to set up for 3 weeks (three!) and understand HOW the system should work! (all this time the car is in other people’s workshops and not for free) and you tell me “tomorrow” but three days later you ask for the order number... ask Josh, we corresponded with him in December 2022. I can repeat my problems: 1. after 20 minutes of operation, KillShot refused to start the engine (it gave an impulse for a spark, but the TBI fuel dropped) I had to connect the Black Jack and the engine started 2. The KillShot monitor initially showed all zeros, including when the engine was running, and then went out completely... 3. The engine idles unevenly, after warming up the speed begins to fluctuate from 350 to 1100 and sometimes the engine stalls. when you press the accelerator there is a big drop in revolutions, sometimes it stalls and sometimes the speed increases and does not drop to “idle” for a long time... when you turn on “drive” the engine sometimes stalls... I just want to finally start driving and don’t want to return Carter BBD to my car (the pump I use is Edelbrock 36031, the oxygen sensor was first installed on the supplied adapter, but it was leaky and I welded a sleeve under it at a distance of 9" from the manifold) and, once again, please forgive my English, this is Google translator... Thank you

and Today, After many attempts to start the car and achieve normal idle speed, I left the workshop, the car behaves disgustingly, it constantly stalls, but the second monitor began to show signs of life, the following message appeared on it: “Error! I bought this whole system tb , coil, distributor and 4l60e trans controller for my 1984 chevy k10. I can set the #1 cylinder close to TDC how do I get the 15° without a dial wheel? Currently 0° on the balancer.
I have my dizzy locked out tb installed. Currently have the old distributor still sitting on the oil pump. So taking this slow to figure it all out. I have about 3 days to get this up and running. and no cover as I'm outside 😂
Check out my video on balancer math. It might be helpful.
Tim, So now have u on KillShot info I have another question. I have 98 (gen6) 454 that I installed Howards Rattler cam .555 lift .278/.286 dur and 109lsa. Runs great but doesn’t sound like a big cam @ idle. I talked to people @ Howards they that’s really lope idle cam ?? Is KillShot compensating for this ?? What do I need to do in tune to get lope back in idle ??
Where the timing and idle control are trying to achieve a target it will comp for that some. I will try to find some time in better explaining this and how to develop cam sounds.
@@TECHDUMPSITEthat would be awesome !! I was told that headers would make big difference. Those on the list !!🤣🤣
I think diving into that subject will be a good video soon.
It’s doesn’t get anymore real world than this, thank you soo much, you don’t know how much of a world aces just opened up for car truck guys 😊
Working hard for the people here.
Wow 😮! Simple and elegant system! Mind blown 🤯! 😱 super awesome video short sweet concise factual and very informative! Very proper clear enunciations! I’m over here dreaming of new possibilities for my projects! 😅 millions of horrible UA-cam shill videos and yet this guy has renewed my faith, I really wish UA-cam could really let me tailor my own preferences on there algorithms, anyhoos really thinking about buying this system for running my 2uzfe v8 😂! Now I just gotta find some way to make a intake manifold to mate up to the killshot unit 😅, ok I just found out aces makes the wild card port injection system mind blown 🤯 where did I put my card?😅
Just trying to keep it realistic and correct.
What is difference btw using download button on top left to the ones on bottom right as u were using ?? 🤔🤔. I always downloaded from top buttons. And where/what would u adjust if motor sometimes keeps running a bit when I shut off ??
The one at the top does the whole ecu. The ones at the bottom does just the table your on. Also for the keep running when turning off, for tbi it could be fuel pressure or timing.
@@actionvulture5251 Hey man I have some questions about the killshot, got an email I can reach you at to get some details?
Are you running thar data log viewer through the aces software? Is that your secret special spicy software or can I do that as well?
Someone got to test this stuff. But yes it will be a thing. I will even make an aces video on using it.
@@actionvulture5251 dope!
How come your tach doesn't work?
It is not plugged in yet.
How are you liking the system? I got their entire multiport set up but engine still in the machine shop so just a bunch of pretty parts for now
I enjoy my aces stuff a lot.
@@actionvulture5251 appreciate the input can’t wait to hear it come to life. Hope you had a great 4th of July
Just ordered one today to replace my sniper efi
I am going to take some of my old early killshot parts and convert a sniper to work. I think it would make a cool video.
Is the fuel pressure compensation in the equation like some other companies.
Not from the sensor currently but that is in a future plan
I didnt actually hear it going into 3rd..and thats the problem im having
You can always send a email and video to tech support. No 3rd could be a bad wire or a stuck check ball in your separator plate.
All I can say is thank you so much.
We do try
Ive got a 4.3 V6 and aces doesn’t have a distributor for my motor but I want timing control through the Aces ECU are there any other distributors that will work with the killshot ECU for timing control
We have a v6 distributor it is been ordered from the manufacturer I have two different killshots on 4.3v6 one is a MSD pro billet and the other is a hyperspark both work fine.
If this is an ACES product why doesn't it come with this already done?
Because some use it in different applications with cdi boxes or other things. It is easier to lock it out than install everything to be used when using mechanical advance.
How have they been treating you? How long they been running ?
The gold one I donated to a car that caught on fire. The black one is running strong on my dump truck it runs about everyday. My dad hauls rocks several times a week.
So can you replace the 100 pound injectors with some 210s and change the fuel settings in the software?
That will be a thing at some point I think currently the value is locked out unless you have the engineering level software that I use but it is a future thing
Hi Tim is it in the works to be able to set the number of cylinders in the wizard or software i have a killshot on a mazda rotary witch runs as a 4 cylinder so the rpm in the handheld is half the motor rpm i have the target idle set to 500 but having a hard time getting it below 600 so 1200 on the motor
It is
I just purchased the kill shot and im no mechanic. But i have an msd distributor and 6al box how do I hook it to the box to control timing if you don't mind answering. Thanks
Lock out the distributor and use the vr wire on the killshot harness then use the point wire to trigger the MSD box. There is a diagram that will help in the instructions.
@@actionvulture5251 😀 thanks for replying I appreciate it and I'm going to sub to your channel right now.
Don't 4L65E/4L70E have 5 pinion planets
Yes unless it was broken and you had to work with what you have.
For an electric fan, you don't need it to idle up higher I would assume. So, how/where do you turn that off in the handheld?
There is a % number you can make it not idle up when the fans are on
Ls swap. Ls swap. Ls swap. 5 hp Briggs and stratton ???
Yes
Awsome info. thanks..
Too easy
Is there any way to wire up the factory gauges to the setup and correct speedo accuracy and such? Looking to do this setup on my 90’ suburban with a 5.3/4L60E swap and really wanting to use the factory gauges. The speedo is electronic on the 90’ and all the other gauges just used sensors. You think there’s a way I can make this work? ACES’s website isn’t very clear on this and just acts like it can’t be done and that is why they have the display to monitor stuff
I used the factory VCM in my Taheo to give me most of my gauges. And to control the 4l60e.
You should dispose of that 13b properly. Very bad engine. Ship it to me, I'll make sure it gets disposed of properly...
and the trans and the rims and interior.
@actionvulture5251 very true lol
Do you not have to run a vacuum line for the fuel pressure regulator
Sometimes I do. I should on everyone.
Oh ok cause I've been having problems with mine randomly acting up and can't figure out why I've sent a few videos to Bradleys email hopefully y'all can figure it
I’m digging the Ace unit.
Big fan personally. I have a few projects so I daily them everyday. The camper, Taheo, dump truck, turbo farm truck all aces powered. Nothing more than basic install and tuning.
So we can only change the table values one box at a time? We can’t highlight and change a highlight section?
I have no trouble with this. Highlight the area and right click and offset the value. Too easy.
@@actionvulture5251 awesome thanks
Question, kill shot secondary wire harness what is fuel level and rev, programable ground do or for.
The fuel level is the fuel level input. It will be live in an upcoming firmware package. The rev will be a custom ground trigger to turn on and off a relay set by parameters.
@@actionvulture5251 sweet! Thank you.
Hey man would you recommend the Jackpot system for a single turbo LS? If so should the o2 sensor be installed before the turbo?
O2 sensor goes after the turbo by at least 18”. I have two jackpots one is on a single turbo ls as well.
Hope my 454 runs like that in my resto mod. A ways to go before it bursts into life in Australia.
Aces is growing a good support community and people like me that love to make crappy videos about stuff.
@@actionvulture5251 once I got the cab of my 58 3804 repaired and on my 76 C20 frame, I will start my electrical work. MS Cannon plugs to disconnect the chassis and engine looms as required from the cab. Gonna keep that Killshot processor in the cool dry air of under the dash, when the time comes.
A screen mirror would be the cherry on top. Its very hard to see the screen and what you’re doing. But I do appreciate you for making this video
Try watch it on desktop if possible and turn the resolution up,
I will be doing this on the dyno soon with screen capture
@@actionvulture5251 Sweet deal! Looking forward to it.
Thank you Tim. These are the videos I want to see. Thank you. So to recap on what you have taught me so far, those values in the learn table are in millisecond of injector pulse width. And a value of 150 is approximately 8%. And as long as those numbers are within 10 to 15% of my table, I am OK?
Yes. Also the new software we just put on the site puts those value in percent
@@actionvulture5251 Thats Awesome!! Percentage is much more user friendly. Thanks for the Reply.
Does that work on the jackpot also
Yes all systems
@@actionvulture5251 thank you sir
What did you comment the V-MAIN wire to?
I only hook it to the Hall effect distributor. Nothing else
@@actionvulture5251 also does the tach/coil - wire (grey) need to be grounded to the coil pack even without a tach?
Right on! I haven't been so fortunate. I'm new to the EFI scene and just installed the killshot top end kit on a SBC swapped CJ7. Having issues so far with idle timing wanting to jump to 20° initial, after very 1st start up. Kinda spit and sputtered, then shut off. Then, in turn, I fried a cheap Chinese mini starter. Lol. That has nothing to do with this issue, but NOTHING good has gone my way since purchase. Ready to give up on my project. I'm destined for failure I'm starting to realize.
Sounds like too much fuel. When you have a high injpw it will add iac, timing, and you will have a crap idle. On this unit I pull 30% out of the fuel table offset to make the first startup happy. This is also the same unit I had on my Taheo before I switched it to the joker system. Also those mini high torque starters is worth buying two and a rebuild kit. I have ejected one straight off a motor once due to the casting being crap.
Which wire does the vss wire connect to on the tail sensor of the 60?
On the speed sensor. Unless you have a transfer case then it goes to the tail housing of the transfer case
Great video. Just wanted to know if monitor can be disconnected after initial set up? Installing 2bbl set up on stock Cutlass Supreme with V6 engine for senior citizen who doesn't want the monitor showing. I figure I can just hook it up any time need to check or make adjustments. Just wondering if system will run without monitor hooked up. Thanks!
After I get my adjustment done. Let it learn then turn off the o2 sensors when it drives good I usually disconnect the handheld. It has no issue
Its a cheaper system then holly how good do you really like it
I am putting one on my dump truck currently. My daily has a joker in my Taheo. It gets about a thousand miles a week.
Thanks for this
No problem
Can you please explain what those numerical values on the learn table represent and how to read them so I know if it’s adding or removing fuel. Also is there or will there be a color coding for the fuel map (heat map) to be able to see at a glance if it rich or lean? Thanks
No need for a heat map but the learning is represented in MS of PW so 150 = roughly 8%
Is there or will there be a button to automatically adjust your VE table from the data on the learn table? I’ve seen that on other software.
After all the r&d we did on that we realized it does not work really good for making a better tune. So we just let the learn be a modifier for the table so it smooths it out better. No need for peaks and valleys.
Approximately how many miles would you say it takes for it to fully learn before you can turn learning off?
Just a couple drive cycles.
