Please watch the last episode. Yes, it's a tear-jerker, but Toranaga has one of the HARDEST lines when he discusses Mariko: "With the regents united, I could never send an army to Osaka. It would have meant certain death...so, I sent a woman to do what an army never could.” We learn that thanks to Mariko, a unified Japan will have peace that it hasn't seen in centuries. Historically, this began the shogunate of Tokugawa Ieyasu, who Lord Toranaga is based on. While a fictional version of what actually happens, this Shogunate that lasted 260 years was possible because of Mariko's strength & determination.

Maximus is definitely the most complex character among the three mains. He constantly lies, like agreeing to help Lucy even if he had no authority to get the Brotherhood to help. His reason for him joining the Brotherhood; "I want to hurt those who hurt me" feels like a cover.

When The Ghoul is watching his movie, Coop says the thing about "ugly, strong, and had dignity", then tells the villain that he has two out of three (implying that he had no dignity). But the kicker is, that at this point in his life, the same could be said for The Ghoul.

One of the things I find very fun in these reaction videos is the glee with which some enjoy Colin's suffering. Which is deserved. The consensus with many is that Francesca is on the autism spectrum, which makes a lot of sense to me. A few years ago I wrote a play with a character on the spectrum and did a lot of research. Francesca certainly seems to fit the bill, not least in her myopic focus and desire of quiet. It fits also with our seeing a handsome young rake in a wheelchair, and two women signing to one another. Diversity is a plus. It is startling (and welcome) to see Cressida as a character with restraint, vulnerability, and also changing. Just as the darker aspects of Eloise (who frankly seems to have zero natural awareness that others' opinions can be valid, or that her situation is in fact very privileged on so many levels--not least the powerful support structure that almost no one else has). An interview with the actress playing Penelope noted how she has changed her voice over the seasons, not least now she speaks slower and in a deeper register--her voice growing closer that of Lady Whistledown! I personally think Penelope is in many ways all of us--the lonely one, the one with different tastes that others despise, the one who struggles with hope, who looks at herself and sees someone with the wrong body, etc. Like Poe's poem "Since childhood's hour I have not been as others were...and all I loved, I loved alone." We are all Penelope, Cyrano, Tyrion, Brienne, etc. At the same time I must say Penelope's sisters are hilarious, especially the raw cluelessness of Phillipa! But she's a quick learner!

13:00 I don’t think vial will help her anymore. Roger had all those vials that he just used recently by his feet that couldn’t stop him from going feral. At some point if the feralizing? process has gone too far, it seems inevitable.

I tend to think of this as the episode where Lucy starts to understand how much she doesn’t know about the world of the wasteland.

The Ghoul doesn't personally "hate" Lucy, he hates what she represents, which is Vault-Tec. As for the "medicine" you see him taking, this is something new that this show has added, you don't find it in the games. Once a ghoul starts to turn feral (zombie) there is no amount of the medicine they could take to prevent them from turning.

yes the games are good and a vary immersive world if you are the type to read all the notes and the like. also vary good story telling with the settings no words needed. I.E. the family around the table in episode 2. fallout 1 and 2 = top down RPGs falloutdc 3, new vagus, and 4 = FPS with some RPG aspects (less as time goes on) fallout 76 = like 4, but with MMO like aspects. they have added much story that was missing at launch. in time line it is a prequel.

Then why is it bombing? No Max; no watch.

I feel like Colin is only his true self when he's with pen and when hes with his family. But really I think the only two people that know him the most are Pen, Eloise! I also love his relationship with his siblings and his mom. I'm loving this season! Team Polin💙💙💙

Also episode 2 I NOTICED SOMETHING, pen actually slips up! When Colin comes to visit her she says ‘ it would have been weird if she hadn’t reported it’ SHE SAID THE SAME TO ELOISE but she said it to Colin first unintentionally omggg I think they are gonna bring this up again when he finds out 😮 because WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT lol

As a lady who has lived the “would you kiss me?” scene at the absolute lowest point in my life and had my request denied by my best friend of almost 20 yrs….I was bawling when Colin actually did it. I love these two characters together. And these two actors are a phenomenal pairing. Luke does a fantastic job playing Colin pretending to be a womanizer. When he’s “on” he seems false, aloof, even a bit creepy -that awful wink!- but when he’s with Pen he doesn’t act that way. He is honest, blunt, and genuinely charming. The market scene is him trying to be both. When he’s fully focused on Pen, he’s old Colin. When he gets distracted by a girl, he turns his womanizer facade “on” very briefly before going back to real Colin as he continues speaking with Pen. And Nicola is brilliant this season. But I think she’s been great from the start of season 1.

Lucy is not a character from the game. In fact nothing from the show happened in any game. As you said it is more a completely new story and characters set in the universe created by the games. Which is honestly pretty cool. It means it is new even for those of us who played every game.

"so this is futuristic but retro". Exactly retro futurism. An idea of what people in the 1950s might think the future looks like given their understanding of the world. No internet, no iphones but nuclear powered everything to include robots and cars.

I genuinely don't get why so many people hate Colin this much. What exactly did he do that was so offensive across seasons 1 and 2? Other than the awful end of season 2 when I wanted to kill him, I've always thought he was kind and decent. As for his attitude in this episode, it felt completely artificial to me, like he was playing a character of society. Even in this ep, after she calls him out, he drops the act with her.

There are multiple games, each with its own stand-alone story. Quality varies, but they're generally very good. The Amazon series is set AFTER all the games to date and is its own original story, so it has something new to offer everyone whether they've played the games or not... and if you DO go play the games, each of them will have story elements you've never run into before.

"It looks heavy" It's power armor. It's a whole articulated hydraulic framework that carries its own weight while amplifying the force applied by your own muscles. It IS heavy, but it's not making you carry it. Instead, it's strong enough to carry YOU as well as itself.

You nailed it with 'retrofuturism'. What you're seeing in that first scene is the future of an alternate timeline that split somewhere around the end of World War 2. It's the year 2077, a future as imagined by the people of the 1950s and 60s... a world of cheap nuclear power, domestic service robots, miracle medicines, and a cold war that's been gradually building up to the boiling point of actual military conflict with advanced power armor for limited resources over the course of a hundred years... and even with the advanced electronics like the robots, there's not a microprocessor in sight. The supercomputers are running in vacuum tubes and transistors. And THEN the bombs drop and we jump forward 219 years.

I enjoyed this movie. Not to the extent I was hoping for but the stunts and action were great, the cast was excellent and all the behind the scenes of the movie set sequences had my inner movie geek very satisfied! Great review
