Hello again , check this out. I found citric acid monohydrate, for decalcification of coffee machines, would make good substitute for sulphuric acid😊
Have you ever thought about growing mango trees? Get a lemon zest mango, its the best tasting variety.
Actually just though about expanding our fruit collection toward the tropical side the other day and mango was the first on the list!! I will definitely try to get myself this variety as I've heard about it. We will be mainly planting in potted containers, so if you have any other suggestion do let me know hehe.
@@natbackyardgarden Bro get the Pickering mango to test out. Best container mango, is a delicious dwarf zill variety, and will actually fruit for you here in TX. Got mine from logees.
@@natbackyardgarden There's a youtuber called Fruitful Trees that does a lot of mango content, his favorite is Sunrise mango
@ I will definitely check his channel out!
@ this variety seems to fit all the checklist for our needs for container growing. Thanks!
Dang that looks so good
Enjoy your greenhouse.
Thank you!
Absolutely beautiful Nat!
Thank you!
Did you work out what the difference was between all yr previous crops that were small, and this crop which is substantial? LouiseAustralia 🦘
Yes I believe so! Much less nitrogen is needed during the planting/early stages of growing and fertilizer high in potassium and phosphorous really helps with the potatoes development.
Asian pear is so good. So crispy, so crunchy, sweet, and refreshing. ❤️
How has this pear done against fire blight?
I have not notice any type of fire blight ever 20+years.
@natbackyardgarden thanks I'll definitely have to get it for the ft Worth area .
Thanks Pete for letting us see the fruit they say grows wild all over America and yet we never see or smell. Never even heard second hand stories from Grand or great grandparents. So yeah, thanks for the chance to finally see them.😊
This guy definitely loves paw paw😊 his enthusiasm is infectious😊
I missed my 2 Asian 6 in one grafted pear tree. My mom replanted it after 3 seasons of abundant fruits and both died. I wanted to buy another one, but we have lots of gophers now. I spent so much money to get rid off it. I can’t grow anything anymore. Help please.
What is the total cost for this?
I will have a future video detailing this. Haven't even had the time to tally anything up as of yet. But rough estimate I would say around 11-13 thousands at this point tools purchases included.
I've been waiting for this video. I knew it was going to be great, but not this amazing.
Haha thanks!
Hello Nat, I find this video interesting and I want to share a comment with you. I found the acid not for batteries but they sell >30 % sulfuric acid for unclogging drain pipes. Also I can use rain water instead of distilled water (i think it is pure) so it saves a bit on the budget. Thanks and keep up with the good videos
Hey, have you tried pine needles and pine apples in there? Does that work? Great video thanks every so much! I would like to understand better how it works. With blades and stuff. Some leaf shredders are just two plastic wired going around (WorkX)
This shredder can pretty much shred anything that is dry. I have put in 2 inch tree limbs and it devour it like nothing! Only thing that can destroy the blade on this is metal materials haha.
I love the dancing and the kisses to the fruit.
when is time to take cuttings? ]
Dormant cuttings about a month before spring time and also during summer when the first growth are hardened off.
@@natbackyardgarden Ok, I understand you, but how about medium, it is the same I presume?
Happy for your first harvest!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽 Isn’t it amazing how plants teach you patience and appreciation? And how satisfying it is when you grow your own?!?!? And how rewarding it tastes!!! It confirms that self sufficiency is achievable. Such a blessing. Ayyyyy 🎉 I planted my first two fruit trees, in this case apple trees, for the first time ever this year. A Stayman Winesap and a Golden Delicious. I’m excited and hopeful to reap the harvest in the coming seasons. Excited to make apple butter and apple sauce.
Kiddos were like, this popsicle is sooo good. 😂😂😂 I was unaware that there was a zone 7 in Texas. I’m in zone 7 in the northern part of central Virginia. New follower…I’m curious to see what your growing conditions are like in Texas compared to the humid climate in my region. I too will be building a greenhouse out of windows I’ve collected. Hopeful it will turn out the way I envision it. I also have hard clay soil so I’m intimidated by the amount of physical labor it will take. I have manually built a trench for a retaining wall for a garden bed at my previous property all by myself. Sore was an understatement but I thugged it out. 😂
I would take hard clay any dayyyy! The rocks/caliche is what would make digging so tough. We are from the panhandle of TX, so we basically get all kind of weather except for humidity haha. Wind, hail, snow, hot/dry summers, oh and no humidity of any lol. Goodluck on your build! As long as you have a vision you will accomplish it!
@@natbackyardgardenthank you so much for the encouragement . And ahh, I get what you’re saying, that would be frustrating dealing with rocky soil. I would imagine that causes challenges with regulating drainage?? I do like the moisture retention quality of clay soil, but it’s heavy when you’re manually moving it (digging, shoveling and in the case of my first project transporting it to the landfill. I had nowhere to put it at my condo. But here I have uses for the extra dirt. My mom’s side of the family is from Texas and I’m considering moving there in a few years because I want to get some lane. I’m looking at Rosebud (Falls county) and Temple (Bell county) areas. They are in zone 8b. I want to use this time to really improve my gardening skills so I’ll know how to pivot when faced with challenges in a different climate.
How do you combine organic and synthetic fertilizer, is it possible, thanks
Not sure what you mean by combining, but we use both organic and synthetic fertilizers for our blueberries. Every containers of our will have a couple handful of Hollytone fertilizer and fertilizer with synthetic fertilizer throughout the growing months. Hollytone will slowly feed the plants, while the synthetic will immediately give nutrients to the plants.
Ok thanks
@@natbackyardgarden I apologize but can you give me some help how to fertilize blueberries I have in ground, I have had a lot of problems with them, could you use a similar method? Thanks
Ah, how exciting! They are our favourite apple too. I really wanted to grow some as well, but we can't buy that particular cultivar here in the UK, as the growers believe it won't do as well in our climate, so don't allow it to be sold here.
Yes unfortunately the pink lady apple require a decently long summer/sunny weather follow by the fall to really redden up with color n flavor. Which apple variety does well in the UK climate?
@natbackyardgarden we have a few different ones in our garden, including two Cox's Orange Pippins. They have a lovely rich sweetness and a good 'bite' to them. Our garden winner this year was our Dwarf Golden Delicious, though. It went crazy and had to be propped up by several stakes and even a chair - and I had thinned the fruit out several times. I think lots of apple trees do well here, we had just hoped to grow a Pink Lady or two, so were surprised to find that that wasn't possible.
@@backyardsnackyard Golden delicious is another great variety! We love to pick them a little early before ripe so they are still at the max crunchiness with a tiny hint of tartness. If you can find it then you should still plant it and see if it's true haha.
I hope I get fruit on my Pink Lady this coming spring and my Fuji, I really like the Fuji best but the pink lady is really good too, all I've tasted so far is from the store. So this is the picking time for the apples? I hope you have an awesome massive harvest this coming new year, I hope I do too.
How exciting 😊🍎...yum! Can't wait for a greenhouse update and walk through... also citrus baby uodates. Thanks Nat
Have you tried the Envy apple, that's my favorite. Also you should do an update on your citrus.
I have but only from the store. They always have a bitter aftertaste to us. But I’m sure fresh off a tree would be amazing. I will soon after finishing our greenhouse build in the next few weeks!!
Thanks so much!
I’m too Vietnamese. And my mil said impossible to plant any in Oklahoma. lol. Woow
I need to stop watching you. Jk. I keep adding citrus tree to my wish list.
Will he sell me any pawpaw to me. He’s the king of pawpaw. Spread some love lol
Haaa I told him if he got plenty leftover to give me some...haven't heard back haha.
Thanks for sharing. What’s your fave sumo oranges? My 3 and 4 year old lime and lemon, kumquat has produce no fruits. What am I doing wrong 😊
Sumo is the same as Shiranui soooo Shiranui it is for us here! Kumquat should be producing almost all year round. Just keep them happy and feed them well and they should always bloom especially during early spring time.
Thanks for the chipper/shredder review!
Great job man. I wish I built my foundation myself lol
Thanks for posting this, Nat. I have mesquite tree bark in central Texas.
How did your harvest go?
Had a few handful to eat...not as exciting this year. Hopefully next year will bring us a much larger and bountiful harvest!
I just used pine bark mulch it's just easier
You might try a fertilizer that is low in nitrogen and higher in phosphorus and potassium in the containers.
I bought a small box of Hosui pears at a local Farmer's market and just ate one today and it tastes like honeysuckle! I'm saving the seeds and am going to grow some trees! One question; how deep do the roots grow and is there any risk of hem interfering with your pipes if grown close to the house?
Great to hear! We have this tree about 10 foot away from our main sewer line for almost 30 years now and no roots have penetrated through.
where you order ? pls
It was on Esty a while back.
Putting seeds in the refrigerator will kill them
I was just smiling so much watching you find those potatoes!!!!!😂😂😂😂
Looks like Sumo orange to me.
I love your boy. He makes me smile..
Is good muscadines
Love how excited you get about this fruit. Now I need to try it. Will this grow in Iowa? Never heard if this fruit till now.
It never hurt to try! We get down to 0 or -2F once a year and they come back fine.
I have 2 Olympic giants. At least 10 years old. Produces a lot of pears. I'm in Iowa I get more and more each year. Love my Asian pears.
I finally tasted the grafted Olympic Giants and it is a great variety! Much denser and larger than the typical asian pears.
Good harvest. You were so surprised. I am sure your family was too. Enjoyed watching you.
I need me a paw paw tree now! 🔥 video
Best time to plant any trees is nowww! Haha.
Hey Nat check this place out, they have one orange tree that will handle down to -28F , I have bought a few trees from them and they send out really nice looking trees that are ready to plant outside if the tree you ordered will handle the climate all year where you live, right now they only have citrus trees but he says in this video that they are going to have persimmon and pawpaws soon and more different fruit and I don't remember if he said nut trees too in the future, I thought this might interest you , I hope you guys are doing great.. Thank you for the link! I basically watched all of his videos in a few nights haha. Too bad they don't ship to TX sigh....!
I'm in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. I grow muscadines at my house and also pick wild muscadines. Around here, wild muscadines are everywhere, but not as good as the named cultivars. The Scuppernong river is close by, the Mother Vine is close by.....now I'm just bragging! :) I enjoyed the video Nat. I get almost that excited every time I eat one!
Oh wow that is amazing! Thank you so much, I get excited on anything we grow and eat because I love it!
hello, thank you for your blueberry videos. how often should i spray this iron solution on leaves? should i do it everyday until it is fixed? or like once a week?
I would spray once a week! If no improvement then your soil ph is still either too high or too low so the soil must be dealt with for better results.
@@natbackyardgarden thank you for responding. my blueberries are in their third year and i planted them in pots but unfortunately the commercial peat moss i used had starting NPK and limestone in it, so despite of using elemental sulfur and ammonium sulfate and also watering with a mixture of water and sulfuric acid (that has pH of 4.5 -5 as you mentioned in your watering video) still it did not decrease my soil pH, and still it remains at pH of 6.5 . but since i use all of them together (sulfur, ammonium sulfate and water with pH of 4.5-5) my plants still keep growing but now that they are getting bigger i started noticing some yellowing. (we do not have much rain in my area so i have to water with this mixture of water and sulfuric acid). So i think i should start foliar spraying and also maybe i should wash the soil with more amount of mixture of (water + sulfuric acid) that has pH of 4.5-5 . Or just add more sulfur and wait until next year, since we are entering fall? what do you think i should do? do you think watering with too much mixture of water + sulfuric acid with pH of 4.5-5 is bad and can damage soil bacteria?
@@masoudgg7154 What is your method of measuring ph? Are you sure it is accurate with multiple tests from different methods? From what you are describing, your soil should be pretty low in ph so perhaps the problems you are experiencing is too low of a ph. It would take a pretty high ph in the 7+ for your blueberry plants to have any symptoms of iron chlorosis. Yes too much can be bad over a long period of time because your soil ph is perhaps much more lower than you think.
@@natbackyardgarden i have a pH meter for soil, which i stick it directly into the soil and it shows between 6.2-6.5 on my 4 pots. also i measured the pH of water that drained from bottom of pots like you did in this video with paper pH meter, i used a bucket of water with initial pH of 4.5 and the pH of water that dripped down from the bottom of pot was at 6-6.2! so i am pretty sure pH is high. i think i was always cautious about using sulfur and ammonium sulfate so the amount i used for these two matter was low, and i used like 1 ounce of sulfur per 20 gallon pot at the start of spring and 0.3 ounce of ammonium sulfate per week for each pot during summer (in total 3 ounce of ammonium sulfate for each pot during this summer).
