Join us as we drive the risky and the most rewarding drive in Colorado, the Million Dollar Highway. We explored two ruggedly handsome towns, Ouray & Silverton, and experienced epic scenery with some of the best fall foliage in Colorado. They call this the Switzerland of America and you'll understand why after watching.
It was also fun to learn the history of this highway. It was called the Ouray & Red Mountain Toll Road when Otto Mears and his team decided to introduce the world to this part of Colorado. It was 12 miles long when it was built between 1882 - 1883. The toll was $5.00 per wagon and $1.00 per head of livestock. The toll booth was built at Bear Creek Falls and situated so perfectly, you couldn't get around without paying.

A Fairy Tale Land Paradise in Alsace, France
Переглядів 14 тис.2 роки тому
The Alsace region of France is a fairy tale land paradise. Half-timbered architecture is unique to this area of France and it's a result of French and German cultures combined. Two of my favorite areas: La Petite France STRASBOURG and La Petite Venise in Colmar really show off that Fairy Tale Land charm. Numerous villages along The Wine Roads of Alsace (La Route des vins d'Alsace) provided a no...

Southern California: Where can you fly your drone?

Southern California: Where can you fly your drone?
I love Bisbee! I live east of the Rockies, but a friend moved to Bisbee in the 1980s. I've told at least 15 or 20 people I know, over the years, not to "forget" Bisbee, when I knew they were taking road trips to Arizona. My friend used to own Shady Dell (which flashes by in the video) long ago.
@frankmerrill2366 - interesting to hear your friend was a previous owner of the Shady Dell. We flew right by it while on a Jeep Tour, hence the flash on the screen (haha). Looks like a fun, blast-from-the-past place to stay. I also tell people to check out Bisbee if they are traveling to southern Arizona. Most of the time they say, “what?! where?!” It is a hidden gem in Arizona.
@@JasonFranciscoVideo It would be a hidden gem in ANY state. It's consistently been in my Top 5 small US towns (under 50,000 people), has been #1 occasionally.
I live in Tucson. Bisbee is a fun artsy cooler getaway and worthwhile. A bit too remote to live at for me though.
Like you said, Bisbee is a bit too remote - I think that’s what adds to its charm. Tucson is a cool city too!!
I agree it is the place I loved living there we lived there until the mines closed we moved to Ar.
It snowed there in October? I don't think there are many autumn colors, maybe you missed the time? How is it this year, are you still going there to see the autumn colors? I need some information, such as when is the right time, where are the most autumn colors, etc. Thanks!
@minwang8959 - Yes, it snowed the day we drove up which makes it even more beautiful. It can snow anytime of the year in the Eastern Sierras - always be prepared. I don’t want to give you wrong info so I’ll say this: I can’t give you an exact answer because it’s a gamble to see fall colors. Peak fall colors vary from year to year depending on several factors including the weather, elevation, and location. I made this video between the 11th-16th of October 2021. In my video I showed exactly where and when we went, and what we saw. I will say the best autumn colors were near Sabrina Lake and June Lake. To plan for the future, early to mid October may be you best bet for Fall Colors in the Eastern Sierras. Check out the website: californiafallcolor.com - That’s what I used before we drove up as it provides up to date fall color reports.
Not that risky. Try independence pass
@patrickwilliams8646 - Thank you for the comment. Everyone has varying opinions of risk and for me that one mile section, hugging the edge, was terrifying. I talked to locals beforehand who said it’s totally fine and easy, but when it’s white-out blizzard conditions, it’s risky. We actually did drive Independence Pass from Twin Lakes to Aspen. For some reason, I didn’t find it to be as risky, and the views from the summit were spectacular!! 😎
Reminds me of Jerome AZ. 😅
lol I'm only half way through the video and I had to stop to say your editing skills are fantastic. Only 329 views on this video? That's a crime.
Hi @jefffeltes9309 - Wow! I appreciate your compliment, it means a lot to me! Glad you are enjoying the video!
great videos🎉🎉
Thank you so much!!
I'm going to be there Oct 5-12. Is it too late to see the fall colors on the trees?
Good question - one I’d ask myself. Prepare yourself for excitement or disappointment by checking live stream webcams before you go (both Breckenridge & Aspen have them). Fall colors vary from year to year and are largely dependent on elevation, weather, location… Sorry I cannot give you a straight answer but I do hope luck plays on your side and the fall colors are still hanging around.
I know you haven't posted in a while but we love your videos!! We are CO natives and wanted to go rving so came upon your videos. You have so much potential. I watch toooooo much youtube so we need more of your stuff.
@jenniferbrin-palm221 - Hi!! Thank you so much for the huge compliment!! It really means a lot to me! ❤️ Yes, it’s been a while since I last uploaded a video, almost a year… yikes! I’m getting back on track and should have my Million Dollar Highway video up in the next couple of days. Stay tuned!! 😎
What is the best time to see fall color in telluride
It’s difficult to give you an exact answer because it changes year to year. The footage on my video was from October 2, 2022. I would say late Sept to early Oct would be your best bet. Check out the Telluride webcams to see in real-time how things are looking. I hope this helps!
Can er see these colors in october 5,6
It’s hard to say what the fall colors will be like at that time and what part of Colorado you are in. If you’ll be in the southern region of Colorado, you will most likely see fall colors at that time.
Where in Breckenridge did you go for fall color?
Hello @pologrj - In Breckenridge, from what I recall, we were seeing the most fall color around the base of the BreckConnect Gondola. Also, along Ski Hill Road. We were probably a week too early to see the colors at its peak.
When exactly you have visited?
Hello @kuntalengg1, I can’t remember off the top of my head but, I have placed the exact dates throughout the video. We did a month long fall color trip in Colorado from mid-sept through early October 2022.
Love your videos .Do you have to get an international driver license if you have US driver license? I will be in Strasbourg in Sept. want to to Alsace Lucerne too. But don't know if it's easy to drive here like in US. How expensive to rent a car there. Thank you for any information
@jkd246 - Wow! Thank you so much!! To answer your question, it’s a good idea to get an international drivers permit - just for peace of mind. I’ve never been asked to show one. In renting cars, if you have a Costco membership they usually have good deals. If not, we like renting through Enterprise. A few times we did buy their renters insurance for full coverage in case of any accidents. We recently found out our credit card offers full coverage for rentals… just make sure you decline the rental agencies damage waiver coverage for this to take effect. You’ll want to look into this more. In Europe, driving is somewhat similar to the US and is easy. I love driving, I love long road trips, and I find driving in Europe to be a pleasant experience. The only time you might feel stressed is when you enter a major city. Just like in the US, it’s total madness. To adjust to the different driving situation, I always take a few cab rides / Uber the day before picking up my rental car. The drivers are always helpful if you have any questions. But even more important, it’s a good idea to go online and understand the road signs and road markings of the different countries. As far as GPS goes, we usually have two systems going simultaneously. The GPS built into the rental car and then either Apple or Google maps. I trust the GPS in the car the most. Apple and Google have led us astray a few times…once into a flowing river, another time into a dead end street. We use the GPS in the car to get us to our destination and then Apple or Google to search for interesting sites, cafes/bakeries along the way. Enjoy your trip in September, that was around the time we were there. Beautiful weather but it can get cool at night. I hope this helps and thanks for watching my videos. I have tons more coming out soon.
@JasonFranciscoVideo thank you so much for the detailed information . I just want to try to drive from Strasbourg to surrarounding villages first, a day rental. Is it hard to find parking in these villages ?
From what I recall, parking was not an issue while driving around the Alsace region.
Congress Arizona Yavapia county ,85332,
This is where my ancestors were from. My wife took me there last summer. It’s as magical as you say-thanks for bringing me back!
Thanks for watching. I’m so glad you enjoyed the video. Alsace is so unique and one of my favorite places in France!!
0:55 That little platform-thingy there just at the drop. If you search for the video titled A Different Affair (1987) Anne Archer, Alan Fudge, Ellen Geer. It starts with a baseball game being played, and it looks like they're playing right at that platform-thingy. IMDb says A Different Affair was filmed in Bisbee, but I wonder if the baseball game was at this spot or not. Anyway, these sort of things interest me 😄
What, no mention its just down the road from Tombstone. From Tuscon, you have to drive thru it
Alsace is puppet s villages
"Nothing like I've ever seen in Arizona" Clearly you've never been to Jerome.😂
I was thinking the same thing. It's pretty similar.
That was great! ❤ too quick though.
Thanks and glad you liked the video. I agree, it was too quick, but I did go beyond 2 mins. LOL!
Super! Vielen Dank! ❤
Bitte schön! Glad you liked the video!!
this is where my ancestors are from, going back thousands of years!
That’s so awesome! Your ancestors come from a beautiful place on this earth.
@@JasonFranciscoVideo Thanks very much. You’re very kind! I really enjoyed your video, I learned a lot!
Outside charming old town Bisbee, it's pretty ugly as desert environments go. This guy is full of it.
But that's what an "oasis" can be...
Highly suggest Cafe Roka!
Thank you for the suggestion!! Fine dining and weekly live jazz is totally my thing!! Will definitely try it the next time in Bisbee. Let me know if you have other recommendations!
Best kitchen shop there!
Riquewihr is my favorite 🥰
Riquewihr was also one of my faves! So picturesque and the vineyards provided a beautiful backdrop!
Would anyone say it's dog friendly?
Music too loud...distracts from your good info
I greatly appreciate your comment and will work on balancing out the talking and music. ❤️
Bisbee Grand Hotel is our favorite. Nice people there.
It is a pretty cool hotel with tons of character!
I live in bisbee. It is such a cool little place with so many little hidden treasures.
Awesome! I agree 💯. Very cool place and unexpected hidden treasures!
😃 *Promosm*
Wish you’d shown some art
Agree…100 galleries and we get an inside of an rv.
I did want to show more of the art galleries but out of respect for the artists, I felt obtaining permission was necessary and not easy.

Nice!!! 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈
Thanks for the warning 👍🏼
gays like it? : (
No, we're not in San Francisco if we were, there would be SH$T on the ground and dangerous crackheads running around
Seeing people's reaction to bisbee is very nice. I live there and it feels so normal. See new people is very fun.
I missed the reds and oranges of the beautiful fall colors in Iowa--but still a beautiful video! Thank you!
I like the way you enunciate all those French site to see. You sound so perfect to my ear I am you’re number one fan. Love you son ❤❤❤❤😊
Like the video so much that I want to go there and try all those restaurants. 😮
Beautiful, and thanks for the info.
Thanks for watching!
Climate change has been pushing the color change a week later over the last 10 years. Just relax your fomo pressure, the forest is gorgeous every day and the lack of cell coverage is a nice and humbling reminder that the best things in life are offline.
Great point and thanks for the reminder! 😎
Just saw this video 10/3/2023, perfect way to remind me of what the fall season is all about. Lovely !!
Happy to hear you enjoyed the video! Thanks for watching! 😎
Great job Jason! I enjoyed it so much
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Doug Stanhope !
I used to live in Tucson and loved a day trip down to Bisbee. It's one of the most unexpected places in southern Arizona.
@jryan9547 - I absolutely agree with you. It’s always fun traveling to places that have their own unique qualities… so unexpected and so cool!
Great video..I'm actually hoping to be out there soon. I'm still trying to decide what dates are best as I will be driving from Florida and it will take atleast 3 days to get out there.
Hi @ceezfotography - Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed the video! You will see fall foliage towards the end of Sept into early Oct… but you’ll want to be flexible on your location in Colorado. We were in our RV and had to book reservations well in advance, not sure what the hotel situations are like. Good luck to you and looks like you’re into Photography… would love to see what you capture on your trip!
Can you do a video on the van you drive?
Hello @wtpwtp - I have a few more Colorado videos I’m finishing up and I’ll create a video on our Leisure Travel Van.
You are so so awesome, please please make more videos Jason 😀
@payelbagzai - Thank you again!! You are awesome and yes, I have more videos coming soon!😎
