A Fairy Tale Land Paradise in Alsace, France

  • The Alsace region of France is a fairy tale land paradise. Half-timbered architecture is unique to this area of France and it's a result of French and German cultures combined. Two of my favorite areas: La Petite France STRASBOURG and La Petite Venise in Colmar really show off that Fairy Tale Land charm. Numerous villages along The Wine Roads of Alsace (La Route des vins d'Alsace) provided a non-stop fairy tale experience. Our favorite accomodations: Le Bouclier d'Or in Strasbourg and Le Parc Hôtel Obernai & Yonaguni Spa. We absolutely enjoyed the Batorama Strasbourg. Our favorite villages along the wine route: Molsheim, Obernai, Bergheim, Ribeauville, Riquewihr, & Colmar. We also visited Buxy, Sercy, and Lyon.
    This concludes a 24-day Road Trip from Nice, France to Lyon, France. I have named it The Route LyonNice, like a Lyonnaise salad.

    And there is me, born in Obernai, going to the gym in the city center of Molsheim in a few minutes, looking for english content while drinking my cup of coffee and now watching your video 😅 I'm glad you appreciated our region, I've lived here my whole life but never get jaded with these stunning places and views. That's so cool you rent a car and and took the time to discover all these little gems. THIS is what I call "visiting France", versus spending one day in Paris (or any other capitale), take 150 selfies, go to Starbucks, then pretend you know this country because "you went there" 🥴 Thanks for this nice and entertaining video ! Greeting from Niederhaslach (pronounced Nidairhaslar)

      Hello @clementinekirilenko2449, I absolutely loved Obernai and so cool you were born in such a charming town. Thank you for taking the time to watch the video and so glad you found it entertaining, it means a lot to me! Our experience with your culture, the people, the food makes us want to return as soon as possible! Cheers!

    That was great! So many memories. We went through Alsace a few years ago, and as you said, it was magical. We didn't, however, do Lyon. Already added to our next trip to France!

    Love your videos .Do you have to get an international driver license if you have US driver license? I will be in Strasbourg in Sept. want to to Alsace Lucerne too. But don't know if it's easy to drive here like in US. How expensive to rent a car there. Thank you for any information

    • @JasonFranciscoVideo
      @JasonFranciscoVideo  2 місяці тому +1

      @jkd246 - Wow! Thank you so much!! To answer your question, it’s a good idea to get an international drivers permit - just for peace of mind. I’ve never been asked to show one.
      In renting cars, if you have a Costco membership they usually have good deals. If not, we like renting through Enterprise. A few times we did buy their renters insurance for full coverage in case of any accidents. We recently found out our credit card offers full coverage for rentals… just make sure you decline the rental agencies damage waiver coverage for this to take effect. You’ll want to look into this more.
      In Europe, driving is somewhat similar to the US and is easy. I love driving, I love long road trips, and I find driving in Europe to be a pleasant experience. The only time you might feel stressed is when you enter a major city. Just like in the US, it’s total madness.
      To adjust to the different driving situation, I always take a few cab rides / Uber the day before picking up my rental car. The drivers are always helpful if you have any questions. But even more important, it’s a good idea to go online and understand the road signs and road markings of the different countries.
      As far as GPS goes, we usually have two systems going simultaneously. The GPS built into the rental car and then either Apple or Google maps. I trust the GPS in the car the most. Apple and Google have led us astray a few times…once into a flowing river, another time into a dead end street. We use the GPS in the car to get us to our destination and then Apple or Google to search for interesting sites, cafes/bakeries along the way.
      Enjoy your trip in September, that was around the time we were there. Beautiful weather but it can get cool at night.
      I hope this helps and thanks for watching my videos. I have tons more coming out soon.

      @JasonFranciscoVideo thank you so much for the detailed information . I just want to try to drive from Strasbourg to surrarounding villages first, a day rental. Is it hard to find parking in these villages ?

    • @JasonFranciscoVideo
      @JasonFranciscoVideo  2 місяці тому +1

      From what I recall, parking was not an issue while driving around the Alsace region.

    It looks a little too fairy tale, sugary sweet to be authentic. It's like a diabetic overdose.

    • @JasonFranciscoVideo
      @JasonFranciscoVideo  Рік тому

      Haha!! Well, you can offset that with the delicious savory foods of the Alsace region. But really, it’s a beautiful place where the countryside is dotted with charming medieval villages… so it’s doesn’t feel overwhelmingly Fairy Tale-ish.
